*SPOILERS* Star Wars- Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith Discussion *SPOILERS*

Exactly. The whole rule of "two" was made to counteract the fact that the Sith were imploding and killing eachother off in clans and such. It was civil war. The Masters, as well as the Apprentices, expect to be betrayed sooner or later, even in the new Sith order. Its just part of life. Just like a Jedi embraces death as a natural thing and a continuation of the journey.

Technically, didnt palpatine have 2 aprentices in vader and mara jade?

Not really. He was very strict about keeping Sith law and order. He actually killed one of his former apprentices for training his own apprentice behind his back.

No though, Dantius (Palpatine's first name if you haven't caught on yet with the ammount of times I've used it) only has one apprentice and thats Vader. Mara Jade is a secret agent. While its true he trained her, it wasn't as an apprentice, but a bodyguard and mission operative. In the same way, Dantius allowed Vader to train a small handful of Force adepts to act as agents as well. Their Force training was limited however, for security reasons. Mara however becomes more powerful over time on her own.

But what is the diff between a apprentice and with just workin for him

Palpatine trained her and she learned the force thru him and she was connected to him psychically thru the force

Because its not a Master/Apprentice relationship and bond. Its less personal and more about business. He does indeed have a similar connection to Mara that he does with Vader, but with her, she serves a specific purpose while she's under his employement. Think of her as sort of a captain of the royal guard sort of individual. Palpatine is Vader's proxy, but Mara is more like a stuwart. Where Vader is dispatched to imperial forces for whatever reason, Mara is used for different means, usually assassination, scouting, and spying. These are things Vader does not do. He is a commander and his presense in the Empire is more technical, yet somehow unofficial.

Alot of imperial officers loath Vader because of the special treatment he recieves. He's not officially an officer, but as the Emperor's sign-man he has the authority to control fleets and issue orders as if he was. Because Vader was a threat to their miltary careers and proved to be an obstacle toward them moving up the promotion chain, some imperial officers tried to have Vader assassinated.

While an admiral has the authority to command a fleet and those below him, Vader is like the neck of such a force, and the neck can move the head any way it wants to. Palpatine is the heart however, and because his authority and power was so absolute, the imperial forces, after his apparent death, were split and some turned on themselves to try and gain power over the other factions. Though Thrawn would later reunite them, and then Palpatine surely would later.

Mara was trained as an apprentice would be, but she was not trained to be Palpatine's sucessor. Thats the distinguishing need-to-know factoid. She was trained to be a personal agent and bodyguard when either Vader was not available or he needed someone else to do it. Such as keeping tabs on Luke. This was better served by Mara than Vader, for obvious reasons, and Vader did the same.

Darth Maul was alot the same way. He was trained to be a pure killer and nothing more. And he didn't want more because Sidious had completely dominated his will at such a young age. He broke him and managed to get Maul to accept full subserviance to him and the Dark Side. Therefore Darth Maul (Sarin) was perhaps the most loyal apprentice Palpatine ever had.

Then was tyrannus trained to just be a patsy\killer or was he trained to suceed palpatine

And i wonder if he knew that Palpatine played both sides and that he was expendable.

He was an apprentice to all extents and purposes. But when Palpatine realized Anakin's potential, what Tyranus meant to him changed, and he became much more of a pawn, mostly a political tool.

He knew the overall jist of what Palpatine was doing in order to secure a power base, but I don't think he thought Palpatine would end it for him this way. He did have a surprized look on his face before Anakin killed him, and he looked over at Palpatine like "how could you do this to me?"

So with yoda's saying in the movie, Luke was the prophisized one? He wasnt born without a father but he did "destroy" the sith, UNLESS it was anakin and anakin killin palpatine was the fullfillment of the prophecy as i just realized this second

Alot of people will debate and argue about this, but I believe we've already talked about it earlier. Anakin is the chosen one because he would bring a temporal balance by clearing the board so to speak and leveling everything by killing Palpatine and consequentally becoming one with the Light rather than living as a Sith or dying as a Sith.

Its through him however that the future balance in the galaxy is provided, and that comes through his son and his daughter. And then their children will provide the next generation with balance. This is almost always disrupted somehow, and as the current story stands the balance of power is shifting again.

I don't know where Lucas plans to allow the story to continue or where he plans to end it, but there has to be an exit point for the series to end. It would be a shame that it would end because it just burned out rather than ending with a suitable climax and going out in style as a series.

How far has the story gone "officially?"

I know theres an Über amount of fanfic that goes into han\leia's wedding, their children, childrens children, etc

I know lucas has done some of the history\future plots but how much\indepth is his work?

Thats not fanfiction. Its non-official canon. Its not exactly the same thing, since canon is at least, in some form, acknowledged by Lucas to a degree and he approves certain story arcs because they're more in line with what he personally wanted.

As it stands, its another one of those purist battles, just like with anime. Hardcore fans won't acknowledge anything that goes past episode VI because for them the movies ended there and it represented the saga.

But remember, Lucas said it himself, that this is the end of the saga, the story of Anakin Skywalker. Its by no means an end of the series. The non official canon is a great clue as to what George would use in the future, or would he could use. I don't really like the thought of creating a new story when I'm pretty sure many people want to see what happens to the main characters. And thats something thats been wonderfully portrayed in the continuity of the novels.

I was just always wonderin, cuz there was a long running comic by Dark Horse that went into alot of star wars stuff never covered

Also according to the books, Boba Fett survives return of the jedi which i like and games have what happens after the deathstar explodes over endor, like star destroyers that survived becomin like pirate ships and taking control of planets

Yeah, thats all part of the non official canon. I think what makes accepting the canon difficult, which is by no means new as its been around for years and years, is that alot of people simply didn't know there was more to the story. They settled with the ending they got and they cemented their feelings for the series for decades not knowing theres simply so much more to show.

Naturally theres a split, people that think the series should be left alone and people that want to see Luke as a Jedi Knight and eventual Master, Leia begin her Force training, her relationship with Han become more involving, etc. Even Obi-Wan is still around, theres new enemies and even Palpatine making a return.

I can't honestly understand why someone, any fan that is, would not want Star Wars to continue. The trilogy won't be affected by future events and it will always be there to cherish as is.

I think this is necessary. How can you end a series with someone going to hell and coming back and not showing the rest of the adventure? In truth, Luke's journey and trials are only just beginning. Theres a wealth of things that should be covered and made into movies.

Even Mark Hamill is quoted as saying "but he just became a Jedi! Now what happens?! This is like showing how 007 got his licence to kill and then not showing these stories!"

heh mark hamil uses the force and becomes cockknocker in jay and silent bob 🙂

"Hey kids its mark hamil!"

"Hello, baby...I want to get into your bank...and make a deposit."

(from a skit from SNL where he had to imply sex in a metaphor)

You ever see the skit on comedy central of george lucas in college writing star wars?

They had it that his whole life mimic'd star wars and he wrote it down, a roomate with asthema probs and had a respirator that sounded like darth, he met a girl and they went out, then their mum walks in and they realize theyre brother and sister,

Nope, never saw it. I've seen the ones on Mad TV though. Those were pretty fun. Although it was one of the cast members who played him.

That was a good one.I rememer the girl got cinnamon buns stuck to her head.

It looks like being despised worked out for Jar Jar.Originally he was introduced as a charactor everyone was supposed to love, so he could die a matyrs death for the dramatic effect. Instead he became a General,Senator, and a historic hero to the Empire for starting the initial move of putting Palpatine in supreme power.Sideous should put a statue of him in the Imperial Palace or at least treat him to an eggMcmuffin.

Or at least treat him to an eggMcmuffin? LOL. Thats funny.

"Here you go for helping me conquer the known galaxy, through war, violence, corruption, genocide and unspeakable evil." (Palpatine gives Jar Jar an eggMcmuffin)

"Wowza! Meesa thinkin' yoosa allllllright, me Lord! Meesa can't believe all the no goodows thosa Jedi be ah speakin'!"- Jar Jar Binks, the galactic fool

Man, I love your version. You should make a comic strip of it. Sideous probably bribed the whole Senate by passing out Mcnuggets. This would explain why they keep cheering for him even when he announces that he's taking away more of their power for himself. Since Dooku was a Jedi it was probably more difficult to bribe him to betray the Jedi order. It probably cost Sideous a number five valuemeal with a Coke.

Sideous: From this day forward you shall be known as Darth.....Hamburgler.

Anakin: Huh?.......Well I guess its less silly than Count Dooku.

"Now witness the full power of my Big Mac attack!"- Darth Sidious (as he shoots greesy chunks of meat, cheese, and buns at Yoda)

(Yoda eats them up.....)

"Faught well you have.....upset stomach and gas, I shalt endure."- Yoda

Yoda:Now I shall go into exile, I must .But first ,a serious dump, I must take.(Pppttthhhpppp.....PLOP!)

Bail Organa:Aw man! Not in my speeder!!!

Yoda: Lucky you are,White Castle,it was not.

It seems even worse now then it did back when Return of the Jedi came out, that Luke kicked Vaders ass. In Episode 3,Vader wipes out an entire temple full of Jedis and pupils, slays a nearly undefeatable Sith Lord, and chops off the hand of a Jedi master of the form 6 style. Luke on the other hand, had almost no real lightsaber training and was still in the Padawan stage. Vader was a Sith Lord and also hunted down most of the remaining Jedi and slew them after the events of Episode 3 in addition. Yet it looked like he did'nt stand a chance against Luke. Vader may have been older, but judging from Yoda,Dooku, and Sideous ,they get better with age.

Say Vladislaus, your June 5th message never went through.

Well, the thing with Luke see, is he has (at this point) so much pent up potential and strength that he hasn't used before on anyone or anything and in this very dramatic moment he gives in to the Dark Side which forces this power out of him, breaks out of his Form VI routine and engages Lord Vader with Vader's own Form V. This catches Vader off balance, and for this moment, Luke is actually stronger than Vader because of the power of the Dark Side flowing through him and Vader's offense is of no use to him, and he's forced to defend and he loses ground in a hurry and the duel is lost to him. While Vader still has more raw power and better saber skills than his son, he was overcome by his son's assault. It was so instantanious he wasn't prepared for it because of the majority of the duel he had Luke's style and form scouted and suddenly Luke busts out with something Vader hasn't seen before from his son.

This is truely a testament to how the Skywalker family learns so spontaniously. Anakin shows his ability to learn and absorb in short ammounts of time, even in mid-fight and Luke is the same (although Luke's switch may very well be more emotional and natural based on the dark energy and his negative emotions than it is him actually emmulating a style or form. I doubt Luke even knew what he was doing, and was just letting the hate control his fighting). Leia would later prove her mettle as well.

Finally, what do you mean my June 5th messege didn't go through? You responded to it.

Man,you're good!
Though, too bad Luke did'nt go Darkside and use all this pent up energy to massacre the Ewoks when they tried to roast him alive.

The message board had you listed as having the last post,it must have been a glitch.

Sideous: Commander Cody!
Cody: Yes my Lord?
Sideous: NOW SERVING ORDER NUMBER 66!!!
(The troopers start pelting the Jedi with Happy Meals.)
