No worries! Will of steel here. Just wanna get better so I can do shtuff again. 😀

I don't like them for putting me straight to sleep but otherwise they're okay in my book. *Heating pad on Cognitio's back* Hmmmm. ^______________^

To be fair, there are different types. I had to take Valium once and that was ok.

Cog, I am sorry to hear about your back! I actually have Flexeril for my spasms during therapy but it doesn't really do anything besides make me feel like a zombie. :I
Valium was nice the short time I was on that though. .-.

Sleep, sleeeep, heating pads and rest! My cat lays on my back and she's a silly little heater, it's ridiculous how warm she is. So all I imagined was your avatar laying on someone's back lmao

Cats are jerks and the idea that one of them would do something to my benefit is baffling. 😵

I think flexeril is actually what I have. Helps a bunch but makes me so sleepy.

4th of July this weekend and Canada Day today! Shout out to my Canada peeps. 😀

After you've had Delodid (Dilodid? Diloded? However that's spelled) nothing ever works the same again \o/

Canada day, eh? Did not know that, awesome x)

Probably Dilaudid, a narcotic painkiller for short-term use.

Has anyone here had Zanaflex for muscle spasms?

That's the one, I got it when I was having my gallbladder pain and when I was in the hospital for brain surgery.

Haha our cat isn't a jerk, but she's sooo clingy. I cannot be anywhere without her touching me in some way. XD (She's a bit dingy though so sometimes she does seem like a jerk. Like when she sleeps on my face.)

Dilaudid lol ohhhh boy. For me, morphine's been the best reliever. Which is strange considering Dilaudid is stronger.

I have not had Zanaflex, Valerie. I Googled it to make sure but nope. :0

KAREN BRAIN SURGERY?? D: omg I'm probably way late but I'm hoping you're ok now??

And happy holiday for Canadians and Americans (soon)~!

Am I the only person here who deals with pain by toughing it out?

Not at all. Most of the time I'm stubborn as hell about taking anything, but sometimes there's just certain pains that you shouldn't just have to deal with, or that you need a break from to be able to function.

Like... large kidney stones you're passing, or open surgery.... just to name two. :u

It isn't so much stubbornness for me, I just never think about it as an option. The concept of helpful meds just doesn't come up. Part stubborn, part dumby. :B

Haha I see what you did there.
It might be better that way honestly. A lot of medications have side effects worse than the symptoms. Especially with prolonged usage, and around here Doctors just don't seem to know what they're doing.... >_>;

Nuc, I am indeed ok now. If you didn't know I was born with a hole in my back, a condition called Spina Bifida. I am paralyzed from the knees down, which is a fancy way of saying I can't move my ankles or toes, nor can I feel below my knees and I use a wheelchair to get around.

One of the (very typical) complications from SB is that my brain fluid doesn't drain normally (hydrocephalus) and I have to have a tube and pump (a shunt) in my head to help.
It was placed when I was born-when I was seven it got plugged with debris and I had to have it replaced, then fourteen years later I got an infection in it. That one was particularly unplesant because I had to have it removed and stay in the hospital for ten days with an external pump while they pumped me full of antibiotics and then have a new internal one inserted. The external one didn't drain as well (by design, they were trying to swell my ventricles to make replacement easier), so basically ten day headache.

Don't worry, all this I've explained before on here, s'not a secret ^^

One of my cousins was born with Spina Bifida, but as far as I know they never gave her anything like that. I do remember she had a lot of trouble with the fluids, though. The doctors didn't really take good care of her at all. 🙁

I'm sorry to hear about all the complications you've had throughout the years. ;_; I have scoliosis myself, gives me a lot of pain and limits flexibility, so I can only imagine! >.<

I'm glad that you're doing alright at present, though! <3

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. Until recently the prognosis wasn't as good as it is now, technology really is a wonderful thing. I would say I'm about middle of the road in terms of severity, as I can't walk nor feel my legs (Occulta level spina bifida heals up before birth and only leaves one with some minor nerve damage, I had a professor like that), but my brain was left undamaged (Yes yes I know, "but Karen, your brain's totally borked!" I love you guys too 😛 ) and I can use my knees and hips. They told my mom I wasn't going to be intelligent enough to get dressed in the morning-they literally made her say goodbye to me cuz they didn't expect me to live the night. I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology 😛

Karen always makes me feel like I can go and slug a mountain and win. (As opposed to breaking my wrist and knuckles.)

So I was brave and decided to try mild coffee brew. Dislike, gimme my dark roast.
