Oh my ... I can't believe there isn't a Harry Potter Thread yet!

The movie was pretty good, it was my favorite of the films thus far. I had hoped the scene on the rock in the ocean would be better, but it was ok. Didnt live up to the book but they never do but its worth going to see

Eek, Harry Potter 😀 Going to watch the movie tonight and I'm excited to see what it's like.
As far as the books go, they're almost something that I've grown up with, first one came out when I was seven. Not seeing the movie now is not an option ^^,

(And yes, Malfoy used to be cute, but in the last movie he really wasn't :sowrong:)

Ha, you reminded me of an argument my mom had with my grandmother when I was just 5 yrs old; my grandmother didn't want me reading my beloved Superman comics, she said they weren't 'real' reading and would rot my brain. My mom challenged her to spell "Kryptonite"; she couldn't but *I* could at only 5. End of argument 😎

What.

I was a little disappointed...I only went to see Half Blood Prince because Voldomort was such a badass in #4 when he beats the shit out of Harry Potter in the graveyard...

AND HE'S NOT EVEN IN THIS ONE!!! :Grrr: I felt so fucking cheated!

'kay, now that sucks ass. Voldemort was epical in the fourth one. 🙁

I remember how I started reading Harry Potter. I swore to myself that I would never read it because it was such a trend! Then my mom gave me the first book for Christmas - and I was addicted.

It's fun, it's magic, I love the characters.

I honestly think I wouldn't have understood the movies completely if I didn't read the books though, they do leave a lot of stuff out.

"The Halfblood Prince" was my least favorite book, I was waiting for the story to start through half of the book. Too much dating and teenager problems there!! It felt like it was only a filler for the last book! So I hope the movie will be more entertaining.

Saw the movie this afternoon when I snuck away from work and had to say I enjoyed it... big fan of the books so was intrigued by the plot. Couldn't believe the number of kids at the flick. Is it just me? I know the books are teen rated but eeks some of it?!?! Anyhow... check it out 🙂

I'll wait till I can dl it or see it at the cheap theatre here

My only experience with the series has been the movies but the plugging looks like i should enjoy it

Never read any of the books as anything over 300 pages usually bores me to death at my age.....

My 10 year old son read all 7 in 4 months, followed by the Hobbit and the first book in TLOTR trilogy....

He loved the Hobbit and found the Rings boring much like his dad...

I have since seen all of the movies thus far with him and enjoyed them more because of the way he compares them to the actual writings...

Who is to say what is great literature? Anything that holds interest and causes people to think (whether they be 10 or 50) is high up on the literary list....

Ah but 300 pages to tell one story is far too much for me...

There are hundreds of stories here ( and quite often many posts are skipped when reading long threads):bubble2:

See I think I spend far too much time reading. Just finished two 300+ books in two days. I umm think I may need more of a life. :sowrong:

My wife does the same..never without a book in hand and finishes 3 before I pick one up....

I read to escape and to be entertained......not to learn about life in another period of history or get involved in 50 pages on the description of a sand dune.....

Same with films...if it takes an hour into a movie to develop a plot and characters, then it has been an hour wasted for me....

OK we saw the matinee today...

Keep in mind that I have never read any of the books, but have seen all of the movies to date...

That being said...the movie was good for the most part but the ending was quite flat....

If you have no clue what is going to happen next, they cut this one either too soon or went just a tad too far....

The climax built quite well up until the last 15 to 20 minutes and as a stand alone movie it left a little to be desired....

Good, but not great......

Sorry but Dune was lame both in book and movie form....

Bad sci fi at best....

OMG, that is the cutest fucking thing I have ever seen...

I always thought Daniel Radcliffe kind of needed a beatdown, but after being that nice to that girl, he is officially in my cool books. 🙂

That girl had a serious case of squee.
