Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

Where's knesmis fruit?

Jeez Deus you hide these items like the TIB9000 from Cackling Cave.

You need to give the quests more hints on what to do or else players are going to get very frustrated.

EDIT: Never mind the Tickle fairy had one.

I thought the trader Mamono was pretty obvious. Honey Bee tells you she lives in the village and there's only one thing in the village that isn't a human (read: the chest in the old man's house).

I've added a hint to the Fruit of Knismesis part of the Old Man's quest. I didn't add anything before because the miniboss and first boss have a 100% chance of dropping one, but I'll add a few more prompts here and there.

I altered the lost child quest. If you're wondering, you can't find her until you speak with Honey Bee first, then you'll need to figure out where she is (Arrival Point). Now it's not available until you speak with Honey Bee, to avoid that problem.

I'll add a bit more to the prompt for the essence trader, but other than that I think it's not too unfair. The point is that you need to think and check with everyone. If I can find a way to show that villagers have quests and such, I'll add it, but as it is you'll just need to check with everyone every so often.

Edit: Bonus Scenes are scenes like the Bonus Dungeon in The Cackling Cave. When you unlock them, visit Honey Bee (as of the next beta update) and she'll let you view the different scenes you've collected. There will be a few changes to Chapter 1 in the next update, I'll make note of them when I get the update built and uploaded. If it gets too hard (there will be a good 10 quests or more added per chapter) I'll make a guide for the less adventurous/exploratory/patient/bored to follow.

By the way do you really have to go and collect all the tickle essence for the chest mamamo to go on with the bee's training?

Hey there. I'm really enjoying the game so far, but I have one issue.

When I reached the Prologue, I was curious and decided to first check out what was new to the game. So, I went straight to the forest instead of the village, and the first chapter started up without me ever finishing the Prologue. Then, when I returned to the village, as soon as I entered, the prologue was finished. Thus, the story progression seemed broken.

My request is that you, in some way, block users from entering the forest in the beginning of the game, or, if you want, allow players to enter the first map of the forest, and some event prevents them from going any further. Like, for example, the player becomes too scared to enter, or there are soldiers blocking the entrance. Do you think that's possible to do?

Otherwise, the game looks fantastic, and keep up the good work!

Wow I didn't even think of that. Fixed it with just one switch, thanks for letting me know.

@Xtreme: No, the Mimic's Quest is a completely separate quest, as shown in the journal. It's meant to be a quest that you work on throughout the game. Frankly, you can't complete it yet so I wouldn't recommend working on it.

Ah well because the bee wont let me continue even though I met the mimic.

It says "Find the trade mamomo" Just a note. I met her before that mission started.

Am I screwed or is another bug?

No you have to meet her after being given that task. Just go back and talk to her and then Honey Bee will recognize that you met her. It's not a bug per say...it was more a way saving a switch. I can change it so that it activates a separate switch than the one being used so that if you traded with her at any point Honey Bee will recognize it. When I get home I may even add extra dialogue that transpires if you already met her.

Edit: There, for future versions: if you trade with the chest before getting the quest from Honey Bee, she'll completely skip that quest and go straight to the next one. I didn't even consider that people would try trading at the chest before Honey Bee tells them to, but I guess that serves me right for assuming people wouldn't explore in a game that encourages exploration <_<

I've also fixed the Old Man quest and Tickle Fairy quests so that those steps will also automatically play out if you already have a Fruit of Knismesis.

I tried to. I traded and stuff then went back to honeybee and she still says if I met her yet.

Well crap, then that was a gamebreaking error and I'm glad you caught it. See this is why I suck at playtesting, I already know where everything is and when to go to it. As I've mentioned, I fixed that and made a couple quests more intuitive/helpful. One second and I'll replace that link. Ugh, from now on (as annoying as it is) I'll program in all the validation processes I can. This is a fault of me being lazy/tired.

Well f***. Hours of training down the drain.

You need private beta testers before uploading this kind of stuff to the public.

EDIT: I met the chest first to get money to get items and armor to make things easier.

This game needs serious difficulty changes with items and shops n stuff

Also make it easier to escape. I'm sick of 90% of failed attempts to escape.

Alright, alright. I've made it so escaping works 100% of the time (I tested a level 1 character Vs. Honey Bee who has the highest Agi so far and I escaped every time). There may be once in a blue moon it doesn't work but in MY TESTING it has always worked.

Edit: Alright, it was incredibly annoying and repetitive but I've added an indicator to let you know when an NPC has a quest. It's a sparkle that appears above their head. That will be included in the next beta (I'm thinking I won't update again for a while...given what a disaster this beta was).

It was still good though. I'm up to trying to beat Venus. Get some private beta testers to test your next chapter. So then you'll know when the beta is good enough to upload.

Oh and that "ahaha you fooled me" was off a message I THOUGHT I put up saying that when you get defeated by dryad, you win then you fail if you know what I mean.

Can you buy any weapons armor here? or only potions? if yes where?(guard in jail sells only potions so far)
edit nvm solved i just needed reputation

Actually you probably reached level 3, the guard upgrades his stock every time you've reached the point that you need new equipment (every 3 levels) until level 27. To get the best armor in the game, you'll have to complete "The Captain's Challenge" which involves just getting to level 30.

Lady venus!!!!

holy hell how do you beat that bitch, as soon as i start doing good(or so I think) she just does that tickle powder shit over and over and my guy....dies kinda. what the fuck do u do here?

Are you level 3 and using the level 3 armor? I assume you mean Lady Venus? (edit: just saw the subject line, so yes, you do mean Lady Venus)

I've managed to beat her with a Mage at level 3 with the right equipment. Your mileage may vary depending on class...try finding her weak spot and exploiting that. If you're still having trouble, make sure you helped the old man in the village. When you reach level 3...pay him a visit. (I'm going to make an edit which will make this more obvious)

about the old man

i helped that healing fairy so i do not have any more fruit....rite?

Tickle Fairies can drop Fruit of Knismesis at a rate of 1/50...so I'd recommend trying for that. It's not so bad when they max out at 25 stamina. It happens more often than you would think. Which class are you? What level are you? Are you wearing the next armor?

about the fruit

i thought that the only fruit came off of the tree thing seeing as how thats the only one i found and yea im lvl 3 knight with the next armr shirt

Huh...you shouldn't be having that much trouble. I'll check it out and see if I need to tone her Technique down a bit.

Edit: Hmm...maybe you just had bad luck? I beat her using the regular Tickle attack the entire fight and only had to heal twice...get the feather and try again. The dazed state only lasts 1 turn before clearing up, it may have just been bad luck if she was spamming it because it doesn't have a high priority.

If you manage to beat her without the feather, she drops a Fruit of Knismesis as well, so you can go claim your feather.

What is the best armour slayer can wear? i bought leather armor and he cant use it. It seems he can only use 200g sleevles shirt?

All armor is the same strength, there are just different armors exclusive to the different classes. To save myself some scripting, all armor is available for all classes.

I personally had no trouble with fighting the bosses. Getting to Level 4 was relatively easy one you got into the quests, and I found both Fruits of Knismesis. Maybe it was just me, I used an Adventurer.

The beta is turning out amazing. You're doing an incredible job. I beat it with a level 3 Thief. Interestingly, I didn't have the feather, and doing 2-4 damage to the bosses, going through all the spots. Then I tried steal, and it was hitting for around 24 damage on both bosses. I'm not sure if that was intentional on your part.

I noticed 4 things. It's nothing I'm complaining about, just telling you in case you wanted to know. There's a log event in the forest that doesn't seem to do anything. I'm assuming it was supposed to be a trap. You probably already know this. Also, there's a shiny event graphic outside the pub. I assumed maybe it was for the little girl and just didn't travel with her as she moved, but she didn't have a quest for me. She also stops talking after I beat it, but you probably just didn't get that far yet. Also the tower had no event, but when I walked back toward the forest, some monologue popped up. Then there's one line when talking to the captain at the end when there was no portrait for the character.

But wow, the game so far is really fun. I'm going to try it with some other classes.
