I don't know what you mean by "not an accurate source of information" and I think you mis-understood what was being discussed. It was stated by someone the Jericho video was a poor example of a man hitting a woman and that person posted a link to another video where a man knocked out a girl when it was not necessary.

The Jericho video shows full well what happened and why Jericho did what he did.

Okay i watched it,he could have drove away anytime he wanted to and the mob wasn't physically attacking until he hit that girl.So,once again he was wrong

My dear,I was in a very bad car wreck and the army did show up,so yes,they most certainly do and when Katrina struck my state the army did show up to give us food.

For Katrina and other forms of national crisis, yes, the Army does come to aid.

However for domestic law, such as this Jericho incident , there is no reason why the military will come down.

There are laws preventing the military from handling domestic law responsibilites and they cannot intervene with any authority. The military are not law enforcement. I don't know why they would come to a car accident, please explain more.

As he then tried to enter the vehicle she lunges at him from behind and Jericho punched.

I am because it was a lady and I was raised that what he did was wrong and I agree.There were men in Blue shirts and a security guard trying to handle the situation already so let them and you just get in your car and drive away.Which from the video I saw he could have at any time.She would have been locked up he would have been home safe and sound and we wouldn't be here debating on this.
Besides if you fight back you escalate the situation where if you calmly handle the situation you deescalate it.
There was a cop who was arresting (or trying to anyway) a woman and she kicked him in the balls three good times.What did he do?He picked her up and put her in the back of his car.
Now that is a MAN for you.That is the right thing to do restrain the person if you must not hit on them.

... Self Defense. Self defense is a very good reason to take such action. If a woman knows how to fight and/or has a weapon, you're not gonna stand there and take it just because she has boobs. You'll get yourself seriously injured. If you can escape (emphasis on can) then yeah, by all means do that. But if you can't, you're gonna have to throw a few punches.

You're definitely over-looking several points here, several HUGE points.

1) Pressure. Being surrounded by 50 rampaging fans all wanting to abuse Jericho for his current WWE persona... actually TRY and put yourself in HIS shoe. Can you HONESTLY say you can think perfectly rationally and concentrate on what would be the best plan of attack? If you can, then you should join the army as they need people that can handle that sorta pressure. If someone is about to attack you (which that woman was), your natural reflex would not be to dive into the car, it would be to
a) deflect any attack
b) huddle/cover yourself for protection.
Mari, I'm a 7ft tall man with a genetic condition that disables me from feeling pain, yet even I would naturally respond by deflecting any form of attack, be it from a man or woman.

2) Time scale. You're assuming HUGELY that Jericho had the time to contemplate all these things like jumping in the car, look for an escape route or phone the police. Jericho was being abused from all different angles, constantly, and then the event happened. At that level, logical thinking can not take place. Only instincts and reflexes play a role. There are several viable reasons that could have caused Jericho to hit the woman.

3) The reality of the situation. Jericho was in a mob of about 50 people, and someone had started an attack. With the lack of security and lack of feasible options, Jericho had to prepare himself for the worse. I've seen the power that mobs possess (British football games are infamous because of the fights between two sides), and I can honestly say that there is no situation more pressurising than that. The woman made a stupid move and a bad time and paid the price.

Anyway, I still don't believe Jericho was in the wrong, the woman made a stupid move and deserved what she got. And from what I hear Mari, you haven't even watched the video... I can't take your side of the argument seriously if you haven't actually watched the event. Basing it on the views of others is not the same because you're working with biased information, the views of the people who've watched the video.

I did watch the video and the mob as everyone is calling it was only fans asking questions and some people yelling out mean things and he spit on the woman and turned to walk away and then she went after him.He hit her and then went and got into his car drove away and then came back at which point the crowd began to scream more mean things and he yelled back and then one guy went after him and he fought back.
So,yeah if some guy spit on me I might want to smack him,I would be very angry.I probably wouldn't but most would.His actions were outrageous.He could have left when the crowd was irritating him it was not an angry mob assaulting him until he spat on that one girl.

Right, this has escalated far to far.
How is this for a great rule, if you have never been in a similar situation then shut up!

Let me try to explain:
When you are surrounded by 50 people it feels like thousands
The noise level seems unbearable and starts to disorientate you.
As you start to feel threatened the adrenaline pumps, your body starts to shake and your knees feel a little weak adding to you feeling of vulnerability.
Then your imagination fires up and you imagine everyone as a potential attacker carrying concealed weapons.
The team that you are supposed to be able to rely on are useless so you now feel completely out numbered.
Panic is bubbling under the surface but you try to keep it together.
then BANG! something happens, someone strikes or a loud noise or anything that makes you jump and instinct kicks in. Survival instinct. The basic human urge is to lash out and protect yourself.

In these circumstances there is no blame to be placed on the surrounded persons.
You say he is a professional and is supposed to be able to deal with it.
Sorry but i know bodyguards and special forces who still struggle to keep their cool in these situations and they have rigorous training and conditioning for precisely these situations.
Pro wrestlers are just jocks who do a little acting and are in no way prepared to deal with these situations.

Yes hitting women is wrong. No one will argue that point but then so is hitting men.
If you are saying we should completely ignore our survival instincts then natural selection does not look promising for our race in the long term future!

So, anyone who has actually been in this situation and has a different opinion (which i doubt) then by all means voice it and i am all ears to reasonable debate. Otherwise stop bitching about things you cannot possibly understand!!!
