Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

Gah, no matter how many times I've tried.....I can't defeat the damn Dryad. Anybody know her weakness? How can I escape her? Oh, btw, this game rocks! x) if it helps, I'm a thief named Amber Rae. ^.^

Update: Ok, defeated the Dryad, now on to Lady Venus........she's beaten me twice, how do I beat her? If I beat her before I get an answer, I'll let you guys know.

that was a tough fight. it took me three tries to beat Paranoia. excellent work Deus. I'm glad I saved the grape juice till near the end of the fight

Tickling Paranoia does not hurt your Karma

Oh good. I really wasn't looking forward to doing it again.

I'm not sure if my karma is as high as it can be at this point. The discription I get is deep, rich cerulean. I know it's good, but i just don't know how good. As far as I know, I've released the ones who reduce karma and tickled the ones that increase it.

On a side note: I find it funny that I'm holding onto a bonus scene and have no idea when I'll be able to view it. You sure know how to keep us in suspension, Deus.

That fight for the slayer is difficult enough to make me do it 5 times before i beat her. It also cost me the best pots i had so it was plenty challenging.

I've seen people say that they lose to each new monster on purpose to get the game over sequence. How do you lose on purpose? Is there a hidden skip or guard command that I don't know about?

I....can't figure out how to beat Paranoia. It seems unnecessarily difficult. How do we keep her from healing again and again when she summons the fairies? Is there any way to keep her from summoning them? They seem to make this fight entirely luck-based.

Ok so ive finished all the chapter 1 quests and back up to chapter 2 now... I noticed that when you try to enter the frozen forest at this stage, the music will change and when you are "forced back" the OLD overworld tune will play, instead of the new "zelda" one.

Its not an issue, but, it does seem like you didnt intend for that to happen so I thought id let you know about it 😛

Also, you can skip "ending" chapter one and skip the whole campfire thing completely by going left immidiately after exiting the forest (instead of going up)... tower and chapter 2 can be reached without ever seeing the campsite... I am sure that wasnt intended either, seeing as its a (minor) sequence break.

That's odd, it appears there's a bug that has been overlooked at the end of chapter one / start of chapter 2. After you beat Venus, if you go back to town to buy supplies once and then attempt to buy something else again the guard will refuse to sell you items. More specifically, the guard is stuck on the quest where he'll refuse to sell you items until you get coins from completing a quest which would be the blue slime quest.

Hmm, now I have noticed something a bit more troubling. My ranger has at level 8, BASE (no equips) stats of:

240 hp
24 ad
24 pro
24 end
24 tech
24 agi

when i loaded my old slayer file (where i screwed up getting the goblin), which is also level 8, it had the EXACT SAME BASE STATS!

I am wondering if this is a bug in the new version or something... I also noticed my level 3 mage has the same "curve", with 90 hp, 9 ad, and 9 of everything else... surely it is a bug that no matter what class I play, my stats seem fixed?

I wonder if this has happened to anyone else.

EDIT:

okay, its DEFINITELY a bug in the new version, because I ran the old version of the game I have (ends after beating beelzebebe) and my slayer THERE has at level 8:

192 hp
19 ad
26 pro
23 end
18 tech
25 agi

...it seems I am getting better stats overall than I should be able to in the new version.

Well, this is a very strange graphical bug I just found. After the first meeting with the fairy queen, you'll be brought to the campsite. At this point, the cloaked guy that sells flasks teleports in as part of the event. However, before he teleports in you can move around, so if you actually get into the bed and rest just as he teleports in...well the screenshot speaks for itself.

Okay, everything mentioned in the last four posts has been fixed. A couple were oversights on my part, but the class stats one was just weird, I've tested it and I can safely say that everyone gets different stats now.

I'll upload a fix soon.

wow.....yep she's a super boss alright lol im thinking level 12 is a bad time to fight her because after around 20 mins, 30 somthing juices ( to the point if i had survived i would be on the toliet for about a week) she still broke her foot off in my ass. I managed to get her down to around 25% of her life and then she justed started double casting spells to the tune of about 140 points of damage a round. so I could pretty much heal and not attack or get snuffed out. im sure im missing something ...but an easy fight ? nooooo way

Alright, thanks for the bug fixes Deus. Time to go try out more weird things in earlier stages of the game to see what I can find.

Admittedly, even after beating Paranoia, I still don't quite understand what the whole dealio is with the coloured barriers. What happens if she has 1/2/3/4 barriers up? I also find her last phase somewhat difficult to manage now, very tedious but doable.

V4.62 - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K5XTSPVU

This has all the fixes mentioned from the last couple posts.

I apologize for any errors earlier in the game, my testers were (for the most part) testing the new content.

Thank you for fixing the bugs. However, I am still able to get the "unified stats" bug to produce. I have now learned more about it though, and it seems resetting the game by pressing F12, then reloading ANY file, is what seems to cause this. But, Closing the program after the bug has occured, then reopening and loading a file from there, will make the stats normal again... regardless of whether you "saved over" the old stats or not. So the issue seems to be in the "temporary" memory of the game, since it is impossible to save those stats into a file.

I am guessing resetting the game via F12 instead of via the menu, messes up some variables that only get corrected upon rebooting the program.

I have even tried this on my old install of the game, and it still is reproducable even there, so perhaps this bug has actually been around a long long time, and is not related to the new version as I originally thought.

Worst thing I can see happening from this bug is a frail class like mage using these "temporary stats" to buff up for a boss (without losing thier magic), and pass with greater ease than should be.

Anyways, hope this new info helps hunt down the issue. 🙂

Hm that seems like a problem that I, admittedly, can't do anything about. I'll see what I can do, but I didn't even know you could restart the game by pressing F12 😛 Learn something every day. I'll check it out.

The barriers Paranoia puts up actually make some significant differences:

Orange - Increases Proficiency by 5% and guards against Neck/Hips tickling.

Yellow - Increases Endurance by 5% and guards against Underarm/Thigh tickling.

Indigo - Increases Agility by 5% and guards against Ribs/Knees tickling.

Violet - Increases Technique by 5% and guards against Belly/Feet tickling.

Each guard fairy (Red, Blue, Green) and each barrier (Orange, Yellow, Indigo, Violet) is a "degree" of the magic spectrum that the fairy outside the room mentions. Let her get all 4 barriers up and leave all three fairies alive and see what happens. Fun stuff.

Orange - Fire
Indigo - Ice
Yellow - Lightning
Violet - Pure Magic

The last one will break if you can break it. If you have to think about how to break it, you can't.

The barriers are down the minute it says "X barrier shattered". Every 5 turns, she'll put up a barrier that isn't already up (so if you break a barrier, it will come back).

@Above: In the folder, you'll see a file called something like "Save.dat" or "Sav.dat" or "Sav01.dat" copy that/those files and paste them in the 4.6 folder. Like I said before, make sure you didn't save in the Tickle Woods (after you get this update, it won't matter ever again but FOR THIS UPDATE it will crash if you were in the Tickle Woods pre-4.6)

Actually (for us at least), the save files are called "Save1.rvdata" - "Save99.rvdata" numbered correspondingly. Same deal though, having "Save" in the file name kind of tips you off.

I was totally guessing off the top of my head. Yours makes sense though lol.

Actually, when I fought her, I broke all her barriers except Violet with magic bottles (cause I'm using thief) and she never regenerated the ones I broke. Maybe a minor glitch, methinks.

No, she worked okay for me. She regenerated the barriers every so often. I still haven't beat her yet, though. She summons the fairies too often and inflicts status ailments too much to make this fight anything more than tedious.
