Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

okay i really do not want to be the first
but i did have a problem with the game

firstly i would like to say OMG this game seriously upgraded i love what you did with the intro and adding another extra community to the village

what did go wrong with me was when i was chased by the fairy in the beginning i took the first fork in the road South and looked at the tunnel but did not go in
after that i got dragged in
i pressed up on my key board and it triggered a crash where the music starts the monster pulls me towards the water... and that's it
the game crashed

other than that the game works great
awesome work Dues

the event you're talking about, i believe, is a boss later in the game. Deus just put it there as a place holder

Love the revamp so far, Deus. The new skill system is very intuitive. Making it into a skill tree system is a great addition to an already great game. I really like the addition of the skill "Navel Invasion!". That's my new favorite skill, not to mention that it does a lot of damage to mamono even if their weakness isn't their belly or button. Plus, I get to tickle their bellybuttons when I want to now! 🙂

I hope chapter 2 will be ready soon. I wanna see the new bar game scenes you talked about and any other scenes you've added involving bellybuttons.

Keep it up, Deus! You've already done something I figured wouldn't happen. You've made ToG even better!

Okay, time for my own silly question: I took the save the mother quest (presumably from the Chuckle Oni) and talked to her daughter. I don't remember anything else being required before finding and fighting the Oni in the last version, yet the forest is still empty of her. Am I looking in the wrong place, have yet to fill a necessary step, or something else?

Thanks. Usually don't mind a bit of high and low searching, but the game does run slowly on my computer (need to walk away every few minutes). Makes me kind of want to avoid lengthy investigation if possible.

My own comments/criticisms/geekouts of the redo will come once I finish it.

After you accept the quest from the man in the house with the black roof, talk with the lady on the pier (the one who you accept the quest to save her daughter from a Tickle Fairy), then go back to the starting area.

When you get back there, you'll have to go back to the place where you encounter a Tickle Fairy for the very first time. After that, head to area right before the lake in the Tickle Woods and fight the Giggle Goblin standing there.

Once you've done that, go to where you remeber the Chuckle Oni appearing.

I'll try to figure out why the game is running slowly for some people. Probably has to do with the event dishing out skill points. I may have to ditch it...

Also Chapter 2 is currently stuck at...making Bebe possible <_<

Also adding a few more things (such as the first DwtD exclusive content: a Chapter 1 Superboss...who happens to be another Outsider.)

I didn't see anyone except Groo mentioning the game running slowly, it sure didn't for me.

My comp is a bit above average, but no high end machine. I figure it might be a computer power problem on his end, so before you go around ditching stuff, maybe groo can post his specs for us first? *-*; Just adding my two cents so you don't spend 10 hours trying to fix something which might just as well be a hardware problem.

On that note, Groo: Very nice work on the second FF, I didn't get around to commenting but I did read it weeks ago when you published it. Very nice 🙂

Yay a DwtD bonus so early in the game. Makes it more worth it to actually push through, it is fucking hard for sure, even with weaknesses set to low.

It runs slowly for some. Your system is likely to be well able to handle multiple instructions sets at once. Note that I said "sets" and not just "multiple instructions". Or that you take as meticulous care of your system as I do.
Also it could be due to a Temp folder overflow in the slowing systems, just guessing.

I love the skill tree system Deus. Allows for greater customisation of the character ^^
I did notice a couple of incredibly small typos. Can't remember exactly where the first one is, but they go like this:

The Tower of Gargalesis said:
1: ... your, quivering thighs...
2: <class> you say...

1: That comma should not be there, just for the sake of grammatical correctness.
2: I'm thinking there should be a comma after <class>. But that's just me.
These were probably mentioned before (in fact I'm sure of it) but I felt like mentioning them anyhow.

Lady Venus does feel a little easier, IMO. But perhaps a tryout of DwtD mode is in order just to see how much she will kick my ass. Hunties are more kickass now, even with the debilitating weakspot.
Awesome work ^^

Lady Venus is probably easier due to the removal of her Stun attack. I could always put that back in...

The Superboss will be tricky, but I hardly think she'll be anywhere near Paranoia's level of frustration. She only has 5 attacks, and they all do pretty standard damage.

However, working on said superboss, Haha, I've discovered why updates for "new" content take so long. I absolutely cannot write tickling scenes to save my life. I've been staring at the same text box for about an hour now, just staring. I can't for the life of me figure out why. And this is just for the victory scene. I dread writing the Game Over scene for the boss.

So, we're back to square one pretty much. On the plus side, once I submit a fix on Bebe to my testers, Chapter 2 should be coming out soon.

The Game does occassionally run slow for me too. It seems random. I've noticed when I put my laptop in "power saving mode" the game slows down, so I figured it was a general thing with the program rather than anything Deus is responsible for. If you guys are seeing a slowdown constantly, I'd guess try saving and reseting, otherwise you got me.

On Lady V being easier: Before, there was only one mode. Now with two, the easier mode will probably have all the bosses easier. After all, the 'hard' mode still needs to be do-able, and not in a "this'll take an hour and not be fun at all" way. DwtD is the only one that gets cool stuff at the end too, IIRC. Since Deus was trying to kick our asses before, I'd say DwtD is closer to the original, with the other being an "easy" mode for those of us wanting to avoid frustration.

Also, too: I like the newer, more playful Honey Bee. Gives me a twinge of regret for when I inevitably choose Hathor or Aello over her. If only I could decide between the two...

I doubt that you can't write tickling scenes. If you are the one that's written the scenes in the game thus far, then you can't make the claim that you can't write tickling scenes. They're all nicely discriptive and well written. However, I can understand how it can get difficult to keep writing after you've been doing it for a while. Once you get writer's block, it's really freaking hard to get around it.

Well, here's hoping that you don't just give up. I know it's gotta be hard as hell to keep writing, but please don't give up on such an awesome game.

Honestly, this game is right up there with Chrono Trigger in my book.

When you/your laptop sets itself to power saving mode, it reduces its (cpu, graphics...)power, thus making the game lag. That'd be the most logical explanation to me, anyway.

@Deus: That's such a weird thing to say for someone who has written some of the most brilliant tickling scenes I've read so far. But with the amount you're going for, I guess it just gets harder and harder. I'm not sure, not an author 🙂 But I did notice the scenes being in an even higher quality again with the revamp, compared to when you just "had" to write them because the rest of the chapter was already done. (think the boss with class/gender specific scenes for example)

There are many tickling fiction writers that can assist you with this. As for my opinion? The tickling scenes you have in Tower of Gargalesis have already been powerfully erotic to me. Damn right arousing. Grammar structure aside, you already have a natural idea of how to progress tickling from a basic initiation of sensation into an actual response.

That connection, as a 'ler and a 'lee is what I need in any tickling fiction for me to understand how the tickling is being done and how it's being felt. You nail these for the most part~ and if you need any assistance with either, I would gladly love to, or any of your beta testers I am sure... but don't sell yourself short, I'd much rather be surprised if it can be helped.

Nothing you've done has felt like a disappointment so far, and I doubt it'll be that way any time soon.

Your absolute intensity is what I absolutely love about these tickling scenes. It is your taste, as well as mine. It isn't about the giggles, or the light touches that go into the realm of fun. It may be erotic, arousing~ but it's not meant for fun. You're not afraid to take the player into a fate that yes, indeed~ their greatest fetish and source of arousal may very well indeed be their greatest peril. It's quite intoxicating.

Ahh HA!

I'm been lurking for months, MONTHS I tell you! I wasn't able to log in for some weird reason but I finally figured out a way around it, so now I can actually post instead of just reading what everyone is saying.

Anyway, I love the newest update. I played as a ranger in the old game but figured I would try a thief this time, hoping they would be worth it now and I was not disappointed. The stealing and item crafting makes them really different and fun, in fact I might stick with them instead of going back to my other character once old save files are compatible.

On a unrelated topic, I remember people talking about having different expressions for the character icons a while back. After studying the ones in Labyrinth of Laughter (which abbreviates to LoL...can't believe I didn't notice till now) they only change the mouth and the eyes for the most part. The heads and hair stay exactly the same for each character which means doing this for ToG wouldn't be as hard as it might seem at first. I experimented with doing this and I can't say I'm happy with the result but with more practice I might be able to get it right. However I don't think it's worth it unless,

1. The expressions are just right, which can be hard to do.

2. The art matches with the style of the rest of the icons so people don't get distracted by the change.

I'm attaching what I did to see if anyone thought this was worth pressuring more and maybe to encourage someone more skilled then me to try.

Well other than Game Over/Victory scenes and testing, the Chapter 1 DWTD superboss is done. There's a Saffron City Gym type dungeon before you get to her, which I thought just looked cool.

Lurka: For the most part, just this one game-spanning sidequest which involves a second Outsider. There may be a few more here and there, but the biggest is this sidequest. The other big difference is the Epilogue (which is primarily fluff leading up to a final showdown with the spirits of Gargalesis and Knismesis) and the ability to unlock Josephine Halisburg as a playable character (the Outsider from the novelization I'm writing).

Wow. Just...wow. I 2nd everything here.

One question, one comment with a question in it, and one plain comment:

Question: Which class has that navel invasion attack? >3>

Comment: SKILL TREEEEES~ I love skill trees. I'm probably the only one who does. But I must ask, will there be a way to, in the future, reset your skill points to re-distribute them?

Other comment: I leveled up once and put another point into the basic target tickles and thus made Lady Venus a pushover. :B;

@Lurka: Yes, DwtD mode has extra stuff. Only the brave get the truly awesome stuff!

@Inverse: Wow. Well said. Since the game is combative, naturally that's the style. But I think farther in there will be some playful, lighter stuff from the friendly mamono of our choosing. Both have their place, and will likely continue to be awesome.

@Zerous: The thief has the navel invasion, but it'll be a while before we get far enough in to use it. It's at the bottom of the Gargalesis tree. A reset might be prudent in the future, but it might be too early to say.

Does leveling up the target spots really make a difference? I put all my points into stamina when I could. I seem to be a very defensive minded thief. Then again, I am dancing with the devil...

Thanks - I do recall all that now, but eh, Alzheimer's moment.

My laptop is a worthy old machine that has withstood major viruses. I'd wager the reason behind my slowdowns is some combination of age and clutter of deleted-but-not-really programs. It's a personal thing - I'm certainly not looking for the game to be changed because of it.

And speaking of the game:

Of the revamp, my own play-through has been as the mage. Overall, the whole affair was a lot easier. I've found that spamming tickle wisp and feather fire was sufficient for the entire first chapter. The only one I briefly has a hangup on was the Chuckle Oni. These points aren't particularly bad - most RPG's have limited options and lower difficulty at the beginning. And it was noted by a villager that some later Mamono would be immune to magic...

Focus appears useless - two attacks invariably did more damage for me than a charged one. It is, however, required to break into that beautiful healing spell that no adventuring party should leave home without. The skill tier system looks interesting, though point-buy systems have always encouraged spamming a single "best" power. Jury's still out, but the differing elemental weaknesses and strengths should help on that count. Even more importantly, with only one character, over specialization could lead to disaster against the wrong enemy. I didn't level up to test it at all - just put points in the basics along with a yummy +50 stamina.

As a rule, I hate remakes. I hate trying to edit my own completed work, and I usually want developers to focus on new material rather than trying to make old stuff "better." What really made this great for me was the writing. And not the fappable writing - while deep in the way Inverse said, there were just a few new scenes at the start and the rest was unchanged. I mean the character of the Outsider. Rather than a boring avatar for the player, right at the start were mentioned names and family members, paving the way for future flashbacks and development. Even if not developed, they simply add life to the character beyond immediate concerns. The reaction to situations was also completely natural. It went from:

*Beat monsters by tickling them!
Outsider: Oh...weird. Okay.

to:

*Beat monsters by tickling them!
Outsider: Wait, what? WHAT?!! What the hell is wrong with you people? And you monsters, what the hell is wrong with you? This is crazy! Oh, fuck my ass...NO, NOT LITERALLY!!

The new scenes with the Outsider sitting depressed in the bar and nervous as she tries to go to sleep sat very well with me - it made the person feel human. Her exhaustion after the battle with Venus and paranoia of others also contribute well to the character. Less poetically, these additions also give the game a plot beyond the fap and the battle. Two thumbs up.

Honey Bee also gets a bit more screen time to positive effect. Rather than the tutorial mechanic, her quest has a fairly natural lead-up. Instead of randomly attacking the Outsider for fun and passion, the message is well conveyed that it'd be a good "final test." Three chapters of semi-romantic plot with Honey Bee, and I felt there wasn't much beyond sexual passion and a vague feeling of responsibility between them. After this one, I can really see why the Outsider might fall in love with her. It's neither too cutesy nor too sex-reliant. I "aaaaaawed" when Honey Bee offered to watch over her at night, and I laughed when she admitted it wouldn't entirely be a benign watch.

Oh, and the new sprites and special effects were a nice touch.

Predictably, I'm a big fan of the Giggle Goblin friend. Given that the non-tickle plot has gotten a major facelift, I'm very much looking forward to seeing her in part 2. Also looking forward to moments that I might not quite be expecting, which were the greatest moments in this. And I'm looking forward to everything else as well.

In the meantime, think I'll give DwtD a try as a...slayer or soldier? Sure, let's roll.

This is completely shameless but i had to steal the 2000th post spot. so congrats to Deus for having a thread get that far.

Uhh....I hate to tell you, but your post is #2001. Wanderer Groo beat you to the 2000th post.

On that note, gratz Deus. I'm fairly sure this thread has more posts than any other in the Artwork section of the site. Then again, I haven't actually checked beforehand and don't know for certian. I'm really only ever interested in this thread and ignore the others. (Unless they mention bellybutton tickling.)
