Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

OH EM GEE whats the seen whats the seen XD i r wana see it <,<

alright well everything seems fine now, though i kinda dislike the fact that you made all of the normal monsters, how do i put this... pansies? push overs? i duknow whatever it is they are super weak now, before i couldnt handle a giggle bunny easily till i was 6 now? i just look at their feet and the keel. and that was at lvl 3! one of my favorite parts of the original was the fact that the monsters would actually level up along with you so they would be harder and give more experience, im not seeing that here and im sleightly dissapointed.

i know you said that grinding isnt nessisarily a good thing here (which is kinda bad because then it forces the player to play your way rather then allows people to be over prepared) but one of your quests, heck two of your quests not only encourage grinding its almost a must at this point. it may change in the future but still. now im not the most grinding person out there but i do like to be prepared esspecially in a game where one loss loses the game i would rather be over prepared then evenly matched. if you make it so that being "overly prepared" is actually a bad thing it might and probably will turn off some players towards your game, do make it so monsters get stronger as you level but make it so that it is possible to be over prepared.

other then that everything is the same, i love the new bosses exept two things

one the oni is a total pushover, i went there fully prepared for a hard battle and she starts spouting out 5 damage i was saying "you've got to be kidding me" till she went down. i actually had to TRY to lose to her and it wasnt even easy because i had to downgrade my wepon and armor and go out of my way to not attack her, made even harder because the tkl magic now has a use XD
*facepalm* Are you serious? It's...a beta! Not the final version. I'm sure experience and difficulty will be changed in the final version, however the thing is that right now he's not really releasing these with the intent of 'challenging' us, but rather with the intent of allowing us to test the game. It's better this way because we don't have to grind any and thus can get right to the actual quests and such that need to be tested. If you want to lose so badly why didn't you just pick the Adventurer?

There's even something added after Chapter 1, if you keep sleeping at the camp maybe you'll get to see a special scene...it's a doozy!
.

umm what camp and how many times do you need to sleep at the camp? hehe ^-^

nvm found it lol

Holy crap, I just found the greatest script ever. You guys are in for SUCH a treat in the next update. This completely revamps the entire skill system, allowing me to make enemies smarter (no more using fly multiple turns in a row!), giving them advanced techniques (keep hitting that Oni...see if she gets pissed), giving players restrictions (can't spam Lethal Tickle every turn now), cleaning up the menu (Tickle Magic has its own menu, and the tickle spots have been put in a submenu reached through the skill Target!), making attacks that take a few turns to cast (the mage's ultimate spell, Tickle Storm, takes two turns to use!), and even allowing Double Cast and such! Oh man...

This just totally re-energized my enthusiasm. I think fights are going to get a lot more fun in the next update.

sweet. can't wait. I have one question though. when you beat honey bee she says she will be at the eastern shrine and when I go to the east shrine in the forrest she isn't there. do I need to go there after ch 1 ends?

I haven't added her yet 😛 She's the biggest event in the game. She gives you help on your quest, on different Mamono, she can be romanced, she allows you to view the Bonus Scenes you've collected, she has a quest for you, she can potentially become a party member...

really?? cool one other thing I think I missed a boss? I have one slot on my codex that has yet to be discovered. know where I can find her? I got the harpie, larger goblin, dryad, and lady Venus. who is the last one and where is she???

As I mentioned before, there are 10 enemies in the database, but only 9 can be fought so far. The one you are missing is the one from the camp site game over scene.

Difficulty I like, but difficulty through scaling kinda scares me. I can see where you're coming from though, that you want them all to be dangerous and never really pushovers. I trust in your designs though, so I'm sure you'll find a good balance if you listen to yourself.

The new script sounds incredible. I can't wait to test it out.

Dude, I saw the secret scene at the campfire...on my first playthrough! And I freaked out, thinking...well, now what? I got a Game Over...for sleeping! I wondered if this was your way of preventing the player from going any further into Chapter 2. :lol It was kinda funny now that I actually passed that scene, but that was both intense and creepy.

A couple bugs to point out, and most of them are with quests:

  • Aello Game Over scene isn't there (Oh, you already fixed that, nvm)
  • The "Strange Chest" quest is still not fixed (Read my PM to remember)
  • In the "Mother, Where Art Thou?" Quest, if you end up talking to the blue-haired woman again while you're far into the quest, your quest log will reset so you have to do the quest steps over again, but you cannot fight the special enemies a second time, thus making the quest unplayable.
  • If you walk outside the house during the part where you have to fight Aello, it will be daytime again, and Aello will remain in the house until you beat her (I don't know if you intended this or not)
  • If a Knismesis Fruit is already in your possession when you start the "Helpless Fairy" quest, then the quest will be completed, but the quest log will not recognize the quest as being completed.

I like where you're going with special scenes in dreams, but I don't know if it's the right way to go "Game Over" with them, since it was certainly unexpected for me and I had to end up fighting Honey Bee again cause I forgot to save. Maybe you could give options for fighting back, like in the Lady Venus scene; that could be pretty adventurous. Or, better yet, maybe in a later part of the game, you could get a special item that will allow you to recall any of the special boss tickling scenes in the game when you camp for the night. Just a thought, but remember, not everyone's ideas are awesome.

Other than that, the quest log, despite its occasional bugs, is very engaging, and I appreciate the indicators for people who have quests to offer. Keep up the excellent work!

So I was playing through it again, trying to do different things. I noticed that you can drink the old guy's grape juice, and it completely shuts you off from advancing, unless there's something I missed. I was tempted to not even mention anything, because I find it hilarious, and I was like, "Nuuu, he's going to fix it if I mention it."

Well later you'll get an item that will let you fight back the Mamono that is tickle-raping you in your dreams. I'll put in a prompt that will mention it may not be safe to sleep, and you should prepare for the worst.

I'm keeping that scene as a way to make helping the Fairy a bit more valuable. But I'll give some indication that something might happen.

I've got all the issues you mentioned fixed...I keep looking at the Fairy quest but can't figure out what's wrong with it. I've done it both ways and it completed both times. Might have been an error I caught after posting that link.

The ability to recall enemy torture scenes in your sleep in an interesting idea...to implement it that way, I'd have to revamp a few things requiring yet another restart. But it'll be required anyway with the big skillset revamp I made (trust me, it's SO worth it).

That said, I'm in the process of programming the Mamono for chapter 2. I'll post one last chapter 1 beta when I get a few more things tweaked. Then I'll start the arduous process of making chapter 2.

Just gotta think up some good side-quests. Oh~right I just remembered. I tweaked the Exp_List script. Grind all you want, you'll find it much easier to get experience in the correct chapter though.

Edit: Oh yeah the Grape Juice is just a regular item that you can get in the end-game. If you drink it, well then you have to wait a good 20 levels to finish that quest, you greedy little !@#$.

all sounds good and interesting. as a side quest how about you have to put yourself in a ticklish situations and deal with them to complete XD
just a idea lol

Oh dear god

Man, tomorrow is going to be a lot of writing. A lo~ho~hot of writing.

I have 8 new Game Overs to write

8 new "Torture Her?" scenes (You'll get a chance to torture the Tickle Fairy, Giggle Goblin, Knismeshroom, and Giggle Bunny, along with four new bosses).

New items are being added to help keep things balanced...oh man. The thing I'm the most excited about are the Slimes. They're going to be a very big story element as opposed to being just throw away enemies.

And then the side-quests...I am going to be planning side-quests out the wazoo. I'm aiming at 10 new quests in Chapter 2. To keep those from getting boring I'll have to come up with some new puzzles or such. With any luck I'll be able to accomplish 10+ new quests a chapter (except for Chapter 10, which is pure linear) so we'll end up with somewhere around 90? I dunno.

I'll get Honey Bee set up so you can take advantage of your bonus scenes. Get her new quest up so you can start earning new bonus scenes. I think I'm going to update the Pub with a kind of "Tickle the Outsider" bar game or something, we'll see how that comes out.

And then there's the romantic subplot...I'm going to try to set that up like a dating sim. (Practice for a project I promised a friend I would do). Still trying to figure out who else will be romanceable...right now we're sitting at Honey Bee, Aello, and Lamia. Any suggestions, just PM them to me. Take a look at the Monster Girl Encyclopedia to see what I have to work with.

I'm thinking of adding advanced tickle spots, as was suggested to me in a PM. I don't want to add too many, but I'm curious if there are any spots you'd like to see? Given the design of the monsters I know breasts is a definite yes if I add more...

Hm...I know I'm asking for a lot of suggestions but lol this is just chapter 2 out of 10...

I have a question about the thief's Tickle Talk ability.
Are there gonna be multiple scripts for this? Or just the same taunts each time. That could be the deciding factor of if I decide to play through a second time as a thief or not lol

Um...I could make alternate dialogues...it wouldn't be too hard really. It would be easier to make it random, but in the end game I could go so far as to making Mamono specific teases. So let's just say tentatively that for now, it's static, but in the final version there will be more to it.

You know how I had that romance added on to my + game with the Mermaid? Try using that as another romantic partner.

Dude have you checked the description for roper? I think I remember it being it parasites onto a victim like the one you see in the pic.

With the newer version for some reason I can't beat venus...None of the dialog combos work in addition to the old wrists then ankles one...if theres something im missing please point me in the right direction lol

Wrists, Insult, Ankles... I recommend having at least 50+ % of Stamina...

I usually just lurk and never post, but this game is so awesome I had to say something.

Thank you for putting so much time and effort into this. It's amazing so far. I look forward to seeing what else you can come up with. 🙂

I just have one question - Are you planning to keep releasing the game in small chunks, or are you going to stop after a certain point, finish it, and then release it in full?

Also, if you're looking for romance option suggestions, I think the Yukionna would be a good choice. From the description in the Encyclopedia, she seems like she would be almost perfect for something like that.

This thread certainly brings out the lurkers and I'm no exception 🙂

First off, great game and that's coming from someone who doesn't play that many RPGs. The monsters are cute, the writing superb and the quests unique and compelling.

Would it be at all possible to make the Captains Challenge quest a bit more rewarding? I'd effectively finished the chapter at level 5 but decided to grind my way up to level 6 to see what the Captain had for me (very little it would seem). I know this is building towards giving the player the best equipment later in the game but it was a bit disheartening to stomp through around 50 low level creatures and then get no reward.

An idea I thought of was some kind of scene involving the dancing girl from the pub, after all the Captain does allude to her potential tickle-punishment after he rescues you. Maybe he could teach the player a new tickle technique on her or something (or just let him/her get some revenge). It's just an idea and you can do what you like with it, I'm sure the game will be awesome with or without it 🙂

Also to the previous poster wondering about the Strange Chest quest, it's not accumulative you need to hand in 1000/2500/5000 Tickle Essence in one go to get the reward (assuming of course that was the issue you were referring to).

Well the Captain's quest IS meant to be an end-game quest. And in fact, it's mandatory if you want any hope in the world of completing Chapter 10 (granted its a mandatory quest in and of itself). I may add new rewards though, it's certainly something to think about.

I'm going to do more with the pub/Waitress, don't worry 😉

The Strange Chest quest works this way:

You must give her a total of 1000 essence first (not in one lump sum). Every time you give her essence, it adds to a total variable called "Mamono Essence". When that surpasses 1000, the next quest starts, you need to give her 2500 more than 1000, so the variable needs to reach 3500, and so on.

Basically, you cannot help but complete this quest because after chapter 1, quests stop giving much Coins, if any at all. Quests will be used for completing the Mamono Codex, unlocking bonus scenes, finding hidden items, and gaining experience. They give you coins in Chapter 1 just because you have none to start with, and it takes a while to unlock the Mamono Trader.

In the newest version, you'll find that as you level, it gets harder and harder to get to the next level. While this was true before, it's doubly true with the new script I've implemented. You'll see what I mean when you play it. Basically, if you want to survive/save on grinding, do quests. Mamono will chase your level (in the final version) until they are on par with the starting levels of the Mamono in the next chapter. (So chapter 1 Mamono will level up to level 3, chapter 2 Mamono up to level 6, and so on). But because of the leveling script, there are diminishing returns on leveling against Mamono who have hit their cap.

Anyway, big post short: The next version revamps a lot of things and is going to have a metric shit-ton added. So it will be a while before its up. If you have any more questions on quests and such, don't be afraid to ask. I will be writing a guide when all is said and done to help people out. And when I post the next beta version, I'll include a list of quests (but not who gives them) so you can check off as you go,
