So I'm just wondering, only having a 6 team roster seems a little on the low side... Any chance we can bump it to 12? Unless that's too much to keep track of for you Cars, in which case I'd be willing to help keep track of points and whatnot to ease the load. It's winter break, and I don't have much going on. Let me know what you guys think.
Also, I might be able to make the draft now since you changed it to Sunday... but friends are home from school for break, and I may be out and about. Like I said, I'm a last minute kind of guy.
No prob with keeping track of it, but do you mean we should draft 2 teams each, or make it so that we draft two lines instead of one? Because I doubt we can find 6 more players, especially on such short notice.
Thing is, I set a maximum cap of 10 participants, and that's because the talent pool in the WJC just isn't as deep as on the senior level. For example I think with 12 teams we would have a hard time finding enough good goalies to draft; we'd have to change it so that goalies earned points by simply being the starter in a game, and even that would make some of them only produce one or two points at best.
I think the skill would be similarly watered down with defensemen, as there are only so many of them that are offensive-minded. (But maybe we could make it so that positive +/- at the end of the tournament adds additional points for defensemen?)
If you guys really, REALLY want to, we can add a second line. I like that better than a completely separate team.
🙂 But like I said I personally feel that it will only result in us drafting a bunch of useless pluggers in the late rounds. It will, however, give more of an advantage to the participants who have really done their scouting, so there are positive factors to be considered as well. I'll go either way, what do the rest of you think?
Edit: If we make the change, here's what I suggest.
- We draft two lines for our team roster instead of one; 2 goalies, 4 defensemen, 6 forwards.
- Goalies get 2p for a win/OT win, 1p for a draw/OT loss (note, no points awarded for a regular loss), 3p for a shutout, and an additional point for every game played. (Must have played at least 1 full period in said game)
- Defensemen no longer get a x1,5 bonus to their points production, but at the end of the tournament any defenseman with positive +/- gets that added to his total points produced.
- Forwards use the same rules as before.
Does that sound good? I hope it doesn't complicate things too much?
I'll be able to keep track of it personally though, so don't worry about that.
