Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

While it seems like the issues have been dealt with and I'm working on the additional quests, I was wondering.

What do you think of the story so far? I know it's not a lot to go on (yet, a coming side-quest is incredibly plot driven), but the scene following Mammona's defeat added...something I hope.

Yes I think the major bugs are ruled out now. 🙂 Great job!

Well I honestly feel like I can't judge the story yet, as it's just starting out you know? It'll be easier to say when the plot starts to come together I'm sure. I can only speak for myself but I'm personally very interested to see where the story is headed, so It's definetly a good start. 😀

Spoiler in white: The voices talking after Mammona's defeat were very cool, I feel like the story really picks up there. We've gotten a bit more info... Good to know that we've dealt with 2 out of 7...I sense tough times ahead. Also I'm really interested in what's happening with the spirit of knismesis. Another aspect that I'm really looking forward to is encountering that -very- powerful mamono again, and seeing what her plan is. One can guess she's probably one of the really tough bad guys in the highest chapters...she's interesting! Also I am allready wondering...we'll have 10 floors, 7 major enemies(for now)...I sense a twist at the end.

The scene following really made the update feel right. We got side quests and a great peek at what's to come. Judging by what sidequests you did managed to fit in, the rest should prove to be quite entertaining while challenging

Michael2002:
5th- Well...don't do that. Theoretically that holds true for every cut scene.

Alright. I only did that because you mentioned earlier about using the 'X' button to cancel out of certain dialogue and I haven't figured out what you meant by that.

A few other things:

1. When fighting Mammona, when she uses her Greed Core Wave, it sometimes says that I get healed negative damage. I'm pretty sure my Alignment is positive, so I'm curious how I'm getting negative numbers.

2. In the Kshroom quest, I tried leaving to the world map and ended up almost stuck with a black screen. The GO dialogue showed up, but it didn't give me the Game Over screen. Instead, the screen stayed black and I was completely lost. It was obvious I could still move and such because of the transition sound when moving to a different map, but it was another 10-15 seconds before the failed quest dialogue showed up again with finally giving me the Game Over screen. It also happened again when I was moving to the area where you first fight Lady Dryad. Maybe you could disable the ability to exit the forest when taking a challenge? Or just limit your character's range of screens to coincide with whatever challenge you're taking? (i.e. Not being able to move beyond the screen with the Giggle Goblin, can only enter screens with the Healing Herbs in them) It might make some of the challenges easier and less likely to trigger "blackouts."

3. About the Marching of the Ants final plot point with our green "friend," will there be a different scene later depending whether you spared her or not?

4. I don't know what Mammona's status effect success rate is, but when she starts spamming both her web and confusion attacks, it gets a bit frustrating when all you can do is scroll through the battle dialogue to inevitably get a game over. It does happen a few times, but in my personal experience, it does get annoying at times. So if there's anyone that actually thinks this boss should be more powerful, I think she more than makes up for it with her constant status effects. Although, I don't know if this just makes her in the right range of difficulty or not.

5. Will there be a way to check your karma? Maybe one of those blocked houses will be home to an NPC or object that tells you the general range of your karma? (i.e. Karma = 0 = "Your inner spirit has yet to be tempered," Karma > 10-50 = "The Spirit of Knismesis has blessed you," Karma < 0 = "Your inner spirit is on the path of becoming a Mamono of Gargalesis")

6. On a related note, will there be a way to check your Reputation?

7. Will the Mimic Essence Orb be eventually usable?

8. Maybe the player could use a map item that'll show a JPEG or GIF of the floor and its chests when activated?

9. I also agree with the more than 4 save slots available idea. However, I don't know much about RPG Maker VX, so I'm almost afraid that having too many save files could cause errors somewhere along the future.

10. Outside the tower, the block a couple blocks to the right of the entrance of the tower is walkable.

11. Some of the dialogue throughout the game is cropped off. There's too many instances to list them all, but it happens.

12. Your avatar face doesn't show during a convo with Honey Bee after you tell her she's pretty. I believe it's the second to the last patch of dialogue before you return to the main menu.

13. Perhaps some other form of escape from the tower would help? Besides the warp from the stairs, maybe an Pokémon-esque Escape Rope that does the same thing (warp you back to the entrance of the tower)?

14. I know the forest is a crucial point of interest, but since we've cleared it so many times, is it possible that we get a choice whether to enter the forest or just warp to the other opening on the World Map? So instead of having to walk from the tower, into the forest, through three screens of escaping from enemies, and exiting the forest, there would be an option to skip to the other side of the forest without having to go through it again?

15. A limited use item that warps you back to the town would be convenient. Limited use as in actually having to buy it.

All in all, it's still awesome and I'm pretty sure all of us are awaiting the next "updates." 🙂

EDIT: 16. When escaping, since it's 100% rate, the text probably shouldn't read "*character* has started to escape." Maybe instead "*character* managed to escape!"

Mother fucker...somehow...I accidentally deleted the entire Tickle Woods. FML, let me see if I can fix this before responding...I've gotta make all those fixes again...

@Michael2002- I just fixed the issues you mentioned but now I'm struggling to find everything that needs to be changed again...this sucks, I was almost done with the next quest too (it's a real trip...like...acid trip.) *Fixed the text on the Escape.

*Edit- I think...I've got everything fixed again. If someone can go through the challenges again when I upload the next version I would beg you to be blessed.

I'll be adding a way to measure your Karma/Reputation soon. I'll go ahead and throw that in the next version. An Escape Rope type dealio sounds good too...I'll think of something.

**Edit- In the next update I'll throw in a quick travel if you've completed Honey Bee's training.

***Okay, here's the compromise. If you finish Chapter 1, you can warp from the South Side of the forest to the North Side, however, you have to complete Chapter 2 (Beat Beelzebebe) to be able to warp from the North Side to the South Side. Fair enough?

As you see cropped dialogue, make a note of it. I've fixed a lot of it in my playthroughs, but since there are numerous instances of dialogue, it's impossible for me to see them all in one run. Just make a note of it, let me know, and it'll be fixed asap.

Using X to cancel isn't to cancel out of dialogue. It's to cancel making a choice. If you're given the option to make a choice (IE: Giggle Bunny Challenge) and press X, sometimes you'll get a different scene. (IE: Giggle Bunny Challenge).

About the Mimic Essence Orb...I didn't intend for anyone to have that yet but um...kudos wading through the Mimics 18,500 Stamina <_<. If you have the Mimic Essence Orb (I'd rather you didn't but...) press D to instantly transform all of your gathered Tickle Essence to coins.

>> fixed Burnt Light Tunic

Edit- Unfortunately, I can't display "HEY GUYS PRESS X" without it looking really lame. It's more of an easter egg/hidden bonus than anything else. There are a few of those in this next quest. I've upped the Save States to 99, so feel free to save often and test hitting X at any set of choices you've been given.

Sorry to hear, anything we can do to help? And drugs are bad, you know. 😀

So that means we get a choice to skip the woods after finishing HB's training at the beginning? Great, good for extensive Beta testing. 🙂

About warping or shortcuts in general: I think they're convenient for us beta testers - they aren't really needed. I'd probably remove them/not add any for the final version. Then again, it's completely up to you.

About using X to cancel dialogue: Could you maybe show us that this choice is avalaible too, when it is? Or did you not do that on purpose? When I played 4.0 first I was looking for an opportunity to hit X, but by the time I got to the challenges I totally forgot about it.

The item named "Burn Light Tunic" Burnt*

HUH?! XD

The Quick Travel compromise is extremely fair. Especially since when the final project's done, people that play the game start to finish won't be annoyed by the constant forest travelling after Chapter 2. 🙂

I was only able to get the Mimic Essence Orb due to spamming my Beta Ranger's Tickle Powder. In fact, it's pretty much the only way I can do any damage to mini-bosses and bosses with her character. Her attacks don't do much damage even when hitting weak spots, so Tickle Powder's the only way I can effectively defeat them and negate any hidden regen abilities that they might have.

Will there be an item that'll allow you to transfer your Tickle Essence to your Goblin remotely too?

BTW, definitely enjoyed the Phoenix Wright music during the chase. 🙂

Just to give an idea on the level people will be reaching the mimic at. I activated at at lvl 11, and i got smashed into the floor. Just for reference for the future.

I am so glad someone got where that music was from. I was very excited to find that track.

I'll devise something once I start working on the Giggle Goblin sub-stories.

The Archer is meant to be a saboteur more than an attacker. That said, you should be able to do damage to the sub-bosses with a decent weapon...then again you're at level 30, and don't have access to the upper tier weaponry, so it makes sense.

@mluker- Good. Mimic has, as I said 18,500 Stamina (the amount of essence she needs to be fought). I'll set it so you can't fight her until around level 20, but there's an easier way to beat her that hasn't been implemented yet (Mimic Chest Key).

Almost done with this quest, just gotta write your victory scene.

Edit- Update in 10 minutes.

Oh, it looks like I came back at a good time.

I'd like to help if I could. Is there anything you still need help with?

Also, I seem to have hit a snag in Chapter 3. After I did the bunny, goblin, and fairy challenge, it won't let me do the knismeshroom one.

Anyway, fantastic job so far.

Did you do the fairy one just before the knish one? Did you feed the fairys or did you run out of fruits?

Ok um please help? I can't for the life of me beat the manoma or whatever she is called. I'm a level 7 soldier and beat the ant queen and got the pheremone but at best i can hit her for 7 points. advice please?

@The above: You run.

Anyway: There's one thing that irks me. May just be my suckiness, but I can't help but feel miffed when one of the enemies KOs me because they suddenly have priority over my healing items, when for the rest of the battle, I always healed first.

The monster is lvl 9, grind to lvl 9 before challenging her. Also use the crystal, it's better than any attack.

Yeah, I was giving them fruits, but I apparently ran out before the last one. I thought I might fail it.

well until a new update arises, play the bar game till you can get 10 fruits. Then feed them, then you'll be good to go

What a fail, i said feel instead of feed

Ok i'm not sure i understand. what crystal? and run?
nvm I have it now thank you.

When you first encounter mamo, run away from all encounters till you talk to Honey Bee again. Honey Bee will then tell you how to beat her.

Ok please please please help me. The mushroom one is bad enough and i keep dieing. But the bunny one keeps changing every time i try to get the pattern down. someone please just tell me how to beat it.

Please change the challenges. Give more time and make it easier. They are just too hard for me and i am getting way too frustrated. So pretty please?

If not someone please tell me what is up with the bunny challenge and why it changes. what path do i take?

Hold shift to run. That should help with the challenges.

I had trouble with the ants too. I have a save file with a bad karma mage. I was level 6 though, so healing might be easier for me. I don't know, I've never been at level 11. I had to get a little lucky with either misses or them using that status move.

Well, I can't speak for Deus at all, but...they are challenges. They're supposed to be hard. It took me a few tries to complete it, but I did.

For the Shroom Challenge, plan a path. Know where each of the 7 herbs are beforehand and plan a path of least resistance to get to them. Unfortunately, you'll have to judge for yourself which path you decide to take, but expect to fail a couple of times.

As for the Bunny challenge, pay attention to where whe is tickling you, as that will tell you where to shake. Yes, the places she tickles you are random, but as long as you read the dialogue and have a sense of what to do, you should be fine.
