[Text-based RPG] The Supreme Element

Pretty sure you can't get the fortune teller to tell you anything till you basically finish the game : P

ok I know I am bad at these games cause I can never get the commands right but I got to the fortune teller and I can't get her to read my fortune
what do I need to type to let her do so???

Actually, "tickle" works on the fortune teller. But you have to complet the amazons student and trainer quest to finish this one.

And I make Slacker questions mine, by the way. Never found the missing sister on the forest either...

I finished the game (awesome final boss, and I really *wish* I could leard her signature spell somehow. I'd restart the game just for that...). However, I'm still trying to figure out a lot of things with the hidden quests.

WARNING, SOME SPOILERS AHEAD.

1) I wish someone, possibly the Author, posted hints about the location of the 5 figurines. I found three of them (lapis, onyx, jet) with great efforts and some luck. Well, lots of luck. But I'm beginning to run out of ideas...

2) Using the kohl pot I discovered at least one invisibile npc, but now... what to do with the strawberry panties? According to the giver and the wording of the item's description, they are implied to be quest-related, but is it really true? Is there someone you can give them to, or are they just a piece of equip?
Also, the invisible thief mentioned the existence of *other* invisibile npcs, are they actually possibile to find in the game?

Hi! I can help with this. Firstly, I just want to say that for now, I'm not giving away the locations of the figurines just yet 😉 But I know a few people have already managed to find them!

As for the invisible thief, she's the only one in the game. The panties you got aren't quest-related, they're a piece of equipment. And you may notice that they have a nice bonus effect which triggers occasionally in combat.

I've noticed a couple of glitches in the game so far. Not finished, but I think I'm sneaking up on the final boss.

First glitch: I've gotten the "Curse of the Feathery Panties," but I can't seem to use it on anyone. Every time I type "cast curse of the feathery panties" the game responds with "you can't see such a thing." I'd really love to see this spell in action, but I've tried it against the Amazons, who I know are wearing panties, as well as desert raiders and dancing girls. I'd love to find out what, if anything, I'm doing wrong.

Second glitch: While fighting dancing girls, whenever I tickle them, their hitpoints increase instead of dropping. This only happened after I defeated the fire mage/put on the diamond necklace. Not sure which, if either of these, is related.

Third glitch: While fighting one desert raider, their hitpoints were suddenly in the billions. Which was okay, because I was doing millions of damage. But it seemed like an odd glitch. Got this about the same time I started healing the dancing girls.

Other than those minor issues, I'm loving the game. Looking forward to replaying it to find all of the hidden secrets and special scenes I've undoubtedly missed. Not the least of which is figuring out the next, using the kohl pot, and finding the four figurines I've yet to unearth!

Thanks for these catches! As for your first question, just call it "curse", as in "Cast curse on [enemy]". That should work fine. The reason I had to do it that way is that Inform is kind of weird about giving a multi-word name to an object; you're supposed to add each word as a separate part of the name. So you'd end up having "of" and "the" as words that referred to the spell, all by themselves. Not a good idea.

Man, that other glitch you're talking about has haunted me since I first tested this thing! I have no idea what could be causing it! Does it happen with the "tickle" verb, or a particular spell, or what? And does it happen 100% of the time? I can't seem to recreate it!

Hmmm.... Just "curse" works. Perhaps you should that in the spells description.

For healing the dancing girls, it's only the "tickle" verb. Spells work normally. And it's only been on them so far. Haven't tried it on other targets yet, but it doesn't happen on either the desert raiders or the amazons.

And yes, it happens every time... but only on the dancing girls. *shrugs*

Very odd. The funny thing is, every time I'd heard this bug happening before, it was on the Amazons. But given the way the game handles enemies, there shouldn't be a difference. Every enemy borrows all its combat behavior from a basic class I wrote; the only thing that makes one enemy differ from another is their unique text and their individual stats.

I'll keep trying to figure this out. It might be an integer overflow problem. Can I ask: what are your stats at this point?

At the time, these were my stats...

Level 10
HP: 289/290
MP: 198/280
Experience: 18190
Experience to next level: 810
Armor Class: -4
Gold: 1097 Tickling Skill: 23 Intelligence: 28
Speed: 25 Constitution: 29

FWIW i used "cast [hands/feathers/enhance/panties/vines]" for my attack inputs. I was surprised to read that "curse" was also usable for that particular spell!

Really enjoying the game but I've managed to get myself stuck 😛

The quests I've got are finding the fruit for the fighter.
Getting the brandy from the raiders (but I cant seem to enter the desert yet, have I missed something?)
Find the catacombs.
Find the nightblossom potion
And finally find the focus shard.

I know I must have missed something somewhere or not search something but I just seem to be going around it circles 🙁 Though im getting quite a bit of XP from re-fighting baddies lol 🙂

It's funny, I've found the mysterious fruit and now I can't find my way out to get to the fighter again XD

Here's some advice: Examine damn near every named object that appears in flavor text. Examining things is one of your key ways of learning about new paths and such. Also, almost every single area/room has a purpose. If you don't find a purpose immediately, there's a good chance that you will later on when a new quest opens or a new item is in your inventory.

Thanks for the advice RLaine, I've managed to get a little further now and finish some of the quests 😀

Lol! Sorry to hear that Wizard, hope you manage to find your way out 🙂

Im really lost at the panthers... 🙁
if someone could help me here or pm me how to get that branch down in the woods/get past the panthers it would be greatly appreciated!

Here's a hint: earlier in the game, in the forest, you had to reach the robber who was too high up in a tree to reach. How did you do it? 🙂

Hey, Kunzite? I was replaying the game earlier, I was wondering how you can get the fortune teller to give you the prophecy? Do you need to get all the figurines first?

I just spent my entire afternoon playing through this. It was great, thanks for sharing with us 🙂. Got stuck a few times, but eventually unstuck myself each time half by reading this thread/ half by going over the flavor text with a magnifier :stickout

My favorite parts were by far the ones where the main character gets captured and tickled silly (the pixie in the forest, and when you first try to enter the amazon village). Final battle was great too.

I also really like how you hid so many secrets everywhere. I finished (as far as I know) everything except finding the invisible NPC and the figurines (only managed to find the lapis figurine). Kinda makes me want to try making my own text adventure game sometime :lol

Did you see the evil pixie with the feather in the forest? That's where I found her. I don't want to entirely spoil it for you, but what's out of place in a forest? Something you see in well kempt gardens but not wild lush rainforests?

Oh, I found her some time ago, thanks. I think there is nothing else to do in the game now.
Must say: it was a really good time, the only bad thing was that it ended, really.

JonesyJones: The fortune teller actually isn't related to the figurines, those are for an entirely different quest. To complete the fortune teller's trial, you'll actually need to learn a technique to restrain your laughter while being tickled. One woman can teach it to you, but she already has a student...

To Mellow and marcelostalker, thank you very much for your kind words! It means a lot to me that you enjoyed the game! 🙂
