OOC: Either she hops out on her own or someone gets her out of there. If no one does it and hopping out is impossible, I'll do it with an NPC if it's okay with Rilina.

And then deliver her into the hands of another tickler...

OOC: Sounds like a plan to me. I was thinking of having Night Raptor take her, but since the showing of the guards, N.R. left the building. The fate of Rilina is up to her and/or you. Lucky you!

Stapleton finally had to rest. It seemed like he was running for hours, and his legs grew more weary with every step. His survival mode had kicked in since fleeing the city of Bisanthium. He tore some low branches from a tree and tucked them into the neck of his tattered shirt. Crouching low, he crawled into a mudhole and slithered through it, covering his entire body in mud. After sufficiently covering his body, he turned and faced the direction from which he had came, to watch for Makambo. To help his war wolf find him, he began making low grunts, pausing briefly in between to give the impression of woodland creatures communicating with eachother. His addopted father had taught Stapleton all he needed in order to survive. Including the art of camoflauge and which leaves, bushes, or bark were safe to eat and supply enough nutrition his body needed. From his current position and state, he was virtually undetectable, blending nicely into his surroundings.

He thought maybe 20 minutes or so had passed, when he heard the rustling of bushes near him. He lay motionless but increased the volume of his grunting in case Makambo was near by. Sure enough, the large animal appeared before him, wagging his tail happily and licking his master's muddy face. "I am happy to see you too my friend." he said soothingly, reaching up and stroking the wolf's side. Slowly he began to lift himself from the mud, feeling his muscles ache from being in such an awkward position. He slowly got to his feet forever watching his surroundings for a sudden movement.

When he was confident it was safe, he began making his way through the bush, searching for anything to eat. After a time, he found a Birchanda Fern with long reaching leaves. He squatted down, and tore some from the shrub. He then walked to the nearest tree, and with powerful claw like hands, ripped a piece of bark from the trunk. He walked on, collecting fallen sticks along the way, until he came to a small clearing. He piled the sticks in the resemblance of a tee-pee, (best way to describe them) then reaching into his pocket, pulled out to small rocks and began scraping them together. Like a true woodsman, he soon had a small fire. He placed the bark on top of the sticks, just above the kiss of the flame, and placed the leaves on top of that. Sitting back, he watched the fire carefully and sighed, looking at his wolf. "Not much of a feast, but it will suffice." he said reaching out and scratched Makambo's ears. Smoke soon wafted from the fire and slowly curled up towards the sky.

((OCC:Now I don't know what Cassandra et all had planned, but perhaps the smoke could be noticed by Rachel? Or anyone else maybe flying overhead? In any event I'll leave it open like this for now. But its time my char. started interacting with others. I'm running out of things to write going solo...lol))

Night Raptor was flying at peace again. He had fulfilled his quest for vengence. He had wanted to bring the herb girl along, but under the circumstances, N.R. thought it was best to get away from that place. Soon Night Raptor saw smoke coming from a forest below. Curious, and hungry, Night Raptor began a circling descent upon the spot which the smoke was coming from. Night Raptor searched for a clearing, but found none, so with a shrug, Night Raptor transformed into his human self with his dragon wings still visible.

"Much better," Night Raptor said to himself as he found a clearing near the smoke that could accomodate him, "Time to find out what is up with the smoke."

Roughly 10 minutes later, Night Raptor had landed 10 feet away from the smoke source. Night Raptor walked toward the smoke, still bearing his dragon wings, and found someone with a wolf by his side, sitting near a campfire.

When Night Raptor was in plain view of the person and the wolf he said while bowing, "I couldn't help but notice the smoke from your campfire sir. I beg thee pardon for my appearance and intrusion upon you, and my name is Night Raptor, what is yours?"

Remembering the Dragon

Stapleton was skillfully pulling the darkening fern leaves from the fire. He placed a couple by Makambo's head and set the rest before himself. It was a meager meal to be sure, but suprisingly filling none the less. He was about to eat, when Makambo suddenly stood up, a warning growl in his throat, his teeth bared. Moments later he too heard approaching footsteps and jumped up suddenly, ready to flee the scene if necesary. He crouched low ready to sprint, when a human man appeared in the fire light. His words seemed friendly enough, but he had to be sure. However, out of exhaustion, his "foresight" was useless for the moment.

When the stranger was in plain view, he could'nt help but notice the large wings protruding from the strangers back. His memory flashed back to the dark basement and a man with wings standing in the doorway. He had appeared angry at that time, but now his face seemed softer, no hatred could he see in the winged man's eyes. Or so he had hoped. Taking a breath he stood to his full height, which was still shorter than the introduced Night Raptor, who seemed to tower above him. He had learned after a time to look a stranger in the eye, as a sign of respect. It was also customary to shake one's hand, to show no harm or anger was intended. He'd learned this watching humans from a distance.

"Stapleton am I" he replied, a note of friendly confidence in his voice. He returned, the man's bow and slowly extended his hand, unsure of how it would be received. But still...he had to try. The war wolf took his place at his master's side, watching the new comer carefully. Stapleton waved a hand at his wolf. "Do not worry. Makambo's tempermant is more friendly than it first appears." He returned to his fire, and sat on the ground, offering the new comer to join him. "I was about to quench the hunger I have. It is not much, but you are most welcome to join. Trust in me when I say it tastes much better than it looks." He looked up at the new comer, and awaited his reply...

"I see that you are well trained," Night Raptor began, "Humans always shake hands when introduced for the first time." Night Raptor walked over to Stapleton and extended his own hand. As Night Raptor and Stapleton shook hands, Night Raptor said, "Nice to make your acquaintance Stapleton."

Night Raptor then took ahold of his Wooden Staff in his left hand, transformed into his full human appearance, and waved his staff and pointed the end of it at a spot across from the fire of Stapleton. A stool appeared where N.R. had pointed his staff at the ground, and Night Raptor sat down on the stool. Night Raptor waved his staff again over the ground in front of him, and seconds later a table appeared with a plate full of meat, vegetables, bread, and a goblet full of a red colored liquid. Night Raptor looked at Stapleton, smiled, and said, "My own recipe for the meal and the drink. Just tell me your fancy and it will be so, I can create anything for you and your fine looking wolf. You can even try my meal here if your stomach can handle dragon spices and seasonings."

OOC: Er... Hue, that's too much. Yes there is magic in this fantasy world, but being able to magically create a feast out of thin air with a wave of his staff implies that Night Raptor is the RPG's equivalent of Jesus.

No you don't have to rewrite that post. Just don't do that again.

OOC: LOL. Next you will be telling me that a wizard can't fly without wings. Reminder, Night Raptor is a Warlord/Assassin. Defintions may vary, but my definition of a Warlord is one who has the power to create anything out of thin air and disappear from sight in the blink of an eye, and can doing lots of things magically. N.R.'s 'meal' is not a feast, just looks like one to full humans. Night Raptor is Half Human and Half Dragon, so his "meals" are in bigger portions than a normal human would have.

FYI Cassandra, Jesus fed thousands of people at one time with little food available. Jesus did not cause any meals to materialize out of no where.

Question for anyone of ya, Where does Night Raptor store his weapons when he transforms into a dragon? Question 2, Does Night Raptor have them in sight when he returns to, more or less, his human form? Answers, 1.) Stores them MAGICALLY, and 2.) No, once stored, the storer has to 'take them out of storage' in order to use them again. Betcha that no one here, besides me knew that, and if some of you did know that, my congratulations to you.

One more reminder, Draco is a Sorcerer, so he as the ability to do what Night Raptor can do. If that is too much for you, I am sorry, but that is how I designed them, and I feel that is the way they should remain. Not to mention, earlier in this thread, or another one like it, I read that Elfs, and Half Humans/Half Dragons have the ability to use magic and that full humans did not have this feature.

Wow, this is a 'big mouthful' of information (no pun intended), but necessary to defend a point. I hope you understand this Cassandra, however, at your command, I will drop Draco's and Night Raptor's 'abilities to perform magic' down a little bit. I feel that what I have typed in my earlier post is a clever way of introducing magic into this thread. I may have been "beaten to the punch' in having magic done by a character in this thread, but I feel that Draco and Night Raptor, have only begun to 'tap into the tip of the iceberg' in regards to their magical abilities. Just my opinion and like I said earlier, i will bring down their abilities to do magic a little bit at your command, and your command only Cassandra. I aim to please.

OOC: I think you mean "Warlock". A warlord is a military commander.

Thank you. 🙂

LOL. Warlock, precisely what I mean. My brain is still in repair mode from December 1st, 2003. Another story though. So to get this straight, you want me to stop with "creating meals from thin air from now on"? Done deal!

((I'm still here, and still sitting on the bed 😉 I don't mind the combat, I just think we do need to veer it a little bit here. Even if it's just watching Cassandra get tickled senselessly 🙂 And I'd prefer not to be NPCd, I just got a lil busy))

Rilina just watches with horror as she sees all the murder and mayhem going on in /her/ bedroom! She cries out when she sees Night Raptor begin to breathe fire. In /her/ bedroom!

"MMMMPH!" She cries in to her gag loudly, trying to get him to stop. She then does it again as he leaves. She is now alone, in a burning building (/her/ shop!), tied up. Where is that knight in shining armor when you need him.

((I re-read your question, Cassandra 🙂 Go ahead and grab me with an NPC and deliver me; I am wearing the gear of a famous slaver, it probably has his name/sigil on it, so they might think I'm just another slave 😉))

OOC: My dear Rilina, your building is NOT on fire and burning down. Night Raptor only did a 2 second flamer, not enough time to catch anything on fire, he just wanted to have the guards back out/off a bit. There are a few scorched areas, but that is it of your room. If you can find Night Raptor again, have your character bring it up to him and tell him he owes a certain amount to have your building/shop repaired and such. Happy hunting my dear, when and if you get yourself untied and back into 'gaming' mode.

"Wait! There's someone in there!" a man shouted as the guards retreated to the outside of the building. Three of them rushed back into the bedroom. One lifted Rilina on his shoulder while the other two watched him in case the dragon returned to wreak even more havoc. By the time they returned to the main entrance of the shop, the other guards were on their way back to report to their superiors. The three guards brought Rilina to an alley and leaned her against a wall.

They took a long look at the girl, still tied up and ballgagged. On the leather strap of the ballgag was "Ayal Kosqati", the name of a slaver. The guards knew him well since he always had some of the best slaves. "She's one of Ayal's slaves." one of the guards said, "Tis a pity ol' Ayal got ripped to shreds by that dragon. Guess we would need to find some other slaver to take this girl." He noticed that Rilina was barefooted and added, "Yeah, which torturer wouldn't want to put his fingers on those feet."

Another one spoke up, "Finding a slaver who would accept her shouldn't be too hard. Why don't we parade her around these streets looking for a slaver with a fair share of coins to dispense? And if we can't find anyone... we get a day off, find ourselves a nice hiding place and see how ticklish this slave is." A devilish grin stretched across his wiry face.

"Agreed." The other two guards nodded. They only untied Rilina's legs but not her hands, and left the ballgag on so that she could not protest. With a guard holding each arm, they walked her down the streets.

(OOC: At this point, anyone in Bisanthium can offer to buy Rilina. It can even be an NPC played by one of the "one-shot character" players. If no one does it, I'll tickle her using the three NPC guards.)

(OOC: I'd like to make an offer for Rilina 🙂 Castorp and Luna have the money they stole from Brazorf.

If it is ok with the masters, I'd like to introduce a new "environment": just outside Bysanthium walls, or in a citadel inside Bysanthium itself, as you wish, is "Asperum": a fortified little town in itself, center of slavers' business and trade, where they got from the administration of the city a full power. There is no law enforcement there, except from the rules the slavers established themselves.

Asperum is strongly guarded from outside and inside, and the walls have been made with the help of elfic architects, so they are specially unpenetrable.

There is the reign of slavery, once you get caught in, you will hardly get out. Many powerful warriors have decided to put their strength at the service of slavers, because of money and of the fun they get in doing their job 😉

My plan is to let Castorp and Luna buy Rilina, try to flee from Bysanthium (too many troubles there...), getting caught by some slavers just outside the city and being brought in chains to Asperum, where there will definitively be some tk action.

Everyone is invited of course, remembering however that there could be no chance to get in there with no authorization or try to act as one wishes. You can get in as slave or as employee of one of the slavers there.
That doesn't mean players can start a fight there, it just mean they will likely lose, since the forces there are just too overwhelming.

This is my proposal, tell me what you think 🙂

By the way, any female tickler around who would like to tickle a middle age chubby cheerful bard? I'd like my char Castorp to get some himself 😉

By the way Cassandra, please, let the guards tickle Rilina anyway!)

tukano_2 said:

OOC: No problem. I actually prefer tickling women more than men, for reasons I don't quite understand 🙂. But I should let Rilina post a response to her current predicament first.

DM-Talk On

I understand Cassandra's gripes - yet Hue has a point: once we allow a player to do something, he/she/it will expect to do that again, over and over.

That's why I want to stress we are running in "test mode" now.
We are still adjusting: trying to make a good, satisfactory game for everybody.
And to do that, we have to resolve issues. We need troubleshooting.

Hue is simply running his chars to the fullest of their potential. Unless we tell him that something risks jeoparidizing the balance of the game, he cannot be expected to know. He is a player. He is here to play his characters' roles.
Everybody is.

What we want to avoid is exploitation of "bugs".
That's why we must first sort those bugs out
.

For example: Hue is right about magic. I stated that pure strain humans can't harness magic in this gaming world. Elven or Dragon blood is required to be able to wield it.

It should be noted, though, that while sorcerous power is innate [and so players get to choose when and how to resort to it], its effect influence the game world [and game physics is regulated by DMs].

This means that, within reason, players can use magic, but only DMs have the final word about its real effects.

This is only fair to players who chose non-magic characters; and it makes sense too since magic is no precise science, and it can be fickle at times - keep that in mind: abusing those powers can be dangerous; and that's the toll of learning the forbidden art.

Of course, DMs too aim to make things fun for everybody: unless something is unbalancing, you *could* try and do it.

I'd like to comment on Hue's post: in Night Raptor's char sheet you never mentioned sorcerous powers. While they make sense, and we now know how you are going to use them, I wish to remind to everybody that if you haven't stated a skill or a power in your char sheet, then you can't automatically get it.
We'll decide on a case-by-case basis.

As always, when in doubt in using special powers, pretend your chars is on the receiving end of your magical/fighting skills.
If it would seem unfair to you, then it is for others
. 🙂

Have fun and let other have it too. 🙂

OOC: But Hue did say that Night Raptor is a Warlock. He spelled it as "warlord", which may be the source of the confusion.

OOC:
I know; but he also said that his other chars are capable of wielding magic.

Besides, that rule/suggestion applies to everybody. They shouldn't come up with undocumented powers without our permission.

I'm just over-cautious. I hope we'll never have to enforce all the rules. 🙂
But I am keeping tracks of possible abuses, loops-holes and bugs, just in case.

OCC Addendum:

I checked Hue's chars again.

He's got two human chars; Robert is described as a warrior type, while Roberta is a "finesse fighter" - ie. an assassin.

The dragon chars are: on Robert's side Nightmare, Draco and Night Raptor.
On Roberta's just Raptor.

Nightmare is a full warrior type; so is Raptor.
Draco and Night Raptor are fighting mages; Draco's occupation is sorcerer. NP's is a magic wielding "finesse fighter".

There are a couple of adjustments I'd suggest: first of all revising Robert's outfit. He's cool, but has bad fashion sense.
Cowboy hats don't quite mix with fantasy settings. 😉

Second; I'd suggest finding another name for Night Raptor and Raptor to avoid confusion over who's who.

Finally, in the sheet, Hue said the Twosome [Roberta and Raptor] don't get along with the Foursome [Robert and party].
During game Hue had them reconcile and join forces.

This is tricky and apparently mean, but for game fairness we can allow that truce to last only as long as Hue role plays the friction between the chars.

To all players: be sure to review your chars for quirks you'd rather roleplay not.
Before game goes "gold" be sure to warn us so we can modify/adjust.

Enjoy and play for the fun, not for the rules. 🙂

Stapleton's eyes grew wide as the meal seemed to appear out of no-where. With every look of the hot meal, his hunger grew. Remembering some human tradition, he thanked his new friend and jokingly informed him since he was about to eat fried fern leaves, his stomach could handle just about any spice the man-dragon decided to throw at him. He heartily wolfed down everything he layed his eyes on. As he ate, he threw pieces of meat down to his war worf. He seemed to finish the dinner in record time and sat back to relax and enjoy the fullness he now felt.

"An excellent meal indeed Night Raptor." he commented patting his stomach and letting out a loud belch. With his energy now somewhat he rujivinated, his mental ability had returned somewhat. With N.R in close proximaty he fore-saw his new aquaintance heading towards a village he had intended to visit, before the excitement happened back in Bisanthium. (OCC: if I've overstepped my bounds Hue, don't hesitate to tell me. I had just assumed after your char. killing spree you were headed back towards the poison apple from your previous posts. I did'nt mention the tavern, since I did'nt know if thats what you had planned to happen in your next post. Which is why I just said a villiage. I can change this to suit you when you next post.))

Stapleton looked directly at the man-dragon when he posed his next question. "Forgivness for the personal question, but are you by chance leaving in the direction of the nearest port? As you can tell by my appearance, I am in need of employment for my wealth is non-existant." After such a large meal, Stapleton felt himself becoming lazy, and lay down on the ground, resting his head against the wolf's hind legs as a pillow. "If so, I request a travel companion in case of trouble along the journey. My services could be invaluable to you, as I have the basic gift of sight." He went on to explain that his ability to reach into a person's mind was basic and required him to be within a certain distance, and could only forsee a person's next move. He could not see the future in general. For example if a fire was about to break out, or see more than one person's mind at one time. His ability also ran out after a certain amount of time. He waited for N.R's responce...

((OCC: The subject of magic is a touchy subject, and the only way to know the boundaries is to explore it. Plus perhaps at some point if a guild of some kind was introduced to either learn or develop one's abilites. But only to a certain degree. This could be regulated by the DM. For example: I say my char. enter a guild of magic. After a certain amount of time decided by the DM, they could say the ability was increased by distance only, and only by a few feet. Just an idea))

My turn to comment about the 'confusion'

OOC: First of all, the name spelling is key. Night Raptor is the Half Human Half Dragon figure who is 10,250 years old, and has Dragon Blood. RAPTOR, not Raptor, wears armour boots and has an UNKNOWN age. How to tell Night Raptor and RAPTOR apart when see side by side. Simple, N.R. is not wearing any armour whatsoever, RAPTOR is wearing armour boots, In full human mode, N.R. has no 'brown muscular arms', RAPTOR does on his right side, plus it has 4 claws/fingers at that. Weapons = N.R. 2 Daggers, 1 Scythe and a Wooden Staff, RAPTOR = 1 Long Single Edged Broad Sword. Clothing is different, so is the hair color. N.R. has Orange long hair, if memory serves me correctly, and RAPTOR has long BLONDE hair. RAPTOR CAN'T transform, niether can NIGHTMARE. The only ones who can are Night Raptor and Draco with their Dragon Blood. Kalamos, all of my characters have joined forces and are together in Port K., with the exception of Night Raptor, who is with Stapleton in the woods. I hope this clarifies everything, if not, contact me or make a post on this thread and I will address it when I get the chance to do so.

Live long, die proud, and happy tickling to all.

Night Raptor laughed and said, "I am impressed and glad to know that you enjoyed the meal." Night Raptor stood up, and stretched. Night Raptor was very tired from the flying and using a bit too much of his magic.

"I see," N.R. replied, "I will probably head to Port K. next, for the rest of my group is there. There, you might just be able to find some work."

"If it is not a problem with you Stapleton," Night Raptor began as he laid down the ground, "I am going to go to sleep now. I have burned off too much of my magic and need to rest before continuing to do anything else for the day." Waiting for a response, Night Raptor looked up at the sky and was beginning to think about how his brother was doing.

"That boy will be all right," Night Raptor said half to himself. Night Raptor then shifting from looking at the sky to looking at his blood covered Scythe.

To Hue:

The name spelling is vague: one is Raptor [Night Raptor], the other is RAPTOR.
The only differences is the first has a lower case name, the second upper case.

My DM senses tingle, and tell me confusing the names is a possibility [not on your part, but on other players' part].
I am *suggesting* you modify or add a name to further tell them apart.

I know I seem overzealous: I want to preserve gaming balance, yadda yadda, same old stuff.

Your chars are powerful, but rules also say they can't hurt other playing chars: that could be exploited against you and I must get to know your chars well, so I can rule out abusive behaviour.

Consider submitting updated sheets, with all your chars' powers clearly explained.

To all:

I want to stress out I envisioned magic to be *low-key*, from the very beginning. Flashy, earth-shattering or miracle-like spells are out of place. Even if your [Hue's or anybody's] chars are described as powerful magical beings they can't change world with a simple gesture.

I never explained in details what your chars could do or not. I will, later.
I quite simply don't want chars to wield powerful magic. I said that before, when stating that elven or dragon blood was required. I'm saying it now.

We, the DMs, get the final word.
So guys and gals [not just Hue], please consider defining those powers and submitting your updated sheets.

Again, it is only fair to players who chose "simpler" chars without magical or fighting skills.
I am not harsh. I don't want anybody to be on the receiving end of a rule exploitation.

OOC: Ah Um. Raptor is NOT the same character as Night Raptor! Totally separate and totally not cool. Kalamos, geez dude, I don't know how you survive if you can't get simple names correct. If it will please the court, then I will be happy to submit characters sheets for my characters with detailed lists of their abilties, skills, weapons, clothes, and backgrounds. However, Kalamos, I feel that the creator of this thread, Cassandra, has more 'power' than you in saying what you have said. If you will note, she was the one who brought up Night Raptor's 'magic use' and I agreed, at her wishes, to bring down the level of 'magical ability' that Night Raptor and Draco are allowed to summon. You talk it over with Cassandra, or if Cassandra agrees with you in what you have recently posted, I will ablige, but by her command only. Call me stubborn, ignorant, or whatever, but I feel that the maker or creator of a thread has the power to say to someone else in the thread who is a mere player, "you need to change your character(s) a bit." Maybe I can work into the thread 'the changing of the guard' in Night Raptor or RAPTOR's case.

TIME OUT! Now Kalamos, what makes you think that you can leave off part of a character's name and still have it say the same thing? "Could die" "Could not die" Word left out, but the meaning is changed.

I remember the names that matter.

However, Kalamos, I feel that the creator of this thread, Cassandra, has more 'power' than you in saying what you have said.
I could give you a two cases scenario.

A) TT gives us a forum. Cassandra and I are made mods.
You ignore our advices.
We delete your posts and erase your party from the game because they are out of place and you are being mildly abusive.

B) TT does NOT give us a forum. I quit being the setting-master [since I can't enforce my decisions].
You keep playing the way you like, and Cassandra will have to cope with you alone, without being able to stop you from exploiting the rules.

A couple of players already quit. I don't want to over-emphasize my role, but losing a dungeon-master is a setback, however you see it.

If you will note, she was the one who brought up Night Raptor's 'magic use' and I agreed, at her wishes, to bring down the level of 'magical ability' that Night Raptor and Draco are allowed to summon. We already had a fairly lenghty discussion about you are your chars over PMs.
We are basically fed up, for different reasons.

This is no "opinion forum". If any of the DMs says you should do something, you should listen to them.

We don't need to backup each other's decisions: there are two of us to prevent that.
We complement each other, and in case of issues, whichever posts first, is usually right.

Call me stubborn, ignorant, or whatever, but I feel that the maker or creator of a thread has the power to say to someone else in the thread who is a mere player, "you need to change your character(s) a bit."
I am the creator of the gaming world, and I say you are exploiting what Cassandra allowed your chars to do.

I've been spending more time replying to you than making up actual storyline.
You are abusing the fact we don't have a forum yet, and we have to discuss this over the public thread.

If you think Cassandra is going to be more lenient than me, think again.

I have time to spare: I just write the background story and add adventure seeds when chars reach new areas.

Cassandra has to expand the storyline AND play her char.
She can't devote time in overseeing the game AND babysitting you and me.

You can trust me, and follow my advices.
Or you can keep making fun of me, and see what Cassandra is going to do next. 😉
