Yeah, it's not like he's making Duke Nukem Forever all over again.
Ahaaaa haha haaaa. Good, lighthearted jab there. Oh slacker, you clever guy.
...
I'm watching you
😛 of course, I need to make something grand first that people love before I make such a flaming turd like DNF.
And thanks God for that. Can you imagine what it would be to have a character in a tickling game that has balls of steel?!
Well JEEZ marcelo! Just give away main protagonist next game why don'tcha? :lol
Anyways, calm down everyone.
🙂 Jonesy does have a point - I've been keeping you all in the dark. Still nice to see some people jump up and defend me like that; very thoughtful.
How about an update after so long?
First things first -
yes, I AM still working on the game. Yes, I AM still releasing a demo. Yes, I AM close to finishing it. The majority I have left is to write winning/losing scenes, and once it's out to you all I can get some feedback on if I'm putting too much into them (I'm at least adding a Skip Scene to encounters with Game Over torture scenes so you don't have to keep seeing it if you die). I also need to finish up the last part of the storyline and finish adding a little...surprise...for everyone.
Please remember that a good bit of what I've talked about earlier in the thread will NOT be playable in the demo. In fact, much of it I've only gotten the basic layout done (because...it's not that I don't trust you guys, but I'm PRETTY sure some of you are going to mess with stuff you shouldn't and spoil upcoming things). I've been purposefully neglecting these areas. Different parts have different amounts of progress done to them, but you don't need to worry about that right now as they won't be playable in the demo, which is what I'm concentrating on completely right now.
As to some things you can expect in the future:
- Charge ahead and be guaranteed a loss on this event!
...but what happens if you approach it from that way?
- Cameos. That's right. Expect cameos. Not a whole lot, but some.
"You mean characters like Honeybee or Alice?"
Hahaha - crap no. I'm not famous or friendly enough with other artists to slip their creations (especially main characters) in my game. No, no.
So then, I wonder what that leaves? -stares at you all-
- Did I mention there are events/event chains you could miss entirely? They're based on your decisions! If you break a chain early, the whole chain will vanish for you. What are the chains, you might ask? I'll never teee-eeell.
And to help make your class decision easier:
- Every class SHOULD be viable, since I'm balancing around bosses. However, some classes will definitely start to feel the pain as they progress through the game. Mages might do "Tons of Damage", but you'll quickly start having DPS races with bosses or chugging down health pots without some party members around. The way I see it, this will be the progress of each class:
Warrior - The average/good at "everything" class. You'll get some good damage, defences, skills and hp. Strong and sturdy, but magic is definitely your bane.
Paladin - Someone call for a tank? You'll have the most life and party protecting abilities, and might even need to be nerfed because you'll be taking 0 damage. However, your damage will plummet to non-existence as you get higher.
Cleric - And I heal. And I heal. And I heal. You're going to have the best sustain among the classes, essentially multiplying your HP. However, you're going to fall into the squishy category quickly, as well as having damage drop-off. But man will you be a party asset with the best healing spells.
Mage - BOOM SHAKALAKA! Mages are going to have a few spells to mess with the enemy, but the best is going to be - like all good magic users - striking your opponent's "sensitive" spots for maximum damage. Things will die left and right, but your ass will be grass when you start getting hit because you're going to be the squishiest.
Rogues - Status masters, able to even alter an enemy's most ticklish spots (though there are restrictions and monsters that can be immune). You're also the best physical damage dealer among the classes. Higher crit and evasion will make you something to be feared, but like your magic wielding counterpart (Mage), you'll drop once focus fired.
Rangers - The "ranged" version of the Rogue...but not really because ranged weapons don't exist in this game
😛 Just pretend you're shooting your hairbrushes somehow. You're going to be good at wearing down crowds like a Mage/Rogue as well as punishing bosses. You won't do as much damage, and have less evasion and crit, but you're sturdier than either of them and able to actually take a couple hits.
And just to throw this in to you all:
YOU have no weaknesses. YOU have no major ticklish spots. But YOU are also not the strongest thing because of it (I know, I'm breaking the RPG code by not having the main be the strongest person). The girls that can join you on your quest are going to be leaps and bounds stronger than you. Tula, for example, is like a mix between a Paladin and a Warrior; she can buff her defences, heal herself, has very high hitpoints and very high physical damage. But she is also slow and not good against magic.
Meanwhile, Muca will make your Mage look like a kindergartner. She will look at an enemy and they'll drop over dead after a few seconds of shrieking in ticklish torment. Seriously, she almost has 50% more magic power than your Mage. But holy CRAP she has pathetic defenses and health. In a fist fight (or should I say tickle fight?), your Mage would Mike Tyson her.
Another thing the girls have is they have major ticklish spots, so if an enemy targets those spots - they're gonna get really hurt. I bring up Muca as the best example because she is the frailist, by which I mean...there isn't a non-ticklish spot on her body. Poor thing.
So yea, keep on believing in me. Don't believe in yourself. Believe in me! Believe in me, who believes in you!
