I don't like them for putting me straight to sleep but otherwise they're okay in my book. *Heating pad on Cognitio's back* Hmmmm. ^______________^
After you've had Delodid (Dilodid? Diloded? However that's spelled) nothing ever works the same again \o/
Probably Dilaudid, a narcotic painkiller for short-term use.
Has anyone here had Zanaflex for muscle spasms?
Am I the only person here who deals with pain by toughing it out?
Not at all. Most of the time I'm stubborn as hell about taking anything, but sometimes there's just certain pains that you shouldn't just have to deal with, or that you need a break from to be able to function.
Like... large kidney stones you're passing, or open surgery.... just to name two. :u
It isn't so much stubbornness for me, I just never think about it as an option. The concept of helpful meds just doesn't come up. Part stubborn, part dumby. :B
Nuc, I am indeed ok now. If you didn't know I was born with a hole in my back, a condition called Spina Bifida. I am paralyzed from the knees down, which is a fancy way of saying I can't move my ankles or toes, nor can I feel below my knees and I use a wheelchair to get around.
One of the (very typical) complications from SB is that my brain fluid doesn't drain normally (hydrocephalus) and I have to have a tube and pump (a shunt) in my head to help.
It was placed when I was born-when I was seven it got plugged with debris and I had to have it replaced, then fourteen years later I got an infection in it. That one was particularly unplesant because I had to have it removed and stay in the hospital for ten days with an external pump while they pumped me full of antibiotics and then have a new internal one inserted. The external one didn't drain as well (by design, they were trying to swell my ventricles to make replacement easier), so basically ten day headache.
Don't worry, all this I've explained before on here, s'not a secret ^^

And that is what makes her the heart of this website <3

One of my cousins was born with Spina Bifida, but as far as I know they never gave her anything like that. I do remember she had a lot of trouble with the fluids, though. The doctors didn't really take good care of her at all. 🙁
I'm sorry to hear about all the complications you've had throughout the years. ;_; I have scoliosis myself, gives me a lot of pain and limits flexibility, so I can only imagine! >.<
I'm glad that you're doing alright at present, though! <3
