1999: (April 20) Columbine High School massacre: Two Littleton, Colorado teenagers, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, open fire on their teachers and classmates, killing 12 students and 1 teacher, and then themselves.
1991: (July 22) Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer is arrested after the remains of 11 men and boys are found in his Milwaukee, Wisconsin apartment. Police soon found out that he is involved in 6 more murders.
September 14: Bug Selig announces that the rest of the 1994 baseball season (including the postseason) is canceled. For the first time in 90 years, the World Series will not be played.
Bill Clinton is re-elected President of the United States in a landslide victory over Bob Dole.

1996-October 26. The New York Yankees defeat the Atlanta Braves, 3-2 in Game Six of the 1996 World Series at Yankee Stadium, rallying to win the series following a two games to none Braves lead in the 1996 World Series, after the Braves had won Games 1 and 2 at Yankee Stadium.
1999: (January 21) In one of the largest drug busts in American history, the United States Coast Guard intercepts a ship with over 9,500 pounds (4.3 tons) of cocaine aboard, headed for Houston, Texas.
