The Dodgers play their 2nd game in recorded history in Washington, DC, tonight. So far they are 1-0 there. 😛

The Braves lost to the Reds tonight, and, combined with Washington's win, thus lost a game of their lead in the NL East, which now stands at 4 and a half games over the Nationals.

The New York Mets are 13-9 when Pedro Martinez pitches as they suffered a bad loss at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers. Pedro went 7 innings gave up 3 runs and left with a 4-3 lead. The bullpen which has now lost 6 games that Pedro has pitch in blew another game tonight. As a result the Mets were unable to gain a game on the Braves and lost ground on the Nationals and Phillies and Astros. Final score from Shea, the Milwaukee Brewers 6 - the New York Mets 4.

The Dodger pitching staff did its job yesterday, allowing 3 runs. Of course, the offense stank, as usual, and the game was lost, 3-1. 🙁 🙁

Well my friends, the Cubs invade New York to take on the Mets. These 2 teams both need this series badly. The Cubs are 2-1 against the Mets this season. Natural was indeed right in that Wood and Garciaparra will be back for this series as they get activated for tonight's game. The 3 game set will start with a 7:10pm EDT start then a 1:25pm EDT start on Saturday. Sunday's game is the ESPN game which is an 8:10pm start EDT. Saturday's starting pitcher has changed for the Mets as Willie Randolph will go with Jae Soo to go up against Greg Maddux. This is a change as Kaz Ishii was suppose to start this game. I can only say that the Mets are in for a long weekend if Derrek Lee continues to pound the ball as he has all season long. Sincerely the best of luck to Natural and Sadira as the their Cubs try to stay in the hunt. Cubs and Mets are both 54-54. There are only 54 games left to both teams season. The time for talk is over. Both teams need it. My onlt regret is that Sadira and Natural and I are not going to be together to watch these 3 games. I just know it would be fun.

The Dodgers played poorly yesterday in all aspects of the game, and lost 7-0. 🙁 🙁

The trio returned, but the Cubs lost anyway to the Mets, dropping them to 4th place in the Central Division, a whopping 15 games behind the Cardinals. Once again it looks like its "wait till next year" for the Cubs and their loyal fans. It has been 97 years since the Cubs last won the World Series.

The Dodgers managed to beat the last-place Pirates yesterday, 12-6. Nothing to get excited about.

I don`t follow the American League nearly as much as the National, but the Oakland A`s sure have been playing some ball. They might just be the best team going these days.

I really want the Dodgers to sweep this weekend series. 😀

Interesting match-up with the Cubs invading Shea Stadium to take on the New York Mets. Greg Maddux with his 313 lifetime wins taking on Jae Seo. An absolutely outstanding pitching performance by both pitchers leading to an interesting game. Maddux went 7 innings and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Jae Seo went 7 1/3 innings giving up NO runs on 4 hits. Seo struck out 4 and walked 1. The Mets came away with a 2-0 win. For the Cubs, they drop 2 games under .500 and the Mets are now 2 games over .500. Tomorrow is Zambrano vs. Zambrano as the Mets play host to the Cubs in game 3 of this 3 game set and close out the 6 game homestand. Mets and Cubs can be seen by the country at 8:00pm EDT. on ESPN.

I commend you for a very restrained post, TF4F. 😀
If the Mets win again tomorrow, though, I expect to see some gloating.

Trust me, Mils, he's not so quiet here at home. LOL He and NT have had rather heated discussions over the past 2days regarding the Mets v. Cubs. :bump:

Actually Mils, I am not so sure. I mean if the Mets should be fortunate enough to win tonight's game and the Astros lose to the Giants the Mets will be only 2 games behind the wildcard leader. I would be viewing it as another important game as oppose to the Cubs. I mean after tonight I have to turn my attention to Tuesday and the Padres in San Diego. The Mets have not played well on the road and the Padres and the Dodgers are not to be taken lightly. Just as I had not taken the Cubs lightly. As the Mets continue to stay in this race the games become that much more important. I just toy with Natural. The Cubs are a good team. They have great pitching but have been hurt by lots of injuries. But Derrek Lee is an awesome player.

The way the Dodgers have been playing since June, you can take the 3 games in Dodger Stadium lightly. 🙁

I don't think with the way the Mets have played on the road that any team can be taken lightly. We swept away San Diego and I know they want revenge and we took 2 of 3 from Los Angeles, I know they have something to say at home.

I hope you are correct, but I am not optimistic about next weekend. 😀

The Cardinals pulled out a big one in the bottom of the 9th when David Eckstein hit a walk off grand slam homer to beat the Braves by a score of 5-3. Even though the Cardinals won, I am very impressed with the talented young players that Atlanta has brought along this year. That is one hell of a minor league system they have.

Today was an excellent day in baseball. I say this because the Dodgers won, 6-4, and the hated jints lost, 8-1. 😀 😀

Yesterday was somewhat enjoyable for baseball. The Red Sox did win 11-7 but that was one weird game. Lots of players forgetting how to play. Or how many outs are in the inning. But overall it was decent. The only thing I had a problem with was the way Cora played at third base. If you aren'y going o get hits it's your job to play defense. And 2 errors is just un excuseable. The thing that baffles me though is Graffanino can play all infiels postions so why didn't they put him at 3rd and Cora at 2nd? 😕

The Dodgers have today off. Let us hope that they can beat the Phillies tomorrow. 😀

I am hoping you will sweep the Phillies this week Mils. I know that the Rockies helped today by sweeping a doubleheader from the Florida Marlins. Great job Colorado. Now Arizona go into Florida and kick the Marlins back into the ocean.😛 The Mets go to San Diego and Pedro goes to the hill for the Mets. Let's Go Mets. :rotate:

We will be rooting in synch for 3 days in SD and LA. They we will be rooting in oppostion. So it goes. 😀

After sweeping Milwaukee in a three game series, the Cardinals travel to Chicago to play four games against the Cubs. This rivalry is one of baseballs best, and should be exciting. I am really surprised by the recent collapse of the Cubs. They are currently nineteen games behind the Cardinals in the standings, and rumors are flying all over about Dusty Baker`s job being in danger.
