Hmm...not much of a prison, is it? Oh well. Had to look anyway.
Guess i'm at the end of the demo. I can hardly wait for the next part or the rest of the game, whichever comes first.
BTW, in the cave behind the throne room, the player's character doesn't appear on-screen. Her shadow is there, but nothing else.
Wait...that means...
...AHHHH!!! A GHOST!!!! :scared :willy_nilly:
The prison isn't much...right now...:sneaky
So what, was the end of demo boss really that easy to beat? Yeesh lol thought people would have a hard time with her.
A ghost?.........................huh.....so that's why I had that line in there. Thought I was just doing stupid stuff in my early days of design. Oh well, should be fixed so that won't happen if you go through the scene again.
I didn't actually use the "Flame" against vi tho. I was to cool for some undescribed skill. 😛
And the freaking necklace... It is to powerful! 😵
So there I was.. A mage in my prime.. Until I realized that I can just melee everything with the captains feather crit with dual hits. Melee mages are hardcore xD
Suuuure you were lol.
The necklace is meant to be the equivalent of the White Feather in ToG, except more balanced. It doesn't give you godlike stats, but works with any class AND it scales with you. Currently, aside from dual hits, you also get +15% Mag Attack and +5% MP. Soooo yea, every class no matter what is getting something. Still, maybe I need to tone it down...Then again, maybe I'll keep it as is and take the necklace into account with future mobs.
Still, I was LMAO when you mentioned you made a Melee mage. Absolutely hilarious, and I'm glad I was able to give you that option :lol
Daily Unasked and Unrequited Suggestion:
I've seen this suggested before, and I recommend it as well: the implementation of a "surrender" option of some kind. Possibly not a skill, for it would be prone to misclicking (I think an item would be a less risky option). I feel this is needed because some defeats can be quite hard to obtain. I had to pourposely buy a dozen antidotes to spam on Nadya (in order to waste turns) against several enemies like the pad fish or the three running onis, to see if they had a game over scene. I still have to find a way for centaurs, since Nadya met them at level 6 and she's nigh invulnerable to their hits. Damn, I really hope I'm not intoxicating her liver or something. Those meds could have some nasty side effect, they even glow when you drink them.
Minor Balance Issues:
Ok, so, this was my experience with Tula. I met her with a lvl 4 warrior with decent equipment. I liked a lot her dialogues (I laughed my ass off with those boss puns!). After the first five turns I had started to think that I could have made it, albeit with some difficulties. Mind you, she hit quite hard, but the "right" amount of hard. Everything was nice; truly, a good boss fight, I was starting to like it... then she started to drink. Yes, this is a bad thing in games too, not just in real life. Because of that, I spent the next 30 turns in a slow, impossibile war of attrition that ended with the loss of all my potions and, of course, Nadya's sanity due to tickly doom. Not that I complain about that last part. But there was no way I could win, since she used that healing skill approx once every three turns (and sometimes even MORE OFTEN). I tried several times, same result. So of course, I grinded a lot. Got top gear and returned to her lvl 6, also with permanent upgrades to defence and HP. It still lasted quite a good number of turns, but this time everything went reverse: she could barely scratch my armor (pretty humiliating if you ask me), while I could hit her just above the max amount of HP she could heal, so she was the one trying to compensate and slowly losing. Unfortunately, at the end she didn't lose sanity due to tickly doom (oh, I swear I was WAITING FOR IT) but still, she had to flee.
Now. As I understand, she was meant to be a lvl 4-5 boss fight? If this is the case, I suggest that you cut the amount of healed hp per skill use. Severely. Or, you could make her skill mana-dependent and give her a max cap like, say, four times? Anyway, like I said before, now I'm level 6 and whatever the reason is, I think I'm quite overpowered for the centaur invasion (aside from very easy battles I can see it by comparison with the level of my new, uh, companion).
Just something to think about for a possible future rebalance 🙂
Rainax, you are the main guy. The MAIN guy...who makes me get this face at work:
You're the one who seems to be the first to tell of a total gamebreaking bug or, in this case, a whole review over one fight.
First off, there is indeed a Surrender option. As I mentioned in previous posts and the first post, you should check back in the starting village.
...Maybe a little to the northeast. Yknow. Might be something there. Now you can stop overdosing your character lol. I had this all set, but completely forgot to place it in the demo until someone brought it up.
First of all, I am SO happy to hear you enjoyed Tula's dialogue. One of the few who've mentioned anything that wasn't bug related (which I understand, I was wanting that. Hopefully I'll be getting some reviews and "OMGISH I LOVED THIS THING" soon). You've gotten your first taste of my character design and I'm really glad it appealed to you.
As to her battle, I'm laughing so much. Like, when I saw this post at work on my phone I was giggling my ass off. Why? Because based off what teh_stalker said, Tula was a complete pushover. Granted he also powerleveled, but still. So the fact that you've come out and said she REALLY wanted to stay alive and attritioned a loss out of you has amused the crap out of me...because I buffed her in the last version thinking she needed it. :lol I'm sorry to hear it was a good boss fight until then. As to the outcome on winning, let me just say,
there's a reason for everything.
So I'm going around and altering the bosses and some enemies right now, giving them a little more oomph in some areas. But I thank you SO much because this is also the information I need - balance info. Not TOO much, since this whole area (like I said) is meant for you to feel powerful since you're just solo. Still, I don't want you to be untouchable unless you're really outleveled.
As to the centaurs, well, it's me introducing you to the party mechanic. You really aren't meant to lose anything there, so you should feel very powerful. I'll buff them up too though so they at least can scratch you :stickout
