Sakura/Miroku pic + Vladdie please grow up (neither vital enough for its own thread)

That *PISQUANO*. He called me a mafioso and got away with that.
One more name on my Slate of Grudges.

😉

Ness would look twice better if she allowed me use blend red when rendering her hair.

She says they look funky that way... so there we go... a drab humourless tan.

...

Oh well.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I was just bored...and sick(hence the reason I am bored) and decided to travel into the realm of art...and whenever something makes me laugh out loud on this forum, which isn't often, I tend to post and say something about it. I need to follow you guys around more often. But its really a terrible thing for me...considering the strept throat and all.

Heartless Bastards... 🙂

You should ask Val for a medicine or something.
I'm sure she can cure that condition of yours that prevents you from laughing.
Or make it worse.

Not sure.

Oh no, I am not prevented from laughing...thats the problem. Its just hurts like hell when I do. 😀

Poor you.
Must be clammy having a sore "trout"...

😉

Naw, cept for the immense swelling and pain, haha.

Actually, because its contagious, it has meant I have had no class the past couple days and I got to re-realize how much daytime TV blows.

So much of my time has been spent studying (Japanese language, uggg) and playing Dragon Quest VIII.

At least I got an extended Thanksgiving break. :nerd:

Retarded chimpanzee...hahahaha 😀

I hope you feel better too. Though having a few days to sift through areas of the TT that you may not ordinarily see can be entertaining as well. ^^

I never said it looked funky. You can make me a red-head if you want to...it's just innacurate. ^^ I'm thinking of dying it black again...or maybe a near-black reddish color. Something cool.
That pic is hilarious, btw. ^^ I love the cartoony expressions. You should draw more like this...you can satirize (that a word?) me anytime you want. ^^

EDIT: Gahh...forgot to acknowledge your post, kjiron. ^^ I do thank you for your kind words and your eloquent delivery. ^^ We SHOULD try not to let the kiddies see mommy and daddy (and daddy) fighting. ^^

maybe we're all fighting 'cause the family has 2 daddys? that's how it all starts on Springer...

that's a damn good job at summoning it all up.

btw, you should do some tickling pics, nerrad, i'm curious to see your style.

My posse has arrived! XD

I'll underline what he said there for the record....I don't know this guy. I've seen him a few times but I've never spoken with him in private.

nerad, your Tiger Woods anology was genius. Not as a barb or a flame but as a legitimate comparison.
I dont know if I'm "pro" level, as you say...at least not yet. I am really flattered that you think my work is there! I've been drawing anime style for a little over a year now and I won't deny that I've made some huge improvments.
I don't like to make direct comparisons between Vladdie and I because I don't like to talk myself up like that. It feels unnatural and arrogant.
But I do agree with everything you said up there. Vladdie's art may be his own weird style...you can't make a DIRECT comparison between him and anyone else because nobody else draws anything remotely resembling what he does. Barring any substantial improvements and major changes in style you'll never see anything he does being used commercially. You're right...it's high school stuff at best.
People (Vladdie anyway) may think I'm saying that just because he and I experience personality clashes but I'm seriously not. If Vladdie JUST posted his art and never spoke a single word I'd still think it was bad. And if he was just his usual sweet self and never posted any art at all I probably would still find him to be arrogant and opinionated. These two things combined with die-hard love and defence of his own art in the face of the very obvious fact that it is unpolished and amateurish is a cocktail that just makes it too much to bite my tongue and stay silent about.

I can't see myself acting the way he does...ever. Spitting at people that they know nothing about art or anime if they said I ought to change something would feel like I was being the biggest asshole...I couldn't do it if I had to.

I welcome all comments and critique with humble gratitude and respect, especially when it comes from a fellow artist. not to suggest that feedback from non-artists means less, but another artist I know will have insight that a lay-person may not. An artist (or a professional critic or someone otherwise very in-tume with art) is more likely to see mistakes, even if they don't mention them, and to notice subtle detail and to see a picture for it's individual parts rather than just the whole thing at once.
I've improved a lot because of tips from other artists and my emulating what I see the pros doing.
I look at my earlier stuff and am downright embarrased by it. ^^ I've deleted a lot of it cause I just couldnt bear to have it up here. I think if vladdie went back, say, a year and had to point out mistakes he made in something I dont think he could bring himself to do it. He'd say now that, even though he's probably improved, his old art is just as perfect as he said it was then.
I apologize...Ive written a very long post again. I keep switching to other windows and coming back and I didnt realize how long it had gotten. ^_^;; I'll try not to do this again. ^^

I'm sorry for double posting. I hate doing that but the last one was mega-long and this is entirely unrelated.
What is it you do professionaly, nerrad? I'd love to somehow turn art into something I could do professionaly but I wouldnt have a clue as to where to begin.
I've done some comission stuff. I do website design but that's a different skill entirely. I've done several comission works for MTJPub now which is cool. It's good for a resume but it's not going to point me toward anything bigger by itself.

Eventually, when I improve myself enough, I'd really like to turn drawing into more than a hobby. I want to invest in some more serious materials...sometimes I think it's amazing I do as good as I manage to with a low-end tablet and an ancient pc.
I don't even know what sort of things are available. I'd probably do best just freelance though I'd like something consistant. For various reasons it's definately preferable that it be something I can do from home. It seems like there should be something like that out there that I could one day persue. Any thoughts on this?

Uncle maybe?

Hey, Ness, how comes when *I* told you you were improving you disregarded my post? Eh? EH? EHHH??

I've thought about it, Norm. I'm usually not inclined to do personal stuff, but only because I do the art thing all day as a profession and have other interests for off time. My stuff is typically realistic and I don't know a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g about the kind of stuff that dominates here, like anime or manga [those might not even be the right words]. But to illustrate my point [no pun intended], if someone threw out the name of a character and said "I'd love to see them in stocks" or whatever, I could go research the character and easily mimic the styles of the artwork into a scenario. But as good as I am at other things, I wouldn't try to do a convincing manga drawing without knowing what makes a good manga drawing.

We'll see. I do alot of digital fakes and stuff, too, but I usually don't post much. If I'd get any requests, I'd try to find time.

if you could draw real people, THAT would really dominate here. if you can draw, period. you can dominate here. but, i have a request, if you don't mind. i'd love to see Alyson Hannigan get her bare soles tickled with feathers in the stocks. no pressure, if you don't want to, no problem, if you don't do celebrities, no problem. i'll post a reference pic, too. if you can do it, it would mean alot to me, since Alyson is like my favorite celeb.

first...I roffle. XD
Mass photo posting was done and now it isn't done. Why? I don't know if there is anything new or different I could do there anymore. ^^ There are only so many angles that can be done before it's just repeating myself. XD

One thing that always sorta puzzled me...
People constantly, online and IRL, tell me (word for word) "you're so talented, you should be doing this for a living!". Unfortunately the best response I can manage is kind of a blank stare and maybe a little gurgly "uhh...uuuhhh..."
I know I CAN draw....maybe not so well as I'd like to but it's there and in time, if I work hard, it'll be good enough. But I can't imagine what actual practical application it could have. It's simple enough to say "Yeah, I want to draw/design/whatever for a living" but what exactly does that mean? Who do I talk to? How do I find the people who are looking for artists? What ARE these "artist" jobs? I feel sometimes like someone looking to find a job after working 4 years on a degree in basket weaving. XD
What sort of things do people hire freelance artists to do? What are the jobs that aren't important enough for a serious, salaried artist yet too important for any random staffer with a little talent and a pen?
I have a little better idea of how to start something as a web designer. I'm pretty good at layout and design and I know my way around dreamweaver....but I lack the hardcore coding skills (php, cgi, etc) and I think this would prevent me from persuing a career as a web designer. perhaps if I only did the initial visuals of a site....I dunno...

*sigh*
I wish I had taken myself more serously as an artist in years past. Up until two years ago, give or take, I didnt treat it as anything more than a hobby that I rarely took an active interest in trying to improve. If I had done more with the 23 years prior...I dont even want to think about what I might have been capable of.

but that's the beauty of it. 😀 new sole shots are always kewl, even if it's seems repeated, also, pics of your soles tickled are always a fav. you could post pics of your soles, tickled or not, each month and no one would get tired, that's just the way we roll. 😎

:weird: What are we talking about now? It seems like everyone went into the habit of ....well, mega-posting, and I've lost the interest in reading them all after I've read kjiron's post. (which was beautiful, by the way. 😉). BUT, I'm glad to at least figure so much as peace out. So, again, WHAT are we talking about? 😛

Ok, near as I can figure it, it looks like the storm's passing (And none too soon I might add), and right now Nessonite and Nerrad are talking about Nessie's (Can I call you Nessie?) becoming a freelance artist and to do her artwork for a living. Meanwhile, Norm is trying to get Nerrad to do some sort of picture of Alyson Hannigan being tickled with feathers. I also really liked kjiron's post, and with the Jerry Springer comparison earlier, all I can contribute aside from this recap is to ask that age old question:
"Can't we all just get along?" 😎

*roffle @ kalamos*

Rogarding web work, I've made my own designs for fun that Ive never used but officially I've only created two sites that are live and online. One is for the flower farm next door to me and the other is for the horse training/boarding facility than my mother works for in California. Both are pretty nice looking sites, but not demanding technically. I'm afraid of being asked to do an online store or something and not being able to produce more than an out-of-the-box OSCommerce site.
You're right...I need to find a geek. Or learn to code better ^^.
I do know I need to raise my rate. The farm needs updates quite often and I'm still getting what I did years ago, which is $10 an hour. It's better than the $7.50 I got when I started (not counting the $1000 I got to set the site up initially, paid $250 per season for a year). That's not good, right? I charge the horse trainer $15 per hour but work from them is rare.

Thank you so much for all your advice. ^^ I do need to work on my networking. Every time I make a trip next door to take new pictures for their site people tell me how wonderful it looks. maybe I could ask them to set out my business cards....I betcha they would...
I need to also improve my speaking skills. I have ZERO ability to sell myself or even talk about myself so I sound good. Like I said before, I have a hard time telling people I'm good without feeling arogant. I wonder if there is some sort of firm that would be interested in me...where they do the work of putting client and artist and programmer together.
So much to think about...it's inspiring to say the least. =^_^=
as for work I've done non-anime...that's really all Ive done for the last year. Anything before that is really unpolished and most of it I'm not proud of anymore. ^_^;; Im working on a nessonite.com website right now and that should have a whole variety of things in it...when/if I get it done. XD

Thanks again!
