Who Hunts Monsters [MV]

Using the Browser version I got a Fairy egg and when attempting to use it I get the following error "Failed to load: img/pictures/fairy%20info.png"

Using the new Windows version when fighting a fairy I get the following error "Failed to load: img/animations/light4.png"

well shoot, give me a second to double check on those. sorry was out to dinner for the wife's birthday .-.

the browser version should always pick up where you left off as long as you're using the same browser. it does for me at least .-.

edit: fixed the issue with the browser version. for some reason the img folder didn't resync when i uploaded it. it should work now.

checking on the deployed versions real quick, will update soon.

edit: hm...this must be a problem with using the on board resource stripper. it's supposed to remove any resources that are unused, but it may have removed something that's being referenced in an animation. give me just a moment and i'll get a new download link uploaded. it's weird though, nothing about the fairy calls Light4...so i'm not entirely sure why it's crashing there.

I figured it out! A plugin I'm using is calling that file as part of a casting animation. i'll have it fixed in just a moment.

Also fixed an error that was removing the level cap. Level is now properly capped at 3 for now. or maybe not. it's fixed for sure in the browser version. download versions it's not a big enough issue to warrant a new download. this was a disaster, i'm so sorry T_T

I fixed this by copying the new download files to an older version and the file replaced itself.
 
I got this error when I encountered a goblin. I think she was about to do her big swing :/

make sure you redownload if you're using a downloaded version .-.

what happened is the on board resource stripper (which removes unused resources to reduce file size) doesn't recognize resources used by plugins. that should be fixed in the new downloads.
 
Wait... Grizzly battle? There are more battles after the Hobgoblin?! Awesome! I just assumed there wasn't cause noone would say anything new to me and it wouldn't let me in to that stashed cave thing because "it might be a sidequest".

Because every time i go into battle i get animation errors.
The main one being the slime when she uses chill spray so far.
All i have used is the browser version and i don't know if i need to update something myself.

Upon playing more, It seems everything beyond basic attacks is an error.
So the battle system for me is unusable.

keep in mind i do have limited bandwidth via google drive. so there is a possibility it got capped and can't pull the resources. i'm trying to load it up and double check.

the browser version is running really slow atm, likely due to the bandwidth. i may look into setting up a dedicated site for the game, but that'll cost money i don't have right now, especially for a non-profit project .-.

No need to apologize for any of these issues, you're doing a great job! You're using a new program that really 'nobody' has experience in yet, and trying a new method of hosting the game using a 'live' version. I'd say it's been incredibly smooth, for taking on so many unknowns at once!

One issue that I think might be with the game engine itself, when you're in a soul egg scene, the main game scene fades as the new screen comes into focus. I believe if you hit escape or back (I forget which) rather than select 'nothing', in some cases, the game resumes without coming back to the front. You're essentially walking and playing as usual, but still on the soul egg scene and playing blind.

Overall it looks very, very nice! With such a new approach and system, the fact that it works 'at all' is an accomplishment in itself, and for your game only being out a short time it's really quite polished!

On the bandwidth front, I'm not sure how MV works exactly, but is the Google Drive version including the entire RTP portions as well? I'm wondering if it's forcing downloads of assets that aren't being used, not really sure how the 'live' version of the game handles that.
 
Yeah you really don't need to apologize. Sure i was slightly annoyed i couldn't play but it just shows how much i am enjoying the game.
Your fixes worked perfectly and i am enjoying every minute of it.

It wouldn't turn me off of it, it's nice to have a give depth to the story and situations. I'm interested to find out what you're thinking of, though it sounds like we still have a ways to go on that.

Well that depends just how drastic that change would be, I mean if it's really sudden and super dark(Like, I dunno... everyone in Angela's town being killed, and she herself being brutally raped) then it probably wouldn't fit too well with the initial tone XD
I mean I generally believe that tickling games should have at least a little bit of lightheartedness, even when telling rather serious stories.

Still, I guess even if the change in tone was as random and sudden as the one I mentioned, I would still play the game to discover all the ways for the feet of Angela and various monster girls' to be tickled XD

.-. lol it won't be that serious, it's more Yuri Kuma Arashi and less Attack on Titan.
 
Fun dialog. Enjoying the sort of mocking interplay between the narrator and Angela's internal dialog. The big where she found the charm in the cave was great.

.-. that's odd, it should be there. i'll reload the folder just to be safe.
 
Same problem is happening as soon as the battle starts, at the end of the cave.

Is this an up-to-date version link?

When I was translating a VX Ace game, I noticed that if you saved on Map A, then modified Map A in the files, and then reloaded the save, the map wouldn't be updated for some reason. It's almost like the save file snapshotted the map. I wonder whether MV may have some sort of similar issue with map caching. I tried loading, leaving the bottom floor of the cave, returning to it, and THEN doing the stuff to trigger the battle, but still got the error. So, the issue is probably different from the VX Ace one.

weird...i completely redid the audio folder but for some reason it doesn't seem to be working. give me a few minutes to figure this out.

if anyone is at the grizzly fight, try the link now. I think I found the problem.

BOOM! just did a speed run to the grizzly and the fight starts with the appropriate music 😀 somehow copies of tracks were appearing on the drive and that was causing it to freak out. ^-^ problem solved!
