Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

Last post for now, I swear:

Caged and all other thieves: OJ is for the other classes. Thieves can make better stuff. As a thief you'll need to heal more often than other classes, but get better healing items to balance out. Get some carrot juice, bitter tonics, potent elixirs and Easter treats. All that really helps out in the big fights. Try them out and figure which ones work for you, some have side effects. Hathor is meant to be done at L5-6, and if a thief has the right stuff its definitely doable.

Cay, I do agree that the final Garg item isn't that great. +10% Prof, tech & Agi, -10% Stamina, Adr, & End? Seems like more of a 50/50 trade, but Deus has superior knowledge that may make this analysis stupid.

True, he should know best, I'm curious to see what he'll say.

(PS, Cay, didn't Deus say you had to start the other Outsider quest BEFORE entering the Tower? If you didn't get the bell yet, you might be up a creek.)

I've not progressed my DwtD save since the update, so it sits at the forest after the HB fight. I haven't had much time sadly, and I've been devoting what little I had to an easy mode save, because it doesn't require me to actually use my brain and/or invest too much time. That is also why I didnt state any opinion on the update yet. I appreciate the warning/thought tho 🙂

In the newest version, I started a Soldier.
After gaining the Turtle Up ability during Honey Bee's Training, I went after the Giggle Goblin, as per the quest. Obviously, I'm level 1.
The quest tells you to try activating your new ability, so I activated Turtle Up. After that, I was so weak after doing that that the Giggle Goblin was unaffected by any of my tickles, even to her weakest spot.
And since I couldn't escape, I was helpless, watching my hp slowly go down 1 point at a time while I couldn't fight back at all.

AnimeWatcher, you beat Bebe without... damn. How? I guess you're not dancing with the devil?

You're correct Car, I am not in DwtD mode, but it should be similar. Make sure you're a good lvl, have the best armor and weapons you can, and have lots...and lots... of juices. I played the pub game a lot and stockpiled on Apple Juice, but even then I had to use a couple of Hathor's Milk. They're something to hold onto, unless you plan to have Hathor as your mate come later, but boss fights tend to be the best place to use one. And remember - Fire, Fire, Fire. If you can get a burn, even better, but it's mostly just swapping blows and downing the juice. It's going to be a long fight, no matter what.
Oh, and like Deus said - the Imp. Stamina skill is something you NEED to go for. Maxing it out for my Mage gives me enough room to attack every other turn or so.

Also, I think it's wise not to level TOO much as enemies do scale better with your level. If you over level, you might find you've buffed the boss to god-like ability, so watch out.

I'll test out a DwtD version of the Mage later, and a few of the weaker classes too, to see what else you could do.

Btw, Technique DOES affect your spells, as I did 390 - 550 per lvl 2 fire spell with the White Feather compared to the 130 w/ paintbrush. Deus even mentions on the first page how Mage has the highest Technique among the classes.

Lvl 30 Adventurer Verses Giggle Goblin.

Bare Hands + PoG Damage = 210/194/201 = 201 Avg.

Bare Hands Damage = 149/146/152 = 149 Avg.

Black Feather + PoG Damage = 455/459/498 = 470 Avg.

Black Feather Damage = 380/394/412 = 395 Avg.

Black Feather Belly Tickle v Giggle Goblin

W/ PoG = 583/639/595 = 605 Avg.

W/o PoG = 513/534/588 = 545 Avg.

Player Proficiency Bare Hands = 91

Player Proficiency Bare Hands + PoG = 101

Player Proficiency Black Feather = 135

Player Proficiency Black Feather + PoG = 145

---

So take that for what you will on "Is it worth it" for the most part, it seems to add roughly 62 damage to your attack at level 30. This isn't factoring in stronger abilities, of course, nor does it factor in other passives you'll pick up along the way.

I'd be willing to tweak the Power skills, however, my intention is that selecting a "Power" is ultimately picking that branch (Gargalesis/Knismesis) as your specialty. In keeping with the lore, taking one constitutes weakening your affinity for the other.

However, it'd be one way or the other. Either I buff the positives, or nerf the negatives. I'm leaning towards buffing the positives, personally.

Sole Sheathe was lower than I remembered, so I buffed that to be +10/-5 at the maximum level (effectively giving you 10% more resistance to foot tickling). This is one of the inconsistencies that arose from the 4 month period between working on the game.

Adrenaline Puddle is the first rank of the "Increase Adrenaline" skill, therefore the subsequent skills require a point in Adrenaline Puddle.

I tweaked Hathor's priorities slightly, she shouldn't spam Lickle so much now.

At the soldier issue, no clue why that was the case, but I fixed it. Apparently at level 1, even an insignificant 5% drop renders your helpless. I just removed the proficiency drop until Turtle II.

Some non-problematic glitches I've found:

Attempt to go into the snow region with the Snow Maiden causes the game to turn off music(correctly), but when you're pushed back out the music is twice as loud until you exit and re-enter the world map.

During the Goblin Raid, when fighting the Giggle Goblin gang, sometimes the image of another goblin can appear when you've taken one or two out. She doesn't attack, doesn't defend, is untargetable, and the game doesn't recognize her, so she essentially is just an image. Still really weird.

If you go back into the tower after beating Beelzebebe, the victims are still laying around where she was instead of being permanently removed.

another bug after defeating Beelzebebe, u still cant go back to the dungeon where the blue slime and the amazone were. Says you can't because you have 2 go save the three humans.

Findings
  • A Good Offense and A Better Offense give +End/-Tech. The Best Offense is +End/-Prof. Intentional?
  • Hypertouch III says "-15% Spi" instead of "-15% Tech."
  • Caress of Darkness doesn't actually have the Darkness element.
  • Mage skill descriptions don't mention the status effects they cause (Blinded, Tired, etc.).
  • Knismese Barrier's icon looks sort of translucent/grayed-out even when it's available for investment. Maybe it blends in with the background. It's a deceptive visual cue. Is there a brighter icon available?

Does soaking with Bubbly Splash cause bonus damage when hitting with Tingling Jolt?

P.S. Flavor text for "The Juggernaut" is hilarious.

Lurka: The 1-4 range you initially set ends up being on a 1-200 scale, making your choices 50, 100, 150, or 200. Essentially, these are percentages of a "normal" hit, since before the customization all the non-spot body parts (like thighs for a Mage) were 2's.
If it goes by increments of 50%, it may be best to avoid showing players flat numbers (-1, +10, etc.) for resistances, as it's confusing.

Looking at the Mage tree, +1 foot resist -1 technique may seem not worth it. But isn't technique the physical attack skill? If so, do you need technique at all as a Mage? (I've no clue, I primarily play a thief).
Technique (spirit) is magic. Proficiency (attack) is physical.

But you don't have to put points into either of those. And frankly, you won't have the points to. Mages look like they'll need to spend most of their points in the Garg tree to learn and level spells. YMMV.
I reject the argument "X is too expensive for you to realistically afford Y, so it's okay for Y to suck."

If it's never affordable, reevaluate costs.
If it sucks and can't be fixed, replace it or remove it.
If it's affordable and doesn't suck, then great, keep it.

*Finishes beating Calypso, finally realizing her weaknesses* Note to mages, get at least one point into fire and ice

Hey, really enjoying the wow style talent points 🙂 i am a bit of a foot fan, and am just wondering which classes have a foot specific special tickle? (im guessing in the gragalesis tree)?

The Giggle Goblin appears to start at level 1, according to the "check stats" option.

Still working on my playthrough. Finding the white feather makes things astoundingly easier, so much so that I may forsake it for more interesting combat. The Giggle Goblin got another "aaaaaaawww" from me, this one even longer for the added dialogue. Look forward to earning the heart-to-heart.

She's level 6 when I just checked it...weird, you people and your glitches I can't figure out. I've put in a fail safe to ensure she starts at level 6, which shouldn't be an issue honestly. But, it requires that you acquire her again. If she's currently level 1, I'll put in a character to fix that.

OOOOOOOOOH. I'm an idiot, I used a variable twice. That's why. Her "Affection Level" is 1, therefore, it shows her level as 1. I'm assuming her stats don't line up with being level 1? I'll fix that, easy peasy.

>Adjustments<

-Yes, "soaking" an enemy doubles the damage they take from Lightning attacks.

-Buffed Sole Sheath to +10% at maximum. This can't be fixed retroactively, so if you have this skill already, sorry, it'll get worked out later.

-Tweaked Turtle Up, as mentioned earlier. Level 1 offers no Proficiency drop now.

-Added percent signs to body part resistances.

-Fixed a visual error with the Goblin, it wasn't a major error, thankfully.

-Fixed a few more small issues, some of which won't come up until Chapter 3.

-Hypertouch got nerfed. Due to a glitch in the "Meltdown" state, I had to remove that state and replace it with a standard Endurance drop (20/40/60%). It can also miss now.

-I haven't done anything with Power of Gargalesis or Power of Knismesis yet, I stated my stance earlier. I'm still looking into possible changes.

-Kusugu Slugs got nerfed. Meticulous Tickle got nerfed as well. Keep in mind, the more Stamina the slug has, the more damage this skill does. Their regen was dropped to 5% instead of 10% (Rangers in Slug form still get 10% regeneration).

-Made some skill priority changes, primarily to Hathor.

-Hid something in the current game. It's really awesome, I won't tell you where it is.

-Almost done with Chapter 2's Calypso battle. Just have to write the encounter scene and put together a few more scenes. Study before stepping into the second Wellspring. There's a pop quiz therein.

Edit to Below: Proficiency doesn't help Feather Fire, Technique does. Bebe is very hard.

idk why, but im havin trouble with Beelzebebe, im a lvl 8 mage with proficiency and feather flame maxed out. please help?

What are the numbers in the beginning for (the ones that ask how ticklish a certain limb is)? Do they give beneficial stats or something?

Deus...you are my hero..../Worship....:lol I am now addicted to Lady Venus with a fiery passion! :blush :drool :blush I think the revamped version is one of the most fun games I've ever played XD. Now stop having an inferiority complex 😛

EDIT: Question, With the new revamped version can you go into the tower yet? I've gotten to it on my new Mage but it says there's nothing else to do, yet people seem to be talking as if you can go into chapter 2, do I need to download another update?

EDIT2: Disregard; My non sleep loving brain is making me more stupid by the minute XD

There are some weird letters after Beelzebebe kicks you out of her room and you try to enter again.

The door won't beige. You need to find the key Beelzebebe mentioned. \[af1]

@Lurka: On the spot points, you'll eventually get to talk to a fairy in that western clearing where you saved the sailor, and she'll give you all your stats. Explanations on the 200 point scale make more sense in the long run. The 1-4 stuff in the beginning is general, since putting a 200 scale would get annoying to Deus. Just be aware that initial scale converts into larger values that you'll eventually be able to look at and tweak via the Tome.

On the stuff in the tree we can't conceivably get to at L6 yet (which is as high as we should be post-Bebe), I'm willing to hold off. Deus has enough on his plate without "hey, once I hit L20 this skill is crap!" But all I was saying was that you won't fill up the trees. You'll probably get to the bottom of one and half-way through the other. At the same time, I'm the wrong guy to figure out the Mage tree. I've pretty much ignored the class.

@TickleUniversus: Bebe gives you nothing. But your decisions now effect the game later. Choose wisely. Also, you should be a L6 Mage when fighting Bebe. I'd recommend going back and putting some points into Stamina if you haven't done so. Otherwise you might be getting knocked out in a turn or two. You need more space to attack and heal up. At least enough to only need to use OJ when you can get the full 90+.

@AnimeOtaku: Those numbers determine how ticklish each spot is. When mamono tickle your neck, a '1' means it won't do much, a '4' means its fairly devastating. Your class-specific spot is a default '4'. I'd spend a total of around... 15-19 points, automatic 4 included and depending on your class.

Whew, ton of new stuff here now. Loving the revamp so far. Deus is undoubtedly working his butt of to work the kinks out of the new more complicated system. So lets not inundate him with too much stuff now? I'd rather have the next chapter revamped sooner than deal with Tome adjustments till the cows come home.

@Reggae: The Slayer has a foot attack down the line, the Soldier and thief don't. But if you're a foot fan, the Mage will have foot scenes in certain places when they get tickled. That'd be the class you're best off as for that.

Damnit i really screwed up royaly. I went into the devil mode on a single save on a whim fought like hell and got to calypso but don't have enough health items and can't get out of this hell hole. any advice besides having to go through this all over again?
Maybe an area to slip out next to her so i can go buy more if possible.

Hellfire, I think you're screwed. Let this be a lesson to you, Deus gives you 99 save states and explicitly warns you in the beginning to use them. You should save before certain spots: Like right before bosses, right before you talk to the mamono who sends you to the dungeon, etc. I don't think Deus should put a way out in there, story wise it only makes sense to go through her. Don't mean to be harsh, but the game kind of pansy-fies if there's always a way back to safety and healing without ever needing to save. There are instant GOs you could have hit without saving, too, you know.

I should have saved yes. That is my fault. Unfortunately i didn't realise the seal would transport me to a place i couldn't leave from or i would have saved there. I'm only around 2 hits from beating her too.
Also your right. I shouldn't ask Deus for something like this. I've pestered him enough just to get the white feather. I'll just to go through it again.

The Slayer has the best foot attack down the line. It has a 1/10 chance of instant Domination against non-bosses.

Good job on chapter 2 Deus, so far as I've seen.

I'm just wondering about the bar game. You said that you'd be revamping that too right? So far as I've seen, it appears unchaged. No biggie, just curious.

Keep on keeping on, Deus.

That's one of the bigger things <_< I'm kind of pushing it back to Chapter 4, to be honest. If the mood strikes me, it might show up in Chapter 3.

Right now I'm focusing my efforts on the Mamono themselves and getting everything balanced out. Once that's accomplished, I'll update the bar game.
