A More Complete Update

Okay...so here's how things are looking right now.

I'm having to rebuild every Mamono. For the most part, I'm just porting skills over into the new project, tweaking a few things, and voila. But I'm also adding skills like crazy (to benefit the Ranger's "Aspect" ability), and to boost the uniqueness of the encounters. I'm also having to create items and new gear/goodies for the thieves as I go, which is time consuming as well. All this along with

What this means is, the update is going to take a while. With 174+ Status Effects (as of this post), 606 Skills (I had to get a script to expand my database to 2500 skills and I fear that won't be enough), and new skills to take into account, I'm working a bit slower than I'd like.

What I'd like to put forth is a compromise. My beta-testers are testing each chapter as I finish it. We can either wait until the game is back up to the end of Chapter 3 (rewritten, recoded, and retested thoroughly)...or I can upload each chapter as it is completed. What this means is, you'll have to start a new character to experience the new content.

I'll leave it up to whoever is still playing to decide which you'd prefer. It won't slow me down either way.

No, to play the revamp (until Chapter 4 is completed) you'll need to start at least 1 new character, who will be given access to each chapter as they become available. (which is dependant on beta-testing honestly).

Once the revamp is completely done, I'll begin work on Chapter 4, which will allow you to use Pre-Vamp characters.

oh okay, i get it. so as we speak, you already have some people testing the revamps thus far?
 
I think the game people are currently playing is wretched and loathsome by comparison to the one I am currently looking at. I'm terrible at testing balance, but I think I did a decent enough job with the classes, it'll just be balancing the Mamono that slows us down now.

Ensuring that the average Tickle Fairy fight isn't as intense and overbearing as the fight with Paranoia (who will be even harder in the revamp. Paranoia 2.0 will be the stuff of nightmares, until the Golem of Gargalese in Chapter 4).

oh, gotcha. sounds pretty intesense
 
i'm fine either way. whatever is easier. i going to start over anyway. would (easy/dw devil) be an option with a chapter by chapter release?
 
The difficulty mode is built into the character creation now. If something is posted, it will have that feature implemented.
 
Whatever you want to do. I'll play it regardless, and making a new character doesn't matter to me.

Please tell me that you have an updated title screen for the revamp though, or let me make one. 🙁 I think the one you've been using up until 3.66 is kinda not doing the game justice. I figure one of the Beta's will handle the FAQ, or are you doing that yourself?
 
I've attached the current title screen, I can't for the life of me remember the old one.

As far as the FAQ, I'm thinking about working on that myself, but odds are my opinion would be more from a programmers stand point than an active standpoint, I'm still deciding how that'll work out, particularly with how astronomically different the classes play now.
 
The new title screen looks like a small village in the Himalayans with the Tower of Gargalesis in the back. If i'm not mistaken, the old screen was just the tower and some sky behind it.

Anyway, here's hoping to a stable release soon.

Aw...I worked hard on the past two title screens. 🙁

But yeah, the old one's attached to this post. The more recent title screen is pretty much all Creative Commons pictures.

I can't draw for the life of me and didn't know how else to contribute to the project (other than my beginning Photoshop skills).
 
Paranoia will be even harder now? Hope the updates balance it out a little...

Oooh, I like the new title screen. Still kicking arse as a Mage. Just as much as my Ranger has so far 🙂

Designing a game on your own is never easy, and redesigning it is even harder. Take as much time as you want, Deus ^^
