Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

Don't know if anyone else has called it in yet but I found a slight bug with the new conversation with Honey Bee. Once you've unlocked the new conversation options 9level 2 or whatever you want to call it) asking about the quest immediately ends the conversation (as opposed to previously where she replied ). It's not a huge problem I guess but I thought you'd want to know either way.

Other than that everything seems to be up to your usual high standards.

Is that in the latest update? Before I accidentally had it set so that if you asked her about a quest, it was checking for something that is impossible at this point (it was checking to see if you're on part 5, when you can only get to part 4).

That has been fixed.

When starting a new game in the latest update I find myself with an invisible character in what I can only assume is the 3rd level of the tower, being chased by a giant spider-lady that's waaaaay too strong for a character that hasn't even been named yet. Just wanted to point that out.

'Nother minor glitch... I've never used the Giggle Goblin before the second fight with Honey Bee, but when I did, she sorta insta-KO'd her (low level). That's not the glitch, though. The real glitch is that losing with the Goblin loses the entire fight, replaces your sprite and stat screen with that of the Goblin, and the Goblin can't be healed.

Soooo you kinda get trapped in a cycle of failure until you restart from a previous save.

That...shouldn't be happening...I'll look into it right now. OH SHIT I'M AN IDIOT. One second. I hadn't made new battles in a while and forgot that I need a battle scene to pull the Goblin when she loses lol.

@the starting problem: I was told and I have fixed that. Try the newest version that is up now. Um...congratulations though, spoilers for Chapter 3 😛

Here we go: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1MD9B0SG

Fixed that goblin issue. If you can, try to keep Giggle Goblin up to level with your PC. She's actually pretty powerful when she gets caught up.

But... I LIKE money D:

Which reminds me. 'Tis just a suggestion, but maybe equipment that gets more/less powerful depending on how much of an Essence/coin miser you are? Something that punishes or rewards your greed...

That sounds awesome, I'll look into seeing if it's possible.

While starting a new game as Balanced/Adventurer in the newest beta, I came across a glitch that prevents you from progressing through the game, as well as a slight spoiler for a side quest that doesn't look to be finished yet.

In the northwest shrine area where Lady Venus is supposed to show up, even before you meet the Dryad, there is an option to use the Knishmeshroom Medallion and open a side quest. This doesn't seem to be possible to complete, and your screen blinks as if you were taking damage when walking. As you walk, a text box pops up with "25%," then "50%," then stops coming up. You can't even open the menu once you activate the quest.

After you defeat the Dryad, Lady Venus doesn't show up in that area any more, so it's impossible to progress any further.

Oh fuck me, I left out another variable, JUST ONE SECOND. Sorry guys, I'm really bad about cleaning up after myself when I'm through debugging.

Here's a fixed link- http://www.megaupload.com/?d=12HWQBX7

V_V I apologize for always having errors and such, I promise I'll make this worth all the frustration. When I post the Chapter 3 update, I'll go over it a million times to ensure there are no errors.

*Cough* Spotting bugs is what we're here for! Definetly nothing you should apologise for. Good updates lately. :drool

It's all good. Like cay said, that's what we're here for. 😉

One more thing I found. I was doing the Cuckoo Egg quest and talked to Honey Bee. She revealed more information about the spider on the 2nd floor, like how to beat it, etc, and acted as if I had already beaten Beelzebebe when I haven't even stepped foot in the tower yet. It also updated the journal with the quest related to the spider.

EDIT 1:You can also fight Honey Bee for the 2nd time, which I'm not sure is supposed to happen before you meet Beelzebebe.
EDIT 2: The journal opens the north west shrine again.
EDIT 3: The conversation with mystery person starts up immediately after entering the tower, along with the "Chapter 2 Complete" box. This is also probably a result of the journal.

If it not to much to ask, could you make this game to be able to play on a mac and just not on a pc?😉

I feel your pain, sir, but I think the mechanics of the game-creating program doesn't allow for Mac-friendly versions. It seems to be the case for just about every self-made game I've come across. You could try launching it though CrossOver, if you have that, though (30-day trial?).

I personally decided to risk it and download it onto my family PC out in the livingroom. Great game (though I seem to be stuck on one of the Chapter 1 quests, after having to download an updated version of the game), fun times, and nobody seemed to have discovered it on the computer yet. :lol

RPG Maker XP was never designed to be used on a Mac so it won't work there. You will either have to use Bootcamp, or grab Virtual PC (since the game is not intensive Virtual PC should be able to handle it fine.)

Holy crap what have I done...*investigates* Can you tell me what you did before talking to her? I'm looking at her code and it looks just fine...it has to be something elsewhere that prematurely sends you to part of Chapter 3.

*Edit- I cannot find what's wrong...I've change a bit of code around here and there to be more efficient and reduce error-chance, but nothing pops out that would have caused this. Can you do me a favor? Maybe restart and try to re-create the problem. Let me know exactly what you did in a PM, if at all possible.

Alright, I just sent it to you.

Thank you very much for the very detailed explanation, I believe I've fixed the issue based on what you told me. As a test, I played through the game myself to the point you described and I can't recreate that problem (after making the fix) so it's definitely fixed.

Thanks very much 😀 I'll have a new link up shortly.

A lot of Japanese Friends are looking forward to Continuation with a English-Japanese dictionary.
We cheer you.

Oh good just like the Cackling Cave, our Japanese friends are enjoying this game.
Good to know you're enjoying this game so far.

By the way after this game is finished, is it possible to send out a text file with all the dialog in the game so someone can translate it to japanese since we have followers of the east?

I would totally be happy to do this, for any language really. Just...as long as I don't have to translate it 😛

I don't suppose there's some easy method of extracting all text from the game? It's extremely tedious to have to copy & paste everything since it really adds up, but if that's the only way for them to translate, guess we have to.

Though I had no idea people were tracking our games...

Well erm...since Tower of Gargalesis is actually being novelized prior to being implemented into the game (IE: I'm actually writing the story before coding it), it wouldn't be too hard...it would just be limited to what scenes are theoretically canon from that perspective. Then it would simply be a matter of going back and getting the "non-canon" scenes.

How dare you do something that is thought-out and logically sound! We are men! We have to do everything backwards and hard!

I'm searching an endgame-savestate playing a magician. Could anyone help me out with that?

You want a endgame save... for a game who was made just till the chapter three out of 10? You want to play end before it actually exists? 😀
