That said, I do find it unfortunate that a lot of young people have so few ties to the past. Maybe it will change when they grow older. A lot of middle-aged people I've talked to say their interest for history didn't start until they were in their late 30's.

Either way, I think we'll be fine. 🙂
Alright, BugBoy! 😉 I'm gonna have a shot at replying to that VM now! lol

Overall, I'm actually rather hopeful for this generation. Sure, there's always the negative stereotype, but I mean the generation before us got swept away by the Macarena! 😛

I don't know how the US youngsters are - aside from the people I have met online who are generally very well educated, although I bet this group is likely overrepresented on online forums. But looking at the youth here at home, back during the presidential elections for example I was really surprised by a guy in my class who I never had any really high thoughts about. He'd cut class, his grades were poor, but suddenly he just started talking to me about his political views, and you could tell he was very passionate and had done a lot of research. We discussed the US elections, and the political climate back home, and I was shocked because he knew things that I had no idea about! I will never underestimate young people ever again.
Ya KNOW...I really wanna see you and Dirk again real soon...I miss you guys more than you can imagine...
Ah, good old Earl. Believe it or not, he's still alive and kicking. I was too young to remember him as manager. I started following seriously at age 11, in 1989. My Orioles almost won the division that year. But for 12 years now... losers. They have some real good young players that could turn things around, but it's still a work in progress.
Noooo! I would never move to New York. They house the hated Yankees. As an Oriole loyalist, despite their crappy recent history, I could never do such a thing. 😱
Thankfully my time frame is only 8am to noon. But you're absolutely right, trying to get an actual PERSON to talk to is damn near impossible.
Yup, it's been happening all day long. Very long story short, i was on the phone with them most of the day. Via cellphone, because the phone is also through the modem. A tech is coming out tomorrow to replace the modem.
Don't worry about it, I can't even count the amount of stupid things Bulmers has made me do, but god help me, I keep going back for more.
Aw, okay, gramps. 😛 Whatever floats your boat! 😀 😀 😀

    lol j/k XD I couldn't help myself ;D Forgive me D:
Hey, BugBoy! :hallo: Yep, Carso and I are TMF besties. 😀 He was the first one on the forum to befriend me really. ^^;; We are proud twinniez! :happyhop:
Lots of truth there. I'm too tired to write an intelligent reply though XD I'm off to bed, talk to ya later Buggy! 🙂
Yeah, at best people buy a history book or two and read it so they can tell people how sophisticated they are. 🙄

Ouch, you're serious? That's pretty bad! D: Over here we think it's bad when people don't know who the foreign minister is. People are still getting increasingly apathetic about politics though, but at the same time I can't blame them.
Poor bastards indeed. Oh and my university class that was supposed to be like 20 people, is now down to 14 🙁 The "evening" class I'm taking only has 8 students <_<

    What's wrong with people?!? LOL
Hey don't backtalk video games! If they're role-playing games they are a great source for learning English! That's how I did it 🙂

I probably said this before, but we don't get to learn much about American history in our schools unfortunately. We just read about ze war with the redcoats, and briefly cover the civil war. That's it. 😵
Oh wow, crazy stuff! 😵 I didn't know about that, but I guess this shows how poorly educated I am in American history. 🙁
You know that's something I find really funny. The US has always been a very religious country, yet... do you know why the vikings stopped keeping slaves? Because they converted to Christianity! 😱

I'm not sure how this adds up, but I blame the British! 😀
