And this past season he tore his groin. Not pulled, TORE. There's a 😱 moment for ya.
I know. I was actually watching that game in early April. It was tough to watch. :shake:

The Dodgers acquied Kenny Lofton today. 😀
Now I know who's going to play centerfield in place of Milton Bradley.

That sounds alot like a game company than centerfield.

Do you think they signed him to be a wheelchair centerfielder or as a coach? 😛 :jester:

Jeff Reardon arrested for jewelry store robbery

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051227/us_nm/baseball_robbery_dc_4

MIAMI (Reuters) - Former Major League Baseball pitcher Jeff Reardon was arrested in Florida in connection with a jewelry store robbery, police said on Tuesday.

A four-time all-star who earned more than $2 million a season at the height of his 16-year career, Reardon walked into a jewelry store on Monday and "handed an employee a note stating that they were being robbed and that he had a gun," Palm Beach Gardens Police said in a news release.

Reardon was arrested at a nearby restaurant and the stolen money was recovered, police said.

Reardon had 367 saves as one of the dominant relief pitchers of his era, according to Baseball Almanac. He logged 73 wins and 77 losses with an earned-run average of 3.16 in a career that began in 1979 with the New York Mets.

He also played for the Montreal Expos, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees before retiring in 1994.

Reardon, who was being held at the Palm Beach County jail, played in three World Series and earned more than $2.5 million per season from the Boston Red Sox in 1991 and 1992, Baseball Almanac said.

Now I've come into a lot of money and blown it, but not anywhere NEAR the kind of money this guy must've blown to actually need to resort to robbery. For 16 years he made AT LEAST 6 figures (it only says he made 2.5M at the height of his career). So either this guy squandered it, or he was just doing it cause he REALLY likes jewelry LOL. But of course, I guess other people have blown bigger sums of money. Mike Tyson, MC Hammer come to mind.

I saw a news report that said Reardon earned over $9 million total in his baseball career. That's enough, even after taxes, for a prudent man to put aside a nest egg for his life after baseball. Obviously, he didn't.

Maury Wills, in his autobiography, wrote that he had over $2 million at the end of his career, and that he spent it all on cocaine and coke *****s. He said it almost killed him. Maury is OK these days, I spoke with him last March in Vero Beach at spring training. 😀

I don't know what Reardon's problems are. 🙁

I know, I know, I said I wouldn't post until Spring Training, but I thought I'd put my little .02 in it

I am happy for all the teams who have improved greatly during the offseason. And I am pleasantly pleased with what the Cubs have done so far, a much needed lead-off man in Pierre, (Lee and Ramirez should drive in buckets of runs) quality set-up help, and a right fielder in Jacque Jones, if anything will provide us a much better defensive outfield than last year. I will be even happier if the trade for Tejada comes through, if it does, OMG, it will be cartwheel flips for me. Although I would hate to see Prior go. But even if we don't get Tejada, we will be a much better team than last year, and since the Cards and Astros haven't really improved, we have a golden opportunity to win the Central

As far as predictions go, you guys know I don't have to repeat myself, you know how I feel 😀

I do, but I realize there is no place for him to play, and besides, he has to prove he can stay healthy, which he has a hard time proving. Oh well, I guess that's the headache the Dodgers will have to deal with, although I think he is a shell of his former self 😀

I began praying for him to stay healthy as soon as the Dodgers acquired him. 😀

Although Nomar is a career .320 hitter, Dodgers park will take away some of those hits

At least half the Dodgers' starting lineup will be different in 2006. 😀

Baseball...isn't that the game where they try to get the ball in the hoop?????

I hope the Cleveland Indians can pick up where they left off and make a statement this season!!!!

I hope the Dodgers can have a completely different kind of season from the one that they had in 2005. 😀
