"Spectacles of Doom" (an ongoing multi-part sci-fi adventure comic).

Pal's "The Time Machine" is a masterpiece. One of my favorites.
I've always loved it! Rod Taylor convinces as both an optimistic intellectual and a stallwart man of action; Yvette Mimieux warms the heart with her delicate, vulnerable beauty; the fiery-eyed Morlocks are scary as hell; the stop-motion FX replication of time lapse sequences is always fascinating to watch; the musical score is rich with melancholic nostalgia. It really beats the stuffing out of the later Dreamworks version.

Splendid that others have come out of the woodwork to comment, that it is. I've little to say other than I await the next installment with baited breath. The story would seem to be at a head!

Thank you! We have indeed enjoyed a fine flurry of activity! And you're quite right... the (or, at least, "a") showdown is fast upon us! Leave it to the Commander to be completely outgunned! But I feel I can safely promise a few curves yet... a great deal of story still remains!

Ok, that wasn't a curve, that was more like a boomerang!!! Although it is expected that the commander gets out of any given situation, that certainly wasn't the way anyone would expect it to happen. I oficially have no idea what happened(and I'm pretty sure no one else knows either, except for you of course), it was mostly the skeleton x-ray electrocution thing that threw me off. I can't wait to hear the explanation for that one, there's going to be an explanation, right?
On a side note, this is really entertaining, keep up the great work my friend!!!!!!!!

Ah, but of course! To defy the power of an ancient doom machine, one needs an artifact as ancient as the machine! Or, perhaps it was not the scroll. Perhaps there is something yet about the commander we do not know...

Thank you Janus! Super-pleased you're enjoying the course of the story! Indeed, yes, there will be a full explanation... the resolution of the plot will hinge on it! For the record, that "skeletonizing" effect is supposed to represent the initial stages of crystalization (in that the flesh is becoming transparent). Actually, back when this was meant to be a broadcast event, these images were intended to be presented in animated fashion... flashing back and forth between stages of petrification until the process was complete. I had all sorts of moving elements planned... stuff that had no hope of working in reality. Just as well I never got the chance to try!

Once again, His Divine Sherlock is a full step ahead of arch-nemisis, Professor LittleBigHead! :super_hap I'd say how, but the fun may come in figuring out the details! 😉

I'll say this much more: if it was the scroll, you pre-empted Rumiko Takahashi by many a year. She's the creator of Inuyasha, an anime, and it has two objects that, if the scroll really did save the commander, are the spitting image of your Gorgonhem and scroll (In terms of power and interaction, anyway.). But, as this is not known yet, speculation is all I can raise. 😛

Fascinating info, HDS! That does it: I definitely have to check into Inuyasha now! Another big hole in my cultural literacy... I recognize the archer girl and wolf boy when I see them, but otherwise I'm totally unconversant with the series. It's ubiquitous, too... I've really had no excuse!

Without spilling all the beans, let me say that spectulation appears to head unerringly in the right direction. One little wrinkle may pop up to keep things fresh... we'll see if it's still any sort of surprise by the time it arrives! 😀

I dare say I'd forgotten about those two scalawags, Ms. Felicit and Troppo as well! That's what HDS gets for paying too much attention to the action, eh? 😛

Hardly a surprise... we've spent the last month or so exclusively on Phantamos! Time to make up for that! From here on in, every character will recieve his fair share of attention (all except for Wilbur and Mr. Celluloid... glass sculptures don't contribute much to the plot development 😉 )

Ya know, Rear Admiral Goose bears a striking resemblance to Ming the Merciless. 😉 This is great stuff. The mounting tension and suspence... Keep it coming! n_n

Thank you, Sammi! Your kind words make the hours of work worthwhile! And you're certainly right: the Rear Admiral does have a strong streak of Ming in him (good thing for me Alex Raymond is around anymore to lodge a suit!) He'll even fulfill much the same function by the end of this episode... just you wait and see!

No probs, kiddo. n_n And beleive me, I'm waiting. 😉 On the edge of my seat, no less.

All the characters begin to come back into play, aye aye. And, as I expected, some of my speculation was in completely the wrong direction. Bless that Troppo! And yay for Taloshi. HDS has an affinity for that poor prisoner.

Thanks HDS! Talioshi will recieve increased focus, as he's had to assume the function of characters now missing from the story (the Commander can't go chasing around the galaxy by himself... who would he spout plot points to!) And I'm glad I could manage a bit of story misdirection... though it would have been cool if I'd made a cleaner link to Inuyasha. Perhaps other similarities will arise as we go... a lot of your speculation remains spot on!

Sure sounds like a battle of epic proportions approaches!!! I'll be eagerly waiting to see some combat action :super_hap

Thanks for the comments, Janus! You're quite right, too... epic battle is on its way! And you won't have to wait long... the fiery festivities will commence as soon as scene 8!
