NT must be in a foul moood.
The Dodgers' situation doesn't make me happy, either. 🙁

The Mets kept pace with the Astros , Marlins and Phillies as they beat up on San Diego 9-1. Kris Benson went 8 1/3 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits. But the story here was 22 year old David Wright who went 4 for 5 with 2 singles a double and a 3 run homerun. David had 6 RBI on the night. David Wright is now hitting .301 with 17 homeruns and 70 RBI on the season. Not bad for a guy who started playing on the major league level on July 21st, 2004. The Mets beat the Padres 9-1. They play this afternoon in San Diego with Tom Glavine going for the Mets.

Another day, another loss, as the season goes down the drain. 🙁

On a day that Tom Glavine pitched 7 strong innings and gave up 2 runs and had 3 hits himself , the Mets would lose the game 2-1. But this is not the story of the game. In fact you almost forget about the game. In the 7th inning with 1 out pinch-hitter Dave Ross blooped a fly into shallow right-centerfield. Carlos Beltran races in from his position in centerfield and Mike Cameron races in from his position in rightfield. Both running at full speed both dive and they crashed head to head in right-centerfield. One of the most violent collisions in the history of the sport. Mike Cameron layed on the ground motionless as Sadira was crying at what she had just seen live. Beltran slowly started to move as you could see the side of his head and face swell right before your very eyes. Beltran eventually would walk very slowly off the field and Cameron right now is in Mercy Hospital in San Diego. For those of you who end up watching it on Sportcenter or wherever you get your sports news from the collision is not for the faint at heart. So if you see the play know it is a horrible head-on collision and it is a very scary scene. The Final Score from San Diego, The Padres 2 - the Mets 1 .

Saw it on ESPN Sports Center, ghastly collision. 🙁

Odalis Perez pitched well last night and got the Dodgers a victory. 😀

There is a rumor that Cameron is lost for the season. It is also thought that Beltran will be out for a little while. Floyd who was hit directly on his left kneecap with a 91 MPH fastball might also be out for tonight's game. A horrible way to go about chasing the Astros. The Mets might be losing their entire outfield for this weekend. The Mets horribly lose at least 2 outfielders. But should all 3 be out, the Mets will need to replace 52 homeruns and 170 RBI's for this weekend. :ermm:

Of 29 teams in MLB, I can truthfully say that I am never happy to hear of any player being injured.

(We all know which team is the 30th to me, and it is not your Mets.)

All I can say is that is the first time in my 32 years watching I had never seen a baseball collision or in any sport where 2 guys could have easily broke their necks on 1 play. The collision is probably the worst collision in sports history. :sowrong:

Of two players with each other, yes.

Peter Reiser fractured his skull running into an outfield wall. 🙁

I remember hearing about Reiser. Cameron with this collision broke his nose, fractured BOTH cheekbones and has a concussion. Could have been much worse. But these 2 guys looked like their careers were over the second they collided. Sadira immediately started to cry saying that "Cameron's not moving, he's not moving." She was really upset.

The Cubs finally won a game. Imagine that...

well, by the looks of things, everyone has counted us out...however, there are seven weeks left, and if we gain a game a week, were right back in. It's not over yet

I think I heard that somewhere. I wonder where that came from? :idunno:

I am hoping that the Mets figure out how to bounce back from all these injuries. It is amazing that you can potentially lose your entire outfield in one game.

The Dodgers won last night in dramatic fashion, via a walk-off HR in the bottom of the 10th inning with two outs. 😀

Today, the Mets lead right now, 2-0. 🙁

You guys need a closer? We can give you Braden Looper for a bag of roasted peanuts. Sounds like a deal we can make. You forgot to say that 2 back-up players gave the Mets a 2-0 lead so far and with Reyes who has stolen 2nd base on 3rd now with only one out. 😎

We don't need Looper.
We do need a catcher who can throw out at least 30% of runners attempting to steal.

Well he did throw out Reyes but Saenz dropped the ball. That is not your catcher's fault. :ermm: I am however enjoying this game immensely. 🙄 I still think you need Looper. How about a half bag of stale peanuts? You don't even have to roast them. 🙂

Why couldn't your Mets win their series in San Diego? Their timing about when to win is off.

They would have won game 3 of that series until Beltran and Cameron crashed. That allowed the winning run to reach base and eventually score. As far as my team's timing is concerned, they are still with a MUCH better record than the Dodgers. Then you can add this game that the Mets just won 5-1 and you guys are now 12 games under .500 :wavingguy

The Mets came into existence in 1962. Since then, the Mets have won 2 World Championships and the Dodgers have won 4. 😀

Since then, the hated jints have won 0, yes, NONE. 😛

What do those numbers mean today? The Final Score from Los Angeles: Mets 5 - Dodgers 1. :rotate: 😀

I always keep a sense of baseball history. 😀
It helps, during bad seasons like this one. I can replay the video tapes from 1988. 😛

That is funny. Then after you watch 1988, I can bring you back to reality and 2005 and how bad your team has performed this year. :rotate:

You have to go back to 1986 to see a winning World Series for your team.
