[VX Ace] The Laughing Isles

The movement training is still bugged. When the timer runs out, nothing happens and you can still move your character.

Edit: Major bug found, probably tied in with the timer bug. After letting the timer run out and still "completing" the training, when you try to move out of the area and onto the next training, the old man says to stop and go the other way, keeping you from moving out of the area every time you try.

Edit 2: The major bug doesn't seem to be tied in with the timer bug. I completed the training with plenty of time left and I still can't get out of the area once it's completed.

Also found a weird thing in the small patch of beach north of the spring/lake thing. The screen goes black like I enter a building or something but then the light returns and I'm at the same place on the beach.
And some kind of a researcher at the cliff near the lake goes on about how I was a great help.. Yet I had never talked to her before that point. Something about rocks? 😵
And I beat the octupus girl.. But as the scene progresses.. So helping her back to her house and all and well... Somehow I ended up in the womans house.. Without the woman! So her child is still crying in a corner and I can't really do anything about that! Something went wrong there xD

Downloaded it and played a bit this evening.
The slime combat and torture scene were gorgeus. AW, I really hope to see more of that kind of content (and quality!) in your game, once is completed 😉

Here is my bug report:

1) I (the PC) started the game in the battle training area, which I suppose is not meant to be the proper place; I believe this causes points 2 and 3.

2) A freezed, non-responsive sprite of the girl that reported the PC to the priest is found in the south part of the village. When you go south the event trigger and she catch up with you to talk. I presume this means I was supposed to start the game from that path south.

3) The sprite of the protagonist was not visible! Just her shadow. But as soon as I reached the southernmost area, I triggered an event (the "pillar of light"?) that gave a sprite to the PC.

4) Some dialogue texts were slightly outside the window borders, in several events. Nothing critical, just a couple of letters usually. I recall it several times in the priest and the old man dialogues.

5) The sprite of the blue slime in the "battle training session" didn't disappear after defeating (and torturing/dissolving) the slime.

6) The countdown during the "movement training session" didn't bring to any kind of noticeable event if it reached 0.

7) In the "quest training session", old man "appeared" and "disappeared" suddenly without walking away, teleporting or anything when he was supposed to arrive or leave (maybe it was intended, I don't know).

8) At the end of the "movement training session", wether I managed to avoid the end of the countdown or not, I was left permanently stuck in the area: the man washed me, showed me the hidden way and left, but then attempting to exit always resulted in the voice of the old man stopping me. This happened even when I reloaded and attempted to variate the order of choices between the three training sessions. IF HOWEVER I had gone south of the village, triggering the beginning sequences, then here appeared a different bug: the old man hit me with the dust, the countdown began but the event at the end of the route never appeared.

The last bugs prevented me from complating the training session, so I didn't see anything beyond that point.

Think I hit the jackpot here... I fought tula... But is that suppose to be her battle sprite? Like... Huge freaking claw nails and well.. Human? XD
And here I tought she was an oni 😛
And the flask before the fight.. Doesn't do what it says it does... Ho ho ho

Ahhhh, it's released! I DON'T have to kill you *puts away sharpened pitchfork and extinguishes torch*

Loving what I've seen so far. Just found a bug. In the town of Lockstockd, when you go into the pub, it won't let you back out. I like a brew or two myself, but when there's no customers and no barkeep, I usually like to leave. 😛

I'll report more if I find any. Meantime, splendid job, thus far.

Deer problem is still there, you can't go back.
After you beat the octopus, you are transported to the woman house, but the girl is still crying and dosen't know the mother is safe. Also, the octopus character is still there if you go back.
In the spring, if you climb the vines there is this guy wuth glasses there who speakes as if you already had helped him.

Hope this helps, will search for more.

I'm so glad you didn't continue, Rainax, for you see - you ran into a horrific error that was brought about by none other than...ME! Oh yes, in my rush to get these things fixed before I went to work this morning, I instead managed to break the damn game! NO ONE should be starting in the battle training map. That little goof you saw was me jumping the Player Start Location around the world to try and quickly fix these bugs. You were pretty much without a class and wouldn't be gaining ANYTHING. You actually went backwords (such as the light and all lol). No sprite should've been a dead give away to stop playing.

Also found a weird thing in the small patch of beach north of the spring/lake thing. The screen goes black like I enter a building or something but then the light returns and I'm at the same place on the beach.

Stalker, you're the type of player I love. You're the player that'll bash their head against every object just to see if a genie pops out. No wonder you found all this stuff. Seems you've found some secret spots, but have you found the secret items? -scratches chin-

I've gone in and fixed these too, I'll make an update in the first post.

ALSO! Thank you SO much for mentioning Tula. That was a temp battle sprite that was already in the database. I looked, thinking I hadn't linked her image, but found I never even set it up! It should be alllll fixed now 😀

Anime you're such a blasted tease! First place the slime girl goes for is her belly and doesn't even touch the button. GAH! lol

Keep on the lookout for bellybutton scenes. I've been keeping you from them with my blasted bugs, but there are a couple of them in here.

Ahhhh, it's released! I DON'T have to kill you *puts away sharpened pitchfork and extinguishes torch*

Hahaha. I'm glad to still be alive!

That bug should now be fixed. I was sending you all to another building! An old relic before I placed the pub in. You should find the new pub MUCH friendlier.

I downloaded the demo 2, started playing and went all "What the fuck".

You updated while I was downloading I guess, haha.

If you are talking about the stat up items I've got them aaaaalll covered.
And yes! Bashing head against everything is the true way to play ^^

Great game so far, but two glitches I've encountered. Unfortunately, both are gamebreaking.

Firstoff, going into the inn in lock stock and tickle results in you being unable to leave, so I had to start the game over.

Second, after talking to the innkeeper outside Sandy Smiles, I needed a heal. So I headed all the way back to the first town and all the way back, only to find the innkeeper standing in front of the doorway. Talking to her only tells me to "be careful" and I can't progress the game. 🙁

Hahaha ^_^ I'm really sorry on that. Yes, I did update the game. I'm trying to get all this fixed up so there shouldn't be any issues and you can enjoy the demo fully. Go ahead and download the new version right now, or wait until later tonight.

Chk chk! Excellent job good sir. I award those that look carefully and explore.
Agreed. You never know when that harmless looking stone will actually be a goldmine of epic loot.

I've fixed the first bug in the current update. I'm right now uploading another version that should fix the second. Gimme about 5 minutes or so to upload this.

Just a habbit from 100000 rpgs and being a former beta tester for some stuff.
It can get pretty boring when you basically HAVE to find all bugs/slight screw ups ^^

Let's go again.
Can not equip fuzzy bra, guard's greaves and fuzzy feather.
When I enter the lil girl house, she is still crying about her mother. Do I need a save from before the newest version? I mean, fight the octopus again for the correction to work? Also, the octopus sprite is still there.
I have 10 papers already, yet the angel do not finish the quest when I speak with her.
The sprites of the two pepople that are sleeping at the bar/inn change when you speak with them.
If I enter the empty house in Sandy Smiles and leave, I appear coming from the house above it.
Many of the keystone fragments remain where they are if I click on them. Also, the small blue fish (forgot her name) that attacks you in the lower part of the spring does not disapear in the east part and in the north part after you defeat them.
In the upper part of the spring, in the west part of the lake, you can junp from one of the leafs to the water, then you get stuck there.
The sign on the spring says nothing.
In the house in the north of the main map, the man only speak if you try to go upstairs.
The people watching the torture in Lockstock Tickles and also the man near the guards do not speak. Is that a problem?

Hope this helps.
By the way, does the demo finishes after you beat Tula? I ask because the other guards who sent me to Sandy Smiles do not say anything new, nor anyone in the city after that.

I think the item equipment problem is that your class is not viable for it

I'll double check the items. Classes DO have specific equipment they can equip, and you'll quickly see this when you can progress past the Demo. All classes will feel a little strong right now, and tough, and strong and tough. Once you get out there, however, classes like Rogues and Mages are going to need to use tricks to survive until they start gathering party members. This is intentional. Your Mage will never be able to tank like a Warrior or Paladin can. Ever. But you can still build tankish with some items and make yourself a weaker but more survivable Mage.

Yes, unfortunately, you will need to save before you save the mother for the change to take effect. The octopus sprite will also still be there until you redo the quest on an earlier save.

I'll take a look at the fish right now too and see about fixing them, as well as that lillipad. Probably an incorrect coding on direction checking.

What sign on the spring are you referring to?

Fixing the man now. His checks were borked.

That is a problem. It is minor, but still something I want fixed. I'm checking on them too and will have a fix in the next update.

I went to the Oni cave. When I arrived to the three bottles of wine, the game freeze.

Considering others have gotten past this point now, this should not be. What are you doing exactly when the game froze? Was there an error?

Good Zod man, so awesome to see you around again and BRINGING THE FREAKING DEMO ALONG :drool

So far, it's a GREAT game. Leveling up and fighting enemies is not a royal pain in the ass, the story hooks you in (even this early in the game), and the map is easy to navigate and explore without being constrictive.
And the scenes. DAYUMMMMMMMMM. The descriptions are great, but I think that the best is that they're scaterred all over the game. As it should be, since tickling is an everyday ocurrance in Illusia.

That being said, I downloaded and played the crap out of the last version of the demo, bumping into every object conceivable to see if there was either a scene or a bug still unreported. So far this is what (I think) is keeping me from advancing in the game:
- There are NPCs at Lockstock that do not talk (2 watching the girl get tortured and one at the bottom, near the bridges). Since I need a pass to the barracks and I still didn't find it but Nadya suggest someone from the town may give it to her, I was wondering if it was one of those NPCs.
- I've collected the 5 papers the angel at Sandy Smiles asked me to get, but she still says "hurry, I need those before midnight!" or something in that fashion.
- The "little house on the prairie" on the north only has a NPC (a heavily mustachioed man) that only speaks when I try to get to the 2nd flour, but not when you try to talk to him.
- I've been reading something about a deer on all of this posts, but I have encountered anything regarded a deer so far. Did I miss something?
- On the lake at the north of Lockstock I'm having a problem to get all of the keystone fragments. I only got 3 out of 8. The other 3 don't react when I try to get them, and the remaining 2 have eternally respawning toads protecting them. Even when said toads kill me, the game allows me to keep going with only 1 HP. Oh, and also the sing at the entrance of the lake is empty.

- This is not a bug, but I found the Hidden Beach and got the bikini and the flip flops. I was only wondering if there's a way to change Nadya's sprite at will after that. Her avatar too, but I still find that surprised face hilarious, so I'll keep it like that for a while xD

I believe that's it. Thanks a gazillon for taking the time to make this awesome thing for us, which not only is great so far, but man, the things to come! 😀
I'll be happy to help with bug reports and other things, just let me know 🙂

You a CRACK head... You been banging your head against so many walls. You went and..CRACKED it. That's why the deer ran away. You scared her off with your head banging... yeah that's the ticket.

Also great game so far AW. I have yet to pull out my hair on this one. That is a new one.

NEW VERSION RELEASED GUYS. DEMO.04

Is this the whole game or a demo?

"The Laughing Isles

Enjoy the Exclusive Demo Event I've placed in for you all!

Current Version:
Demo.04"

Considering, however, this is actually less a Demo and more of me giving you 1/5 the game or so, it's in the middle. I've got some things disabled right now that'll appear in the next big update.

OMGISH Batman, you need to calm down! Yer scaring the children with your joyful outburst! :lol

I didn't want to artificially inflate the game's length by making it take months for you to level up. However, this is also a test to see how quickly everyone bumps up in levels and can and will be adjusted accordingly. I still want people to level up and feel strong, but if you're level 8 by 10 minutes in, there's a problem hahaha.

I'm super glad you love the story. It's one thing I really want to concentrate on, and not just have something small placed in with a bunch of tickle scenes. All good tickle stories need a plot! -shakes fist-

:blush And thanks for the compliment on the scenes. Some I feel I did pretty good in, others I feel are just "ok". I hope everyone enjoys them fully one the less. Better scenes can be done as the story progresses and new environments and obstacles are introduced.

wcUlDXa.jpg

I've gone and updated the game, so now those bugs should be fixed and you can continue on. As for changing her sprite at will, yes it is possible and can be something I'll look up. Congrats on finding the Hidden Beach (which apparently is not so hidden lol). Might wanna remember this place...in the future.

And if you're lost, you should remember what the guards said to you. No entrance allowed, because a town is under seiged by monsters. To the northeast of here. Hmmmmm where could that be? Might wanna check it out and see, because those NPC's you're mentioning will offer nothing of help to you.

Any and all bugs you can find, please let me know here. I'm actually quite giddy, more than ashamed, at the bugs being found and It's been fun fixing them. I thank everyone who is enjoying the game while submitting bug reports. So if you find any more, post them here.

I'm glad I've discovered the reason for premature balding so quickly! I must share this discovery with the world lol.

But really, I want you to have fun. I want you to play a game. It doesn't have to be stupidly hard and challenging, just fun and entertaining.

Hope to hear more from you as you progress through the story and how you liked everything once you hit the "end".

Oh jeez, I forgot to answer this one particular post.

Marcelo, the game does NOT end after you beat Tula. You've still got a little bit to go Did you talk to Miss Nuu and let her no what you did? Did you try to enter the castle in Lockstockd Tickles?

Might be two good ways to find out.

I'm going to assume you already have everything in the game mapped out? Because I was wanting to help you with design and event placement.

Crap.. Think I have to restart the game. I've defeated both the octopus and Tula yet no new dialog has opened up anywhere.. Urgh.. xD
Also managed to collect all 8 fragments.. But the researcher just keeps shouting for me to hurry and collect more.. Sadly.. There are no more fragments anywhere.
