Who Hunts Monsters [MV]

uhm will there an update for all non-browser players?

that update will be coming when chapter 1 is actually complete :T

doing a download version is a huge hassle, so this is mostly just to test the waters a bit. i'm actually done with all the story elements, all i have to do at this point is design the fights (there are 7 shipping with chapter 1 and 2 coming later), write the game overs (7 on first release, 9 on second), and write the Soul Eggs for the two bosses (which is another...3/4 tickling scenes?)

so once that's done and i've play tested everything to death, i'll be uploading new download links.

edit: when it comes to /m tickling, i'm partial to nipples ^-^...I enjoy /f nipple/booby tickling too, so it's not a big stretch.

Eheehehe, thank you for asnwering me! 🙂

And also I'm glad to see that your work proceed swiftly.

*laughs and shivers* Very good spot choice

That goblin egg just does not want to drop, I've killed tons of them XD

I got the Fairy and Slime eggs first time. I'm 24+ (only started keeping tally after I got annoyed I still didn't have it) and still no joy.... I'm not very lucky at this it seems

hm, if people are having that much trouble i can increase the drop rates .-. the only reason i kept them relatively low is because additional soul eggs can be traded for gold at Guinness.

Just played (the Prologue 03/03/2016 version) for the first time.

So... a tickling rpg game with a funny main character, nice comedy, smooth dialogues and loads of monster girls. What's not to like? 🙂

The fights were pretty well balanced and I found no major issues with difficulty, provided one was willing to spend some time studying the boss skillsets. I also quite liked the constant, level-independant health pool. I think it's a refreshing game mechanic and a way to make the fights look somewhat more realistic, compared to linear stat increases.

As for the soul egg system... well, it's very convenient; honestly it's not something that would strike me as appropriate for every kind of rpg, but I think it works very well in a light-hearted game such as this one, since it doesn't shy away from plot devices and sometimes even jokes about them.

As for the tickling content, I found its overall quality to be very good. I do like the particular style used here, lighthearted but without too much self-censorship. Also, I *loved* the couple of scenes where there was an obvious complicity between the player and the monster girl (such as the goblin's belly tickling punishment, or the hobgoblin breast tickling punishment). They were a delight to read.
On the other hand, I think that some very promising tickling scenes were cut a bit too short, especially the game overs. Maybe it's because making them longer would have made them too dramatic? I'm not sure. Regardless, I'd suggest to see if it's possibile to give them some love, in future releases.

Overall, a fine little game with lots of potential.

^-^ thanks so much! i really appreciate the feedback. in regards to the scenes you felt were cut short, which ones would those be? i can always go back and review them again. my only rule when writing scenes is pretty much just following my own stream of consciousness without getting too carried away, since there will be a lot 😵 (my current projection is around 50 game overs........)

Something you can do is add a difference between game over and 'reward' scenes. Keep the game over scenes as they are, and if you're able to summon the writer in you... when you 'reward' them, you can give a longer story for the people who like the idea of Angela being tickled.

Or, if you really want a big move, you can add a second sort of punishment. One being a small, brief tickle... and the other being a longer scene to really get at the monster girls. You can always ask someone who writes tickling stories if they'll be willing to put a small tickle session in for the monsters?

that's not a bad idea...i'll probably go back through and add more detailed reward scenes at a later time. right now it's pretty hefty between chapters with 9-10 game overs, 12-15 punishments, and random events that will be happening as you explore and progress the story ^-^;;;

Well... I don't want to make it sound a bigger issue than it really is, but to me, pretty much all the game overs in the prologue are too short. Take for example the game over of the Goblin: it describes a quick armpit tickling, then a short verbal tease, then two raspberries, then skip to narrating the fact that Angela passed out of exhaustion and was carried away, never to be seen again. The external narrator does specify that the torture went on after the initial narration, and given the fact that we are imagining a situation where the girl is literally tickled into passing out, I see it as too compressed, missing everything that happened inbetween the defeat and the rapture to make Angela faint.

The same applies to the other game overs... slime girl has a wonderful scene with lots of teases, but after reaching the all-naked-in-the-slime part, which I would respectfully argue it's the best part, there is very little description before going to "And that's how Angela's story ended". It's another pretty scene that ends before its time, I think.

The bear girl game over is not overly short but I would say that it's another example of a scene that introduces a wonderful situation (the bear girl that grosses out Angela by lickle-tickling her) and then ends right after that, leaving us with very little description of what could have been the best part.

Finally, the whole fairy game over looks like a big unfulfilled promise: it starts with a good description of some nasty fairy magic at work, follows up with lots of nice teases, but then the actual monster girl doesn't even get to lay her hands over Angela's body before the scene's end; and to add insult to injury, the scene fades out implying an imminent *gang tickling by a swarm of 1,000 fairies*, which we don't get to see!

Now... as I said before, these are all actually good scenes, so I feel kinda embarassed criticizing them as if they "needed" more content. They don't, strictly speaking. But if you ever had the inspiration to expand them a bit... I think the potential is pretty big. Just saying. :cool

That's a lovable idea, but it also looks very taxing. I mean, unless I misunderstood something, "over 50 game overs" probably means just as many monster girls; if that's the case, a new category of reward scenes would be +50 scenes in the whole game... this in addition to main plot, seconday quests and random event tickle scenes. I'd love further content as much as anybody else, but I don't want to have a dead writer on my conscence! I think I'd settle for a single reward scene for each monster girl; I was just wondering if it could be expanded a bit, that's all.

One of the issues of longer scenes after a game over is it would take longer to get through all of the text. It could end up as a little annoying to die on a boss, then have to spend an extended amount of time getting through all of the text. I like the length of the game over, personally. If you read it once or twice, you'll want to get through the text to try killing the boss again.

that's fair, part of the reason scenes like the slime ended the way they did was to prevent things from getting too sexy in the prologue 😛

I found a little mistake, while playing to get all the soul eggs. Whenever you fail to escape from battle it shows a message like that: https://gyazo.com/3d08a2e6fd60cd9d3be6b4305599b272 . Unless Angela is secretly of unspecified gender XD, I think it should be "she", or for situations when we already have companions "they"(Or if it's meant to be completely neutral, you can write that "But escape was impossible!" or something along those lines).
I found it while playing the downloadable version though, maybe it's already fixed in online one...

Either way, can't wait for Chapter 1 release! Still hoping for some more feet action in it(And the rest of the game! Maybe Angela could get a super sensual and intimate feet tickling/worship session from that monster girl from that picture you shown few days ago... buuut I am starting to fantasize here) XD
Keep up the good work!

You could also make it non-random. Track kills on mob types with one variable for each monster type, and then award the egg at N kills?

That could be solved by letting players skip the scene (with a double confirm dialog to make sure they don't accidentally skip it).

Another way to handle it is to make a bed or sitting-chair where Angela can dream or imagine to herself what would have happened if she'd lost to a particular boss. Could make that a scene/option that unlocks after having beaten the boss, turning the "Angela losing scene" into another win reward.

It would be thematically consistent with the eggs, and if the scenes are in CommonEvents anyway, shouldn't be that much hassle to implement.

Played through the prologue. The story seems like a fun setup so far. The lead character's a bit of a ditz, but the narration offers some humorous ways to balance it out. Even if it is judgmental about me checking Inn doors and speaking with rocks.

MV's style looks great. Little regretful knowing that if I were to release something it'd still be on Ace. Have you used the other versions of RPG Maker? I'm curious how the interface compares.

I like the HUB world style setup of being able to teleport back home. Saves a bit of a walk back to the Inn. Hope there are some larger settlements to explore further down the line as well.

Did end up grinding a bit, but the combat seems pretty balanced so far (Assuming there's no level scaling down the line). Any planned alternative uses for monster drops besides selling them? Makes me feel like I'm playing the Witcher again, with me hoarding potential crafting items.

Favorite monster scenes so far probably go to the Fairy and Goblin. I appreciate that there's some variety with well-written upperbody and lowerbody focus. The Eggs really are a clever way of archiving gameovers while also offering new content on the side.

Alternatively (and I have no idea if this is possible with RPG Maker), you could make the drop rate increase after you reach a certain area. So, say, if you're onto the third area, then sugarheart pass hass high droprates for eggs. Reach the 4th area, and the second area has increased drop rate.

thanks! i've known about that and just been too lazy to fix it .-.

<_<

...yeah there may be quite a bit of intimacy with Ren <_<;;;;;;;;;

that sounds like too much work .-. i could definitely do it, but i hate "wasting" variables like that. i may just up the drop rate from 25% to 33%.

than again, who knows what may happen once i have the story done. right now i'm hesitant to overuse switches or variables because i don't know exactly what i'll end up needing to actually make the game.

once it's done i can easily go back and make it a "beat x monster y times to get z"

that or i'm sure yanfly or hime has a plugin that can do that, but i hate adding plugins >_<

it's not a hassle to implement so much as it is i'm lazy .-.

i'm already planning to just add an expanded "What if" to the reward part of the soul eggs ^-^

they'll, at this time, be done at my discretion as I come up with ideas .-. so no promises of "x will be shipping with y" i'll just do them as they come to me

haha sorry about that .-. Angie's ditziness gets better as the game progresses and we actually see more about who she is.

mmmmm nope! i bought this one on sale after playing the cackling cave and this is my first ever project .-. so i can't say for certain

I like the HUB world style setup of being able to teleport back home. Saves a bit of a walk back to the Inn. Hope there are some larger settlements to explore further down the line as well.

<_<;;;; i was actually trying to avoid having to design Flower Wreath or Seadog (the two big towns near Kitzel) if at all possible. i maaaaaaay add them, but a big part of the story is that Angie is from a tiny place no one visits and by the end of her grand adventure no one in the world outside of Kitzel Village even knows who she is or what she's done.

i wasn't planning to .-. i just liked the idea of Monster Treasures to sell for gold thematically over "Monster Girls also randomly drop gold".

there may be a quest or two later where someone is like "GO FETCH ME X Y Z" but they'll only be asking for materials from the current area.

i'm glad you like the variety -.- it's really hard to make sure i'm not overdoing things...like i like boobies and feet, but then when i'm looking at these monster girl drawings half the time it's like "GOD THAT'S A CUTE BELLY I SHOULD MAKE THAT THE SPOT"

thanks! i've known about that and just been too lazy to fix it .-.

Oh, that sounds really awesome. I love me some playful yuri tickling(And yuri in general XD)... of course favourite part of it still being feet, but in those cases some breasts action, and um... "other" parts are also hot! 😀

Perhaps the eventual scenes with Ren could feature a choice, with Angela being able to pick which part of her should Ren take care of and... I should probably stop, it's your game after all, and I don't even know much about Ren aside from her looks XD
But at least I am now really excited to see how it all goes!

I will make sure to report if I encounter any problems with downloadable versions, at least that way I can help with the development!

Stork, the interface and such for MV isn't too much different from ACE. You can get a trial for free off the official website, I'd advice doing that before you comit to buy

Hahah, if that's the story you have planned then go for it.

Keeping things in the forest then?

Yeah, that's what I had assumed anyhow. I'll put my hoarding to rest.

I think people should ultimately write what they want to write, but it is nice to see projects like this focus on more than one area. I have my own preferences, but still think mixing things up can give different scenes more distinction. Leaves room for creativity. Etc. (Not just saying that because I appreciated the variety)

Noted. I'll probably wait for a sale if I ever do end up getting it.

YAY so the artist who did the other picture is going to do some more for me ^_^ so expect some new pictures of Angie to show up both in game and out.
