Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

Acknowledged Procella. This is a big commitment. And I highly doubt there will be whining even if one doesn't get chosen.
And yes a game may be for fun and entertainment but behind the scenes it is always a serious business designing and programming a game.

I will PM you immediately or later to request a position. I would like to help you out in this project.

Also I have a special program that extracts files from a compressed RPG EXE. This can be used as a backup should anything be lost in your development. I will explain how to use it if you're interested.

Yikes, reading this thread from start to finish was a long, arduous process.

Attention the lot of you!

For the benefit of some people, I'll give my own take on some things. I know some in the past few... ten pages or so mentioned some of these issues, so I'll mention them too. Right now this is solely for the help of people

1. With the Shrine Quests, do NOT tickle the last Fairy of the Fairy Medallion quest for a shard. That seems to be what was causing the Shrine to go unresponsive and the encounter rate to reduce itself abysmally (you could still get into random battles, but only if getting lucky or by pacing for a few minutes at best).

2. It seems right now that beating the Youkootchi Fox before the Gitchinari Fox, no matter if you release Youkootchi or tickle her, will make Gitchinari begin in Rage status. Take note. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but someone mentioned it a number of pages ago, and though Procella responded as well, his implications of what SHOULD happen were different from what ACTUALLY happened.

3. After beating Mammona, the Bebe/Mammona boss music will play for random encounters. Face Honey Bee to reset this.

4. Your Giggle Goblin has a few issues with it. Be wary of everything you do if you use her. Do NOT run in a battle after you've called her. If you do, you'll notice some... adverse effects. Get into a battle and win to reset this. If you lose in a battle before resetting this, you will get a normal Game Over. Under these circumstances, do NOT save, just in case.

That should be it. Just in case, don't try to go back to the Cave of Promised Eternity at ANY time after finishing it. A friend told me his game froze when he did, but I couldn't replicate it, so there's a heads-up.

The Shrine bug is the big game-breaker right now, so avoid it at all costs.

EDIT: Credit to Zerous for telling me of #5 and intriguing me as to a bit more on the subject. What he originally said was this: "If you lose to Honey Bee with the Goblin in your stead, your sprite is replaced with the Goblin, and you'll be at 0 HP." I assume this was from a previous version though because he mentioned using previous versions, and because I got different results from doing what he said.

5. If you call your Giggle Goblin in the anytime fight with Honey Bee and proceed to lose brutally, you will get a direct Game Over. No scene, no nothing. After you (and in the same vein, your Giggle Goblin, though her before you obviously) have been brought down to 0 health, it'll skip right to the Game Over scene.

6. If you go into the Honey Bee fight under the circumstances of the above #4 and lose, you'll be stuck as your Giggle Goblin with 0 HP. DO NOT SAVE, it is very risky. However, you can fully recover by sleeping at the camp site, if you can get there without encountering a random battle on the way (a bit of luck). You'll still be your Giggle Goblin, but at full health now. You will also fully recover if you level your Giggle Goblin up (a bit of a mindfuck if you ask me, since you'll have the Giggle Goblin sprite going into the Arrival Point) or by resting in the Pub. Interestingly enough, you will NOT recover by using the healing Tickle Fairy in the forest. I assume that means that the way Honey Bee and the Tickle Fairy heal you in the programming is different from how the Pub and the Camp heal you. Interesting glitches.

ATTENTION AGAIN!

I'm trying to look into the aforementioned Cave of Promised Eternity glitch my friend mentioned. He and another friend gave me their saves files, and both of their files do the following: when trying to return to the Cave of Promised Eternity, it gives you the option to or to leave. However, for my file, when I go between the bushes it doesn't bring up anything. I'm trying to figure this out 'cuz personally it's bugging me. All three of our files have similarities, and all have differences as well, but I have zero leads and am doubting that items or quests completed have a role to play in what's up with this. I dunno, I just dunno. If anyone else can share their files with me if they're this far in the game and/or give me information regarding what they did inside the cave, etc. and if anything seemed off, I would vastly appreciate it if you could. Of course, I urge you not to try to return because it will give you a white screen if you go back into the cave. You can still move around and bring up the menu, but you can't see anything. It's just a white screen.

Would appreciate anything. Thanks you lot 😀

I waited a long time to play this cause it seemed to me to be having a rough start with bugs and such. I just played close to 7 hours of it and I only beat the first floor boss. But what I really wanna say is:

Thank you to all the testers out there who found and are still finding the glitches to help make the experience more enjoyable. And definitely a HUGE thank you to all those involved in creating such a magnificent game.

I'm a big RPG player and though I've only tried one class (mage) I look forward to trying the rest. I enjoy the balance in the game is. Though it took me a while to get the hang of the "in-between" levels. (where you arent high enough to get better potions but you still take crazy dmg) I did need to PL a lil but like 2 lvls. This is the first RPG where I try to stay low lvl and lvl only when I reach an "in-between" spot.

I have not found any bugs thus far. But my only question is does the codex eventually get filled out for everyone (meaning no ????? in the hps or weak spots and such) or do i have to be a certain class.

Sorry i didnt read all 123 post i got up to 44 and stopped.

thanks again. great job. and keep it up!

As of right now I can complete everything in under two hours.

How? I run away from everything, and fight only when I have to. The items/exp/$$$ you get from quests and beating bosses alone is enough to buy new armor and keep stamina/adrenaline items in stock.

You can get stuck in the cave of memory by moving one of the statues in front of the exit....

I don't think anyone will blame you for not reading all 123 pages sir 😛 Praise Procella for his work and determination. Despite all the bugs and balancing issues he's still seemingly going strong, except when his life calls for him to tend to other matters of course. I hope :B

Out of curiosity, what class are you?

And can you give me some more information on that "Cave of Memory" stuck thing so I can possibly replicate it? I assume you mean the first puzzle room (Chamber of Passion) in the Cave of Promised Eternity, yes?

Any class. My fav is the assassin/slayer

Yes, first room where you need to move three statues. You can move one in front of the exit and you will get stuck.

Aha, I see. Yeah, the Slayer's probably one of the easiest classes. I like it as well, I'm a total offense *****.

Hitting the reset button on the wall should fix that and restore the statues to their proper placement, or is there something I'm not getting?

in the first room of the cave, when you hit the reset button
if the king is already properly placed, then it resets with 2 kings,
both of them immovable. if the girl is properly placed,
then it resets with 2 of them as well. however when you bump the second (shadow) girl
the shadow disapears. same with the little boy or both at the same time.

unlike the first room
in the other 3 rooms it's possible to block yourself in if you try.
the statues can't be pushed outside of the room to get around them to reach
the reset button.

i not sure that there actually is an exit other than finishing the quest.

Damn, you're quick. I actually had detailed that stuff about the second copies of the statues appearing that I was gonig to send to Procella after he gets an earlier PM. I wrote so much, I pity him for having to read it all 😛

And Apollo, you are true. Now I think I see what Shadow was trying to say. I was focusing on only like the entrance or the exit to the area in general, not the specific quadrants.

And actually, with the first one you can block yourself in if you try as well. Push all 3 statues down the corridor to the right and the last statue will block the Reset Switch.

I'll compile a bit more and send it to Procella soon. Poor guy's gonna open my PM and jump back at the massive text wall 🙁

And as for a proper "walk out of the cave" exit, no, there isn't. Once you finish the cave part of the over of the Snow Maiden quest, you're teleported out.

edit serves me right for not having my coffee yet.
in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rooms you can push the statues to the side.
(so you don't get stuck) -egg on face

However if you push one in front of a corridor towards the reset switch and push one beside it, you can't push either anymore and can get stuck. One statue won't do it, but more than one side-by-side in front of the corridor will screw you up. You were right the first time sir 😛 Though this leans more towards "purposefully working towards getting yourself fucked over," it still counts.

I was going to post this in general discussion, but I wanted people who were interested in the game to see it, so I thought it would be best doing it here.

This thread is really long and has a lot to go through and half are questions about the game so I was thinking that maybe to cut down on confusion and such that we make a second thread but make that thread an F.A.Q with the gist of all the problems people have or fun facts they might not have known. Then we can leave this one for bugs and new developments and such.

I would go right out and make one but I still haven't beaten the game yet. And I would most likely take a seat to most of the other people who play this game. IE: the guy who beat it in 2 hours.

Just a quick suggestion. I'd be more then willing to offer what I can.

I've started on a FAQ in collaboration with Deus a few days ago.

Basic stuff and chapter 1 is done, 38 pages so far. I didn't feel like working on it again yet, but I think it'll be done within a week or two at latest and should answer any and all questions/offer a thorough walkthrough.

Okay, so some more notes for you Tower-goers. Everything noted here has been brought, more or less, to Procella's direct attention, so again this is more for y'all's benefit.

Pay attention, Class!

1. Someone else mentioned this one, but I'll say this: you have 99 save slots. Use them all. Save often, very often. If you want to start a "second playthrough" file for any reason, I suggest downloading the game again and saving it to a different location on your hard drive, that way you don't run out of save slots. Where the game is now, I save every few minutes and I'm on slot 70. This can be very valuable to us all, especially if you happen to encounter a game-breaking bug.

2. SAVE before doing anything statue-related in the Cave of Passion (first chamber) in the Cave of Promised Eternity. There are a few ways you can royally fuck yourself in the chamber thanks to the coding of the statues. I wholly recommend not saving in mid-puzzle. If you're going to save, do it when you've finished a statue set, not during.

3. If you dick around with the statues and the Reset Switch, you will notice some non-lethal glitchy effects. There may be a lethal one though, but the statues and reset switch in particular make some odd effects that mostly aren't problematic. Just a fair warning.

4. For your pet Giggle Goblin, Goblin's Grin seems to not buff anything.

5. For your pet Giggle Goblin, Eat Fruit seems to be a free move, despite the implication being that it costs a Fruit of Knismesis to use.

I'm employed again, so I can start getting to work on the mountain of fuck ups I left behind before. :cry

We'll see how debugging goes before I start chapter 4...sorry.

Very good sir. Work that job hard. Make sure you keep it >_O Else it'll be a helluva time gettin' back into employment. And no apologies 😛 After just 2 beta sessions for me it's easy to see just how impossible it is to anticipate any sort of glitch occurring at any given time.

And that crying emoticon is hilariously pitiful.

Congratulations on your new quest! I'm sure that employer is getting a good man.
I hope that your new journey leads to rich, deep cerulean and not wsrr.

Does somebody wanna tell me the correct sequence of choices for the giggle bunny medallion?

Its really more about choosing the right reaction per situation, if they tickle your feet you have to pull at your wrists and vice versa, if they tickle your belly you should pull all your limbs and if they sit on you, you should shake around.
