[VX Ace] The Laughing Isles

Ok, watched the rest of the scenes that were interrupted by that error.

Very nicely done on the "lose" scene with the researcher. Rates up there with the legendary (in my mind) ToG Lady Venus bellybutton scene.

Also, another bug and a typo. The Tickripple discription says it lasts for only 1 round, but I was doing 100+ damage each hit for much longer than 1 round. The typo is when using the Tickripple: Belly skill, it says she tickles the feet.

EDIT: Bah! Forgot to mention a major bug. When you enter the inn/pub in Lockstock Tickles, you can't get out, no matter what.

Another one. Inside Castle Lauffax, a gaurd says if you want to visit the prison it's just outside and all the way to the left. I assume she means down the hall to the left as soon as you enter the castle. Nowhere along that side lets you go any farther. In short, you can't visit the prison.

Just put out another update that's going to affect some changes to skills. You shouldn't be doing 100+ damage every round. It should be you using your skill and then using the body specific target to do large damage on the next round. Then rinse and repeat. Let's see if I fixed this up.

The pub bug was fixed earlier, but not entirely. I simply forgot to make it to where you just need to walk to the exit rather than activate it with Z. Should work like it's supposed to now.

Hmm...not much of a prison, is it? Oh well. Had to look anyway.

Guess i'm at the end of the demo. I can hardly wait for the next part or the rest of the game, whichever comes first.

BTW, in the cave behind the throne room, the player's character doesn't appear on-screen. Her shadow is there, but nothing else.

Wait...that means......AHHHH!!! A GHOST!!!! :scared :willy_nilly:

I didn't actually use the "Flame" against vi tho. I was to cool for some undescribed skill. 😛
And the freaking necklace... It is to powerful! 😵
So there I was.. A mage in my prime.. Until I realized that I can just melee everything with the captains feather crit with dual hits. Melee mages are hardcore xD

Daily Unasked and Unrequited Suggestion:

I've seen this suggested before, and I recommend it as well: the implementation of a "surrender" option of some kind. Possibly not a skill, for it would be prone to misclicking (I think an item would be a less risky option). I feel this is needed because some defeats can be quite hard to obtain. I had to pourposely buy a dozen antidotes to spam on Nadya (in order to waste turns) against several enemies like the pad fish or the three running onis, to see if they had a game over scene. I still have to find a way for centaurs, since Nadya met them at level 6 and she's nigh invulnerable to their hits. Damn, I really hope I'm not intoxicating her liver or something. Those meds could have some nasty side effect, they even glow when you drink them.

Minor Balance Issues:

Ok, so, this was my experience with Tula. I met her with a lvl 4 warrior with decent equipment. I liked a lot her dialogues (I laughed my ass off with those boss puns!). After the first five turns I had started to think that I could have made it, albeit with some difficulties. Mind you, she hit quite hard, but the "right" amount of hard. Everything was nice; truly, a good boss fight, I was starting to like it... then she started to drink. Yes, this is a bad thing in games too, not just in real life. Because of that, I spent the next 30 turns in a slow, impossibile war of attrition that ended with the loss of all my potions and, of course, Nadya's sanity due to tickly doom. Not that I complain about that last part. But there was no way I could win, since she used that healing skill approx once every three turns (and sometimes even MORE OFTEN). I tried several times, same result. So of course, I grinded a lot. Got top gear and returned to her lvl 6, also with permanent upgrades to defence and HP. It still lasted quite a good number of turns, but this time everything went reverse: she could barely scratch my armor (pretty humiliating if you ask me), while I could hit her just above the max amount of HP she could heal, so she was the one trying to compensate and slowly losing. Unfortunately, at the end she didn't lose sanity due to tickly doom (oh, I swear I was WAITING FOR IT) but still, she had to flee.
Now. As I understand, she was meant to be a lvl 4-5 boss fight? If this is the case, I suggest that you cut the amount of healed hp per skill use. Severely. Or, you could make her skill mana-dependent and give her a max cap like, say, four times? Anyway, like I said before, now I'm level 6 and whatever the reason is, I think I'm quite overpowered for the centaur invasion (aside from very easy battles I can see it by comparison with the level of my new, uh, companion).
Just something to think about for a possible future rebalance 🙂

So what, was the end of demo boss really that easy to beat? Yeesh lol thought people would have a hard time with her.

A ghost?.........................huh.....so that's why I had that line in there. Thought I was just doing stupid stuff in my early days of design. Oh well, should be fixed so that won't happen if you go through the scene again.

Suuuure you were lol.
The necklace is meant to be the equivalent of the White Feather in ToG, except more balanced. It doesn't give you godlike stats, but works with any class AND it scales with you. Currently, aside from dual hits, you also get +15% Mag Attack and +5% MP. Soooo yea, every class no matter what is getting something. Still, maybe I need to tone it down...Then again, maybe I'll keep it as is and take the necklace into account with future mobs.
Still, I was LMAO when you mentioned you made a Melee mage. Absolutely hilarious, and I'm glad I was able to give you that option :lol

Rainax, you are the main guy. The MAIN guy...who makes me get this face at work:

KX4E5ZO.png

You're the one who seems to be the first to tell of a total gamebreaking bug or, in this case, a whole review over one fight.

First off, there is indeed a Surrender option. As I mentioned in previous posts and the first post, you should check back in the starting village.
...Maybe a little to the northeast. Yknow. Might be something there. Now you can stop overdosing your character lol. I had this all set, but completely forgot to place it in the demo until someone brought it up.

First of all, I am SO happy to hear you enjoyed Tula's dialogue. One of the few who've mentioned anything that wasn't bug related (which I understand, I was wanting that. Hopefully I'll be getting some reviews and "OMGISH I LOVED THIS THING" soon). You've gotten your first taste of my character design and I'm really glad it appealed to you.

As to her battle, I'm laughing so much. Like, when I saw this post at work on my phone I was giggling my ass off. Why? Because based off what teh_stalker said, Tula was a complete pushover. Granted he also powerleveled, but still. So the fact that you've come out and said she REALLY wanted to stay alive and attritioned a loss out of you has amused the crap out of me...because I buffed her in the last version thinking she needed it. :lol I'm sorry to hear it was a good boss fight until then. As to the outcome on winning, let me just say, there's a reason for everything.

So I'm going around and altering the bosses and some enemies right now, giving them a little more oomph in some areas. But I thank you SO much because this is also the information I need - balance info. Not TOO much, since this whole area (like I said) is meant for you to feel powerful since you're just solo. Still, I don't want you to be untouchable unless you're really outleveled.

As to the centaurs, well, it's me introducing you to the party mechanic. You really aren't meant to lose anything there, so you should feel very powerful. I'll buff them up too though so they at least can scratch you :stickout

Terrific game so far Anime xD My favorite part is obviously the mother in the Sandy Smiles area >😀 anyway I can get her as a Partner in this game?? Lol :stickout

LOL! Oh Tiny Turtle, I am ever so glad you enjoyed that quest. I was certainly thinking of foot lovers with that one 😛 You know, if she is your partner, you'd have to help raise her daughter. It's a 2 for 1 deal on that lol

Got to say AW, this game of yours is really living up to its hype. Nadya is a cutie beyond words, makes me happy to see her in her losing scenes~

One big bit of praise is the use of the shy butterfly and her little "quest" I would've though it'd be done via a sprite on the actual map. When the whole thing was an encounter, one where you could tickle the one you're trying to rescue? I was left nodding my head. Wonderfully executed!

One bug (dunno if its been mentioned) is the... "hidden" area with the articles of clothing found there. Once you leave, Nadya's portrait is stuck as her shocked look. Taking the clothes on then off has no effect.

Also, I read how restarting might be needed to really complete the angels quest, if you already have the pages in hand. That's not... ALL the way over... right?

please say its not...please~

Alrighty... Rogues are complete bullshit. I started a new playfile as a rogue.. Currently equipped with the bikini, flip flops, captain's feather and pheremone phial... So I went to sandy smiles to get my story on.. Battled the cat girl at the inn.. And guess what? Critted 189 two times in a row granting me an instant win. She didn't even have time to beg. Lvl 2 rogue.. The tickle output.. Is retarded xD
So how is that balancing working out for you, Anime? ^^

EDIT: Oh crap.. I didn't even have two weapons equipped.. This is... Just wow. 😛

Ok.. Part 2 of the rogue brutalizing events.. 2 shotted Tula.. Or well.. It was 2 turns thus four attacks. 2 crits and 2 regular hits, the 2 crits dealing roughly 500dmg. She didn't even have time to get her bottle on. So yeah.. This kinda reminds me of having a lvl 9999 Desco rebirthed like 100 times on disgaea 4. I have yet to run into anything that can stop this godlike dmg. Doubt Vi will be much of a challenge either xD
I was lvl 5 against Tula just fyi.

Oh my, I didn't think I'd get compliments on the hero. Thank you Reo 😀

Oh really? You liked the encounter? I bet you thought it was just going to be another random encounter with the butterfly. But nnnnope. Did you rescue he or tickle her? It was a nice little treat to find that you wouldn't really have happen in other games.

This has been found and fixed it the best can currently. You can revert Nadya to her original sprite and face by talking to the girl who gave you the swimsuit in the first place.

You shouldnt need to restart the ANgel quest with the latest version. Simply try talkg to the quest giver a couple of time and it should be fine.

I was lvl 5 against Tula just fyi.

As expected.. Vi didn't stand a chance. Me thinks rogues are slightly op. I don't even use the target ablilities because they are worthless if compared to the auto tickles. ^^

HAHAHAHA! Holy crap ok. Minor balances are dropped. Mega balanced are on board. I think I just fixed this up. Man, Rogues took quite a hit - Rangers too since I don't trust them.

The captain's feather has also been nerfed. Thank goodness I didn't get 2 of them 😵

Let me know how Vi goes and then go ahead and download the new version.

As stated above.. Vi didn't stand a chance. Good to see nerfs coming out.
Yeah.. 2 captain's feathers would have been pretty sick. I mean.. Don't get me wrong. Steamrolling everything without a single fight being challenging is also pretty sick.. But if you had an 30% increased crit chance? 😵

But only the auto attacks that were completely imba. When I tried some of the fights with the skills however, It made for some interesting fights. 😛

Kinda felt like this when playing the op rogue auto attack build http://www.youtube. com/watch?v=PDHCLjuOzXY
Aka.. Total fucking boss xD

NEW VERSION UP! BALANCE TESTINGS NOW!

Poor Vi T_T

Yea, I've nerfed lots of stuff. This should bring the Rogues back in line. Mages got a hit too, though I didn't seem their powers that high when I did tests.

Thanks for giving me some Balance testings. I need this.

Mages in all are pretty balanced. They are however... VERY slow. Might need a just a slight speed buff. The auto attacks are not that imba on the mages because their auto attack output is not that high to begin with. Crits as a lvl 10 are around 65-75. So not nearly as insane as rogues.

Aw crap.....

Vi wasn't exactly hard, per se, but she sure as hell wasn't a snail girl either. Having a rouge, I may not be able to beat her now since the rouge has had her stats so nerfed.

Well, at least I have a save right before talking with Worynn, so I can go out and grind some more levels if need be. Heh, only reason I have a save there is cause one of the gaurds mentions finger tickling the player character's bellybutton. Lol, I am so addicted....

I'm gonna try to get some balance checks on the other classes as well. But dunno how much I'll get done. I'll get back to you if I find something gamebreaking.
Hopefully you've snuffed those op things out. But you never know. I tend to find things 😛

Tested the rogue after crit/dmg nerf. It is sadly still more powerful to just keep spamming auto attacks. The targeting skills are just not strong enough to be compared in the face of 2 attacks per turn. And even with 7 less atk. I went from 78-87 to 52-57. (compared on harpies because it was the first thing I found. xD) The crits are still pretty op. nerfed version only crits around 150-165ish lvl6. down from 240-260ish. It's still some sick dmg output. But when not getting crits everytime it's slightly less viable. But I doubt it would put a dent in my winning streak. Gonna try Vi again. Because she is the most powerful out there. 😛

Thanks of the tip on the chest of wonders AW, I had missed it. It makes my, uhm, experiments much faster and, uh, efficient. 😉

Now, my small contributions to the polishing of the game (played on version 7b):

THE PLOT (warning, spoilers ahead)

I beated Vi.
And I loved her. Soundtrack, appearance, voice acting (lol), reality-warping powers... the difficulty was high, but still doable for a lvl 7 warrior with some high potions and plenty of 50hp potions, so I won't complain there. The blue screen of death was fun too, altough I have to say that I always hate anything that stands between me, a very naughty ticklish girl and... well, karma. It would have been perfect if I got that screen AFTER, if you get what I mean. But alas, it wasn't meant to be.
Is this officially the end of the demo?

(end of spoilers)

BALANCE - WARRIOR STATS

Warriors are very slow, and could use a small buff on that stat. Nothing else to say on stat progression however; to me, it seems pretty much the "average" non-magic profession that was intended to be, and it should remain that way.

BALANCE - WARRIOR SKILLS

I don't know if it's intentional or not, but for the warrior it seems that the basic "tickle" attack is really the only crucial skill to use in order to beat monsters.
As you progress in levels, no targeted tickling is ever truly necessary; often tickling something specifically becomes a way to intentionally lower your DPS.
Gang tickling is underpowered too, altough I can imagine it becoming somewhat useful against BIG clusters of enemies (like 5 at a time). As it is now, I think it would be undesirable in any other combat situation.
The only useful damage skill I have obtained in the special menu as of level 7 is the Extreme Poke (I love this name), which occasionally helps in boss fights; however I would suggest a small buff to this one as well, given the pretty high cost.

CENTAUR RAID

A question: in my experience, any attempt to pursue the kidnapped husband (or talking, or even just being close to him during the escape) ended up freezing the game as soon as the centaur got close to the exit of the village. Is there a way to rescue him, or the wife is the only possibile choice?

Hmm.. Iiiiinteresting... So. With the nerfs on rogues, Using anything other than your dual auto attack is pathetic. Your targetable skills could probably not win against anything. Take one atk down from Vi and your targetable skills are down to roughly 3 dmg. Did the tickripple: Feet and did 40 dmg, followed by a tickle feet.. did 17 dmg.. While doing auto attack spams deal roughly 30-37 x2 with a chance of doing around 100dmg crits.
So sadly the nerfs broke everything except the op tactic. Might wanna try switching the target skills to fixed dmg that scales with lvls. I'm not sure tho. Don't have that much exp with rpg maker and the options it gives you 😛

Run up to the left and circle around the centaur to get to her in time. If you try to run any other way you won't make it. And I dunno why the game freezes up if you don't make it. A slight bug I guess? 😛
