[VX Ace] The Laughing Isles

Also tried out the mage again after nerfs.. I struggled with freaking centaurs.. Or well.. not so much Nadya as the captain. ^^
Even as a lvl 10 I had almost no magic dmg output. And the melee being so nerfed that it did 4-7 dmg. (As a mage not being able to melee is just fine tho 😛)
But when you have to chug pots against vs normal enemies, it can get pretty slow. Not so much Nadya chugging it as the captain.. She is getting wrecked by centaurs. ^^
And for some reason.. The centaurs only focus her. xD
But I am not sure if I'm overthinking things. I just assumed a lvl 10 mage with phial would be able to kill centaurs faster. 3-4 spells per centaur seems a little much.

Did some more comparing. And with the mage class nerf, I had to chug 5 healing pots and 1 mana pot to bring Vi down. Still pretty easy fight, since I'm lvl 10 and all. The thing that hit me hardest was the mana pool getting a severe nerf. went from 274 mana pool to 170.
For that fight it just meant one mana pot usage instead of none. But these are all from an overlvled point of view. As a lvl 6 mage.. Vi was more than a "slight" annoyance. Won tho. 😛

Oh really? You liked the encounter? I bet you thought it was just going to be another random encounter with the butterfly. But nnnnope. Did you rescue he or tickle her? It was a nice little treat to find that you wouldn't really have happen in other games.

This has been found and fixed it the best can currently. You can revert Nadya to her original sprite and face by talking to the girl who gave you the swimsuit in the first place.

You shouldnt need to restart the ANgel quest with the latest version. Simply try talkg to the quest giver a couple of time and it should be fine.

I rescued her. Got to have my first playthrough be all moralfag and what not ;p
It really was a pleasant surprise stumbling across it, just wish I knew it was there, so I could've saved and seen the other side of the coin~

And I'll just go ahead and say this now... Plump slime girl is mai (second) waifu~

Also, when I was in the barracks, talking with the general, after the scene with her waking Nadya, the game freezes when she tries to return me to bed.

Decided to restart as a Rogue (I'm in the version Rogues were still OP, I think xD) before getting raped by Vi.

I want to check out what I lost on the early game with the new fixes and etc.

By the way the Demo goes on after Vi?

One big bit of praise is the use of the shy butterfly and her little "quest" I would've though it'd be done via a sprite on the actual map. When the whole thing was an encounter, one where you could tickle the one you're trying to rescue? I was left nodding my head. Wonderfully executed!

Wait, is it Shy Butterfly or Scared Ticklefly?

This might have something to do with the swimsuit's script I added. I've removed it in the latest version. Try it out now, as the fuzzy bra shouldn't mess with anything. That's just all kinds of crazy right there lol.

I have the latest version, the sprite isnt there even when the fuzzy bra isnt equipped.

EDIT: i got the swim suit and the sprite appeared again

HEY AW!
Just downloaded the game today, the wait has been killing me! Though circumstances beyond my control have prevented me getting said demo until now. *insert funny anime gif here*

but...

I have the latest version, the sprite isnt there

That sums it up for me. All I get when I start the game is a shadow in a mineshaft looking place. I cant interact with anything, there is no dialog or dialog txt box. However, I can access the player menu and go to items, equip, and all that.

Also please explain the proper use of "its" and "it's" :scared

AW is not online atm. If you can't wait I can give you a save file of whatever class you wanted to play at the first possible save spot.
But that is like.. If you really can't wait and really want to "get to it" ^^
Aahh... Now AW is online! 😀

Mages in all are pretty balanced. They are however... VERY slow. Might need a just a slight speed buff. The auto attacks are not that imba on the mages because their auto attack output is not that high to begin with. Crits as a lvl 10 are around 65-75. So not nearly as insane as rogues.

Lemme know the next time you see an athletic mage 😛 Mages are slow, just like heavy armored classes. Your power comes from you blowing shit to smithereens. Or, in some weird cases, melee'ing them down lol. I might consider an ever so slight speed increase, but you will not be a fast character ever (unless maybe you put on a lot of speed equipment).

Aw crap.....

Vi wasn't exactly hard, per se, but she sure as hell wasn't a snail girl either. Having a rouge, I may not be able to beat her now since the rouge has had her stats so nerfed.

Well, at least I have a save right before talking with Worynn, so I can go out and grind some more levels if need be. Heh, only reason I have a save there is cause one of the gaurds mentions finger tickling the player character's bellybutton. Lol, I am so addicted....

Poor Vi was supposed to be this super hard fight, but it seems everyone poopoos on her :lol Maybe you should count this as a blessing that my super secret bosses won't be god-tier unstoppable. I'm glad to hear your love over certain scenes. Makes me happy.

Thanks of the tip on the chest of wonders AW, I had missed it. It makes my, uhm, experiments much faster and, uh, efficient. 😉

Now, my small contributions to the polishing of the game (played on version 7b):

THE PLOT (warning, spoilers ahead)

I beated Vi.
And I loved her. Soundtrack, appearance, voice acting (lol), reality-warping powers... the difficulty was high, but still doable for a lvl 7 warrior with some high potions and plenty of 50hp potions, so I won't complain there. The blue screen of death was fun too, altough I have to say that I always hate anything that stands between me, a very naughty ticklish girl and... well, karma. It would have been perfect if I got that screen AFTER, if you get what I mean. But alas, it wasn't meant to be.
Is this officially the end of the demo?

(end of spoilers)

BALANCE - WARRIOR STATS

Warriors are very slow, and could use a small buff on that stat. Nothing else to say on stat progression however; to me, it seems pretty much the "average" non-magic profession that was intended to be, and it should remain that way.

BALANCE - WARRIOR SKILLS

I don't know if it's intentional or not, but for the warrior it seems that the basic "tickle" attack is really the only crucial skill to use in order to beat monsters.
As you progress in levels, no targeted tickling is ever truly necessary; often tickling something specifically becomes a way to intentionally lower your DPS.
Gang tickling is underpowered too, altough I can imagine it becoming somewhat useful against BIG clusters of enemies (like 5 at a time). As it is now, I think it would be undesirable in any other combat situation.
The only useful damage skill I have obtained in the special menu as of level 7 is the Extreme Poke (I love this name), which occasionally helps in boss fights; however I would suggest a small buff to this one as well, given the pretty high cost.

CENTAUR RAID

A question: in my experience, any attempt to pursue the kidnapped husband (or talking, or even just being close to him during the escape) ended up freezing the game as soon as the centaur got close to the exit of the village. Is there a way to rescue him, or the wife is the only possibile choice?

Vi is the Demo Exclusive event, keeping people from seeing the rest of the game by ultimately "corrupting" the game file. :lol She is indeed the last event of the demo. I'm really glad you enjoyed the dialogue and the music. I personally loved the music, when I heard it I knew that it had to be her's.

Warriors may potentially get a speed buff, but are going to be slow characters. They can wear heavier, more defensive armors and it's going to weigh them down a lot. The same is true for Paladins. Think I just thought of something clever to do with that though that will allow for different builds. Fast Warriors but weaker defense vs Tanks that are slow but can take a pounding. Hmmm...

Warriors are the second best tank in the game, while having (as you mentioned) average stats all around. You will be a huge help when you start getting allies. Particularly the damage dealers whom are squishy and will want you taking the hits for them. Unlike a Paladin, whom is the best tank, you can hurt things. But also unlike a Paladin, you don't have the best tanking tools OR the ability to heal your allies.

Anyways, expect the Demo version to be more about you feeling pretty strong or equal to the monsters running around. Later on, you're going to have to look at exposing weaknesses. I'll look into buffing Gang Tickling though, but Extreme Poke got some nice buffs in the latest patches.

There is indeed a way to rescue him, though I'll have to look at this freeze that keeps happening. There are actually 2 ways to rescue, and unless something is broken, if you do an earlier quest, you can see the second way. It's odd because NO ONE seems to have mentioned it. Did anyone check the waiting room where the book was...before you slept? Hint hint.

Hmm.. Iiiiinteresting... So. With the nerfs on rogues, Using anything other than your dual auto attack is pathetic. Your targetable skills could probably not win against anything. Take one atk down from Vi and your targetable skills are down to roughly 3 dmg. Did the tickripple: Feet and did 40 dmg, followed by a tickle feet.. did 17 dmg.. While doing auto attack spams deal roughly 30-37 x2 with a chance of doing around 100dmg crits.
So sadly the nerfs broke everything except the op tactic. Might wanna try switching the target skills to fixed dmg that scales with lvls. I'm not sure tho. Don't have that much exp with rpg maker and the options it gives you 😛

Dual Wield is specific to Rogues, as such...why wouldn't they fully utilize it? It's meant to give them significant power. And right now, you're dealing with Demo weapons. Whose to say you might not find a nice dagger that adds a little more oomph in the future...or perhaps defense?
I'll look into it some more, but Vi IS supposed to be a hard battle. Like hard hard. Still, not impossible, just hard hard. Will look into her abilities and might change how often she uses things.

Run up to the left and circle around the centaur to get to her in time. If you try to run any other way you won't make it. And I dunno why the game freezes up if you don't make it. A slight bug I guess? 😛

Again, I have 0 idea why this is happening o.o But I'll look into it and fix it for my next update.

Good, a mage should never be doing godlike physical attack XD You'd make Rogues cry (which is hilarious considering how broken they were). But I'll double check and see about their magic output.

Poor Worynn! I buffed the centaurs and she paid for it lol. But of course they'd be hitting on her. She is a Warrior, and as such she generates more threat than you do naturally. So they should be focusing more on her. 🙂 I did reduce the centaurs a little this patch, so it should be 2-3 spells (AND however many of Worynn's attacks. Cmon now, don't discredit her actions). Don't expect enemies to drop over dead after a few turns in the future though. Your solo joyride isn't going to continue forever 😛

As in dual attack I meant the auto attack that utilizes phial. Because phials 2x attack doesn't work on skills. And so the skills become obsolete. Not as in the ability to equip 2 weapons. 😛

Also worynn's attack (except for her skill) did around 17-22 dmg. While my mage did around 50-60. And that is a lvl 4 warrior vs a lvl 10 mage. But yeah. I get that I will have to rely on my party in future events. (It's gonna be awesomes!) But as for the demo solo part I just figured their dmg output was a little weak. 😛
But as you had mentioned earlier.. The player will not be the most powerful character in your party. So I guess it will balance out in the late game 😛

I rescued her. Got to have my first playthrough be all moralfag and what not ;p
It really was a pleasant surprise stumbling across it, just wish I knew it was there, so I could've saved and seen the other side of the coin~

Also, when I was in the barracks, talking with the general, after the scene with her waking Nadya, the game freezes when she tries to return me to bed.

Lol oh you moralfag you. It's actually a random encounter that rewards the player based on what they do. You can actually encounter them again and again, but they're a rare encounter (or should be). It'd be like coming up on a cornered rabbit with 2 coyotes about to rip it apart. Do you attack and/or chase away the coyotes, and save the rabbit? Or do you put a bullet between its eyes and then blow away the coyotes?

Isn't she just the most ADOWABLE ball of plump jelly you ever done seen? :wub She is, interestingly enough, her own quest. But it depends on your actions what you can do.

Sounds like, as mentioned, a directional problem. Which is odd because I thought I fixed that too when I was making the event depending on where you were. I'll look into it later tonight and get an update.

Talk to her from below. Makes her step upwards and let's your character move freely in the cutscene to come. xD

This ^. This is the current fix. Again, it shouldn't matter where you talk to her though, because she'd move out of the way. But more than likely my goof. Kindof sad that not all bugs have been squished yet, but at the same time it makes me happy to still have stuff to do :>

Decided to restart as a Rogue (I'm in the version Rogues were still OP, I think xD) before getting raped by Vi.

I want to check out what I lost on the early game with the new fixes and etc.

By the way the Demo goes on after Vi?

Vi is indeed the end of the Demo.

I have the latest version, the sprite isnt there even when the fuzzy bra isnt equipped.

EDIT: i got the swim suit and the sprite appeared again

This sounds like an issue that sortof clung onto your save file when I was doing that scripting stuff. If anyone else can grab the fuzzy bra and try this out, I want to see if everyone has the "ghost sprite" issue.

HEY AW!

I just uploaded a new version, so redownload and see if this fixes it. Otherwise I've once again forgotten to place the character start back AT the start of the game :lol My HUMBLEST apologies if this hasn't been fixed in the last update.

And where doust thou see thine its and it's mistake? Please telleth all so that I might change thou typo.

Or, in some weird cases, melee'ing them down lol. I might consider an ever so slight speed increase, but you will not be a fast character ever (unless maybe you put on a lot of speed equipment).
Ofc I don't expect them to be super fast. But a lvl 10 mage has 10 agility. even with full agility gear I can't catch a fawn without ambushing it. And let's just say... Those chances.. xD
Noticed you buffed the flip flops from +1 MAT to +2. Everything else is still +1 tho. ^^

As in dual attack I meant the auto attack that utilizes phial. Because phials 2x attack doesn't work on skills. And so the skills become obsolete. Not as in the ability to equip 2 weapons. 😛

Well, just like the White Feather, it's a pretty strong item. I MIGHT have a way to increase the effect of skills though so they get a buff, but you're asking me to buff an already powerful item. Tis just silly. Psh. Fa. Haha. Pfft. Pshaw. :stickout Besides, the item will potentially outdo skills no matter what since having another attack tends to be significantly better (thus why it gives +15% MAT so casters actually get a boost that grows as they level).

Also worynn's attack (except for her skill) did around 17-22 dmg. While my mage did around 50-60. And that is a lvl 4 warrior vs a lvl 10 mage. But yeah. I wish you had a lesser Mage to see what they were doing, though I believe I had her doing 35 - 40-something when I did a battle test with a Mage. But hey, you're the Figment. Surely you should be stronger than Worynn, ja?
And it will indeed be awesomes! Just try not to feel put off by how strong these gals will be.

Ofc I don't expect them to be super fast. But a lvl 10 mage has 10 agility. even with full agility gear I can't catch a fawn without ambushing it. And let's just say... Those chances.. xD

Well the fawn truly isn't meant to be catchable by all classes. It is true. But before you cry foul, know this...The fawn is an agility based high exp mob. What would happen if you get a mob with high defensive stats except for magic defense? Don't worry, I've got this planned 🙂

Also, I buffed the flip flops? Did I now? That's odd...Don't ever remember even touching them. Did I touch them? Did I sleep walk over and adjust them because I'm a foot lover? Don't think I did, but now I worry I might've. :scared Oh well, enjoy the buff!

Well, I'm still losing to Vi. I'll probabbly grind to take her on.

Anyways, I've seen people talking about events I honestly missed. Could someone clarify these points (POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD):

- Why I'm not finding that frog girl anymore? In my Warrior playtrough, I found a frog girl in the water where you start the game, but in the Rogue playtrough I'm not finding her anymore. I NEEDED to check that water in the beggining of the game to trigger it? I'm missing something?
- What is "The Researcher"?
- Is there any way to go upstairs in the Lil Pirate's Cabin (Or something like that - the Alaurune quest)
- There is a quest related to that lake full os sparkles? Which? (By what I understood is something related to the researcher)
- I found a Ticklefly being tickled by harpies on a random encounter. By what I got here on this thread, It's part of an quest? Which?

Thanks.

Vi should've been a very hard fight. She is one I'm having the hardest time balancing, because some players (ie teh_stalker) seem to find her as challenging as a flower with thorns while others, like you, feel like you're facing off against Zeus.

Now, in order:

-This is a timed event. You won't be able to find the frog woman after a certain point. So, yes, your Rogue isn't eligible.

-Don't know how you missed the Researcher, since you've been there. Check back at the lake, she's hanging out on the edge.

-Remember the part in Lockstockd Tickles when the message pops up about going back to previous places, as new events might be available? That's your time to go back and check out new things.

-Please see answer two above. Both are related to each other.

-No, it isn't part of a quest. That is a special random encounter that awards those who win it correctly (pretty easy to figure out too). You can encounter it again if you keep fighting in the area.

Looks like things are progressing somewhat smoothly for you, AW? I can not read most of your posts for they contain spoilers, but I assuming everything is going well because of my overwhelming positive attitude.

Huh, I ran across the scene my first step into a wooded part of the map. Haven't seen them since though, so the rarity of it is still there. Just got lucky my first time in it, like always ;P

She really is~ First time I fought her and get her low, her little blushing face was so cute. And her sadistic grin when she wins was a perfect touch. I pity the ones who get rid of her, missing out on Best Goo Girl NA

I got passed the directional issue a bit after I posted about... like not but a minute after I mentioned it... Oops?

But I went through everything, centaur raid and the like, Then saw Be- I mean Vi, had one helluva a fight, then... You glorious, sadistic, cock-tease you! 😛issed

Found a couple of oddities with the "special battle". The one available after talking with Worynn and exploring some.

Anyway, if you lose the fight and choose "no" to watch the scene, it goes straight to "game over", but if you choose "yes" to skip it, it plays the scene. Dislexic much?

Also, this obviously shouldn't happen, you can repeat the fight. I ended up with two Pheromone Phials.

Another one I forgot about. After beating Tula, all the random encounters now play the music in the cave where Tula and her flunkies were.

One more. In the castle, if you move into the area where the prison door is at and then move out, you're moved to the area where the living quarters are at, skipping the entrance area.

Oh, I see.

Well... I THINK I found the researcher (The only woman who have a face sprite on the lake, maybe?), but she just keep being grumpy to me. (Tough I don't know if I checked after the "Go back and visit places" messages... Maybe that's the problem)

Looks like things are progressing somewhat smoothly for you, AW? I can not read most of your posts for they contain spoilers, but I assuming everything is going well because of my overwhelming positive attitude.

Things are progressing...Well not ENTIRELY smooth due to the bugs (thankfully you guys are thorough, so I'm super happy and love fixing all these), but we're moving along quite well. Player response looks to be quite good too, so I'm really thankful on that one. It puts a smile on my face when I hear some loving a scene or a character or just the game in general. Once everything is done with the Demo, I'll release the Live version, which will be partially what everyone is seeing here (and then some).

I have to tell you Dae, it will not be the whole game on first release. I've decided to go the "Chapters" way and release a little bit each time until the game is completed. I won't be USING Chapters, but still will be putting up roadblocks for players.

I found a little bug, when you go to sleep in the barracks and worryn wakes you up to talk to you, if you walk left and leave the building you will start the centaur raid even though you didn't get the cutscene with worryn, and she won't be in your party.

I also have a few questions.

Is there something specific you have to do to get the man to let you upstairs in his cabin? I got the notice where it tells you that you can unlock more content as the story progresses but I went back over to him and he still wont let me go up there.

And is there a way to save the man who gets taken by one of the centaurs? I tried to chase them down but everytime I get either too close or they get to the edge of the town it still freezes, so I have to save the wife instead.

It's all a part of the random number generator. Unless you're a power leveler/farmer like teh_stalker is, you might find some, you might find a few, you might even find none. Thus the power of RNG!

Hahaha, apparently she gave Rainax issues in earlier versions. But who could stay mad at something that just wants to tickle and eat you? 😛

I've fixed the issue for the next version I release, so new games (and old) won't experience this issue. Still checking out the Centaur freeze.

Chk chk, it's what I do. I gotta stay stylish and trolly lol. Can't be giving you guys EVERYTHING now. But I certainly wanted an end-Demo surprise. I do believe someone did ask Bezzy if she'd be an endgame boss in this game, to which I had her first say "Of course!" I wonder how many people were thinking it was her?

Ohhhh THANK YOU! Good catch. The special battle should only be able to be fought once, but I forgot to put a limiter on it! Hooo boy, that would've been painful if it happened on Live. And I've fixed the Skip Scene issue. It should work correctly now. :blush Lisdexia can happen sometimes.

As for the Tula music...

zubGQHD.gif

WHYYYY did no one tell me about this? And if so, why didn't they put it in all caps? Goodness, people have been playing the whole game with that screw up! No no no no. Big Red Boss is Tula's own music. It's too boss-like to be used on simple minions and common mobs!

And thanks for mentioning the torture room. Fixed that up for the next release I did. Yup yup.

Oh, I see.

Well... I THINK I found the researcher (The only woman who have a face sprite on the lake, maybe?), but she just keep being grumpy to me. (Tough I don't know if I checked after the "Go back and visit places" messages... Maybe that's the problem)

Grumpy? Sounds like you're talking about the captain. The researcher is on the upper level, right on the lake, by a stump.
