Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

Ok just have to say.. manomma is too much for me tonight. way too cheap with the spamming. I'm going to hope deus weakens her a good bit when i come back tommorow. i just can not fight this.
 
I'm enjoying the new chapter, though I am stuck at something again like I was back in ticklazon. The 3 ant sidequest. As a level 7 mage they keep KOing me, whatever I go to do they attack first, then I do it, and then I can't get a heal off because they attack again, and if I heal right off I'm still in the same boat. I did manage to get one down, but I got real lucky because they used that other move they use that makes their skin shiny, and I even evade a few. Usually I would level up and deal with it later, or just cut my loses, but since they are blocking my way into the forest I need to bring it up. If anything just move them so I can walk past 😛

Like mlukers said a few pages ago - The group battles are just hard for any low armor class. Well, surviving until one of them is dead that is. I think Deus might tune them down a bit soon, if not you'll just have to be lucky, it is doable.

I'd hate to see the challenges nerfed, they're -perfect- if you ask me. Not too hard and not too easy.

Both fairy and knisheroom -will- require you to pay attention, unlike in most other retail games, where you finish timed events with about 8 out of 10 minutes left. Also - even if you run out of fruits - fairy's will always give you the shard. Even if you tickle her. 😉

Goblin and Bunny are even better, yes you can die quickly, but you should have no problem at all after a few tries...Heck I lost to the goblin a few more times just to see if there's any dialogue I missed. XD

The only reason I can come up with for why people would have trouble with shrooms so much is because they don't know about dashing, sprinting, whatever. (Shift)

Mammona seems to be rough for the weaker classes, she was okay using a slayer but I can imagine her sucking with mage or thief.

For the mage and thief, Deus mentioned that you would have to use a high leveled Giggle Goblin to probably survive it.
 
Wow, Sorry, I have the update finished but while I was testing it, the power went out. So...it just came back on and my computer is running like crap so give me just a few minutes to get things sorted out and try to run a test.

Also, you can finish the fairy challenge without a single Fruit of Knismesis. The fairy just gets ticked if you don't have one.

Edit- Tried the ants, they were definitely way too luck based for my liking. Play smart and you can win. You'll even survive the worst case scenario (3 leg tickles in a row). However, the best bet is definitely getting your Giggle Goblin up to your level. She can tank beautifully and has some pretty useful skills later on that will make these fights soooo much easier.

I raised the priority on items. If I understand correctly, now, they will always activate first. I've also added a prompt to the Shrine of Gargalesis to inform players of the ability to dash. I seriously thought I'd mentioned it before.

To access the new quest, you need to first finish "March of the Ants" afterward, return to the village...and you should be greeted with the means to start the new quest. Boss is hard and I was experimenting with more puzzles, enjoy.

Second Edit: Out of interest, superticklish, did you use a save that had allready completed the march of the ants quest in 4.0 or 4.1? I can imagine it bugging because of that, maybe...Or it's something more simple. I guess it'd be good for deus to know, at least.

Ahahah, I'm an idiot. I spent so much time making sure everything at that location worked I forgot to add the event that lets you enter it. Sorry about that, I was in a hurry this morning (ended up late for work).

I fixed it and am uploading a new version now.

Guys. While I was translating Foxgirl RPG, I came across a script to add more than 4 save files to a RPG game. Even up to 99! I sent that script to Deus to use.

If you'll notice in 4.2, you press down at save file 4, there is another save file.
I know is that this will be a huge help for you players when it comes to testing the game.

Feedback for the new version: (Note that I'm not done yet, in fact I haven't figured out what to do in the house, I'll edit after I do).

1. After you get the key and enter the house, you can leave it to the sides, I don't know if that's supposed to happen. If you walk out of the map, the screen stays dark but i could move otherwise. If you talk to the cat again the quest updates and you get one more key. at this point I'm at 3.

Small update: Are you sure there - is - something inside? xD

You can leave the sides of the house? Could you explain more clearly? If you try to leave the house, you should just get a small scene.

...nevermind, I found the problem. Another transfer error. This time, I had the doorway send you back to the outside rather than going inside.

Oh look another fix in under two minutes. I fail.

@Cay- What was the last challenge you completed? The challenges are, as far as I can see, the only thing that turn off Encounters (assuming you started the game from the beginning, since encounters are off by default until you speak with Honey Bee). So the last challenge you completed is the best place to start looking to see which one didn't turn them back on. However, the only place I could see it not working is the Knismeshroom Challenge, since the Fairy one works through a common event and the other two are easy to check.

It may have just been luck...I jacked with the encounter rate on the first floor of the tower (raised it from every 30 steps to every 60 steps) because I was getting pissed while doing my debugging run >_> so you may have just gotten lucky. Could you check to see if you can encounter anything at all?

You're female? Then I know the problem <_< I was testing the picture area (did anyone notice that the Mamono picture now shows up above the dialogue box during game overs?) so to do that I had Mamona Female calling the Game Over event the second the fight started. Fixed that and uploading now.

This will remove any chance of the challenges leaving encounters disabled. It will also fix anyone having an issue like Cay's. When you enter the Tower of Gargalesis, it will automatically turn encounters on regardless. So, Cay, this will fix your Slayer, just enter the tower again. 4.203 raised the encounter rate from 60 to 45, but 4.204 drops it from 45 to 55.

@Cay- I can't for the life of me see what's wrong then...I had to actually turn the music down so that I could stand listening to it while I was mapping <_< I've turned it up for future releases. It just came out really loud on my computer.

To prevent any more issues arising from the K.Shroom challenge, I just copypasta'd some code from the Fairy Challenge that should effectively fix any issues, just to be on the safe side.

Regarding the house- Kudos to anyone who figures out the riddle. If you need to see it, read the sign a second time. It'll give you a riddle to tell you which switches to pull (granted..you still have to figure out which switches are which but there are some clues).

Edit- Fixed the cat (isn't game breaking but is annoying) and I'm adding something that will help with the riddle. Zelda enthusiasts, think Deku Tree when you see the hint.

Of course...the hint is going to be plastered all over the house, in various forms, you'll have to divine which map is the correct one.

Brand New Edit: The slayer is still screwed up...somehow. xD Not that it matters much, as long as everything's fine with a clean safe it's all good imo! It's just a beta testing save after all. I just beat mammona, that worked like a charm. Items seem to always be used first now, too, as intended. There was no encounters on the first floor though, I did walk around extensively to check.

I'm in the ramshackle(sp?) right now, and I love what you did there, but the music(and soundfiles, those OWN btw) is way too quiet. I need to turn my speakers up really loud to hear it, and without the music, the place kinda loses atmosphere. Now to find some switches.. *-*
WTF THAT HOUSE IS DANGEROUS! And the powerpuff girls got a medal? Huh? XD

Edit: I absolutely love the house, and the little secrets(or scares) you put in, but yeah the music does come out really quiet for me - thanks for turning it up a notch. 🙂 I have no problem solving the riddle itself, but finding out which switch is which is keeping me busy for the past 5 minutes. When I try to read the sign again it just shows the powerpuff girl message. That might be a problem for some. I'll try floor 1 again after finishing the quest. who knows. *shrugs*

You pwn for pushing out bugfixes at this speed. 😀

Wow have I not figured out the mansion yet. But BUG: if you keep helping the cat, you keep getting keys, her dialogue doesn't reset.
 
I've been going at the switches for close to 30 minutes now too, and I haven't figured it out. It doesn't help that you can't view the message again....But it's an intriguing puzzle.

All the message says is "To open the basement, pull three switches. But be careful, four of them are wrong" or something to that extent. I'm uploading a new version now with a more helpful hint. It'll still require some thinking, but the answer MAKES sense.

Now for those of you who want to cheat, there is a picture in the Picture folder with the correct numbering of the switches. The problem is there are four pictures and only one is correct. So if you want to try to cheat, you'll have to guess which map is correct.

That said, if you go to the wall above where the growl triggers, it will display a hint. You can view it as many times as you want.

Thank you. I dunno how long I spent trying to flip those switches in the right order, but that picture you added helped me figure it out.

Also, loved what you did with the mansion. Pretty trippy, and I almost thought it was glitched a few times. 😛 Kind of reminds me of a part of Mother 3 where you end up eating some sort of mushrooms and everything gets really creepy and weird.
 
That was the most heartwearming thing ever. I certainly hope to see more of those two in the future, that side quest promoted them to 'favourite villagers'. They are even beating Aellos former playmate and her worried friend.

Loved it that you started naming people besides Silver too. Totally loved it.

On a sidenote: After getting on a first name basis with Tammy, perhaps her reaction to the player should be slightly altered when talking to her again after completing the quest. Going from 'you saved me i love you' straight back to 'ill do what i can to help mr/mrs outsider sir/mam' feels kind of strange heh.
 
I finally managed to beat mammona thank you sir. However i let her go and from the dialouge i wonder if i did indeed make a mistake.
 
About the Snow Maiden Sidequest:

When you first enter the first screen with the Snow Maiden on it, if you pass by her without talking to her, solve the puzzles, receive the new weapon and return to the first screen, the Snow Maiden is still there. Talking to her initiates the "Quest Start" dialogue and it pretty much takes up room in your journal because you've already finished the quest.

EDIT: Also, I don't know if this happens for everyone else, but whenever I look into the game folders, all I see are Audio, Fonts and Graphics. The Graphics folder for me only shows the default Animations, Battlers, Characters, Faces, Parallaxes and System files.

Agreed. I have the latest version and i see nothing called map. These switches are indeed quite a pain.
So anyone who wants to share the key please do.
