Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

The way i see it, the ranger has an aweful lot of potential, beeing that "studied" is just awesome.
My DWTD ranger build:
target I
stamina +150
observe V
observe is extremely nice, since it does not only benefit you, it is partly permanent (observe a tickle fairy at lvl.1 and you'll know her hp at lvl 10 without scanning again) and because the studied-status adds up to LOADS of damage difference over a loooong boss battle (and in dwtd, which fight isn't?)
battling bebe, i could would guess that the studied-status cost bebe about 1200 stamina points in dealt damage, and about 20 turns in received damage, with spaz maybe profiting more from the weaker opponent then the ranger himself.

Back from vacation~ can't wait to snuggle up with some game time tonight. From the sound of it, the Calypso scene is definitely worth brawling through Devil mode to reach. Seriously looking forward to it. <3

@Batman: I too went north out of the forest and got the dialog box about the captain and went back, although I was expecting to have the quest in the quest log so I may already have it. Would there be a way to see if I do? I guess what's the next step of the quest so I know if I have to go back and do it over again, but I doubt I have it as no guard's words differed from the norm.

Man I really need help here. I still haven't been able to play the game after downloading the new update.

If you have the Crystal Bell in your inventory, go talk to the bartender. If not, are you on Dance with the Devil? If not, then you can't do the quest. I'm assuming you are though.

What specifically is the problem? Is it returning an error, or are you stuck? Did you overwrite the existing files?

I want to help but I really can't unless I know just what's going wrong.

As a little sub-topic, i'd like to ask all the people out there about there favourite bar-game-tickle-scene (that is, of course, only for those who have seen all or most of them)
I, personally, greatly enjoy the rangers scene, because i'm a fan of the position the bunny girl puts you in, and i think everyone you has ever spent an evening hnging over a girls neck will agree that it is really a unique experience. other scenes worth mentioning are of course the mages (being a foot-boy myself) and the slayers (just intense, imho)

I literally can't go on the game. Non responsive.

I think I know what happened here starcraft because it happened to me too. What you need to do is reinstall the game (naturally taking out your save files out of the folder to stick in the new one) and put the old file into the recycle bin so you can delete that. The game itself should be around 50 ish megabytes but when I put the old game in the recycle bin it was over 90.

K

Yes It Worked!!!!
Oh and what is the NPC reponsible for taking over for the Giggle Goblin?

A fun thing to discuss~ I happen to be quite the fan of the Slayer myself. The intensity of that scene is just amazing. It goes on~ and on. It's wonderful~ it really puts the Outsider in a position of real penalty really. It feels like punishment. Which is what it really needs to be, while at the same time~ not malicious like a game over scene. <3

Lol really? I didn't know.
Do you have Starcraft 2?

No, I was referencing Abadon's suggestion. As with most trends, the RTS craze passed me by.

Just got done with chapter 2. Still seeing solid improvements with the writing. The campfire scene with Honey Bee didn't come off as quite so tender as the first one, but she does play less role in the plot. The miniquest needed to get Beezlebebe was kind of an entertaining scavenger hunt, and it was neat to see the fox sisters as more than just semi-generic bosses. Seeing a bit more of the mysterious woman and her own (evil) motives was interesting as well. There is less talking in this chapter, but there is development: Namely, the Outsider continuing to confront her own fears, and being torn between the kindness of some Mammono and the assurances of the mysterious woman that they're all monsters in the end.

I was happy to see the golden hairbrush (which I couldn't figure out in the first edition, if it even had a use) employed, most of all in a tender scene with the giggle goblin. The outsider's doubts and worries are well portrayed, as is her gradual development of returned affection. A bit of mystery is present with the hidden contents of the goblin's satchel. Unsurprisingly, I loved the scenes and look forward to more.

(And yes, I did name her Spaz:wub)

The Knimesis (likely butchering the spelling) skill tree remains the red-headed stepchild - I put a few in there for fun, not terribly worried about minmaxing with the white feather available. Same with the various elemental magics. I figure that being a mage, such should be my specialty, but without a sense for obvious elemental weaknesses of the enemy it feels like a waste. I kind of like the animation for the earth spell, where I can picture the mage literally chucking a rock at the enemy.

More tidbits:

-The sprites for the helpless humans in Beezlebebe's room remain after returning to the tower.

-My plan for the "fixing" of the goblin's stats did not work: upon completion of the Heart to Heart, she boosted to level 5. Have not tested this in combat yet, but the level 1 thing tested positive so if it is consistent she will indeed be level 5.

Didn't find playing the Slayer on DwtD particularly interesting, so I think I'll start again as the ranger.

Anyway, great job, love it, can't wait for more, hugs, kisses, etc. etc.

A while ago I played through part of the original ToG. Now after having seen the revamp, the improvement is just incredible. I enjoyed the original, but the revamp feels like a much more unified and polished experience. All the various elements of the game, the characters, the side quests, even the abilities (with the tome being introduced by Honey Bee), all seem more tightly tied in with a stronger central story, and the world feels more alive as a result.

I have two quick questions:

First, how many skill points are you supposed to receive per level?

I've been playing as a thief on DwtD. I'm level 5 and I currently have 2 points in Target, 1 in Stamina, 1 in Steal, 1 in Synthesize, 1 in Chemistry, and 1 in Can't Catch Me, for a total of 7 skill points. I've gotten 1 skill point every level, except for one level where I received 2 (I forget which level this was) but by the next level, it was back down to 1 point per level. Is this the intended rate?

Secondly, the other outsider quest. When I first read about this quest on the forum, I went to my most recent save (right before fighting Beelzebebe) and went back to town, but despite talking to the guard and the captain a few times, nothing happened. I went back to an earlier save, (right after beating Honeybee) and went back to the town, and this time, talking to the guard worked, and I got the bell. Is it not possible to get the other outsider quest unless you start it before going to the tower?

I also had the same issue with the Giggle Goblin mentioned earlier in the thread, the game says that they are level 0, and after bringing them into battle, I confirmed that they have a stamina of 30, meaning they can't survive a single hit.

I also noticed a typo. During the first encounter with Beelzebebe (when she kicks you out of the room and releases the two keys) she tells the two foxes that they can eat the human if "she" reaches them, even though I was playing a male character.

Thanks again for making this game, I've been having a great time playing it.

This discussion made me go back into my old saves and see the Ranger and Slayer scenes again. And then the thief and soldier (both soldier!) and adventurer ones... I'd forgotten how sensual the Slayer scene turned out. I find myself unable to pick one out of the crowd. They all have their charm, and while we all might particularly enjoy one spot or style, variety is the spice of life. Having all the characters to see them all is always a treat. Kudos to Deus and whoever else is responsible for writing them. I'm sure they appreciate the praise.

I know, voting is cooler than just clapping my hands. But I must respectfully abstain. I suck.

@Groo: I feel like where you spend your points depends largely on your class and whether you're in devil mode (where I'm playing. Kind of a slog!). My Soldier has avoided Garg entirely for Turtle power (a worthwhile skill, all you Soldiers out there, its definitely better for you than the mamono) in the Knis tree. My Slayer needs to be L5 just to start Knis! My thief is L6, and definitely utilizing the uber-agility & evasion Knis can give. Of those 3, obviously Slayer is Garg tree incarnate and Soldier is Knis. But the thief is nicely balanced, I think.

Hey all.

Would any of the people who beat DwtD mode mind posting their skill tree set?

I'm using slayer and having difficulty on Beezle-face. Due too playing too many classes at once, I was wondering why I was getting my ass handed to me only to find that I neglected to by armour for said character.

Currently my build is:

5 in outsider (3 into first skill; 2 in health)
2 in garg ( both into claw)

I'm lvl 5 and hoping to not have to go through all over again. I went defense instead of checking my gear. Wish there was a skill reset.

Any skill tree sets would be great to see. I intend on playing all classes.
This game is getting so awesome that eventually it will need it's on FAQ and walkthrough. (Deus you have enough on your plate dont even think about it)

you might want to consider spreading out your stats but naturally getting points in stam and adrenaline never hurt. Also keep a good eye on both the knismesis and gargelesis tree since both have decent stuff.

I finally beat Beezle on DwtD. at level 6 you get 2 skill points so that allowed me to put 2 more in garg which was needed. Though what a challenging fight. It really made me feel good when I won. now to find this extra boss fight...

Do you have to do the secret boss B4 you go into the tower? If so I may have to start over.

I have completed every quest, save for (the strange chest) (the captains challenge) (gathering goo) (the mamono codex) and the main storyline quest
I am definitely on DwtD and I have spoken to everyone in town. I have no "Crystal Bell" in my inventory either.

I can access the quest window, then go back into the menu during the opening cutscene. I'm sure I'm not supposed to be able to do this, but I'll just mention this just to make sure. With some more testing, I can actually access the quest window in the middle of conversations as well, which also allows me to access the menu, and if you actually make a save during this, the game will error and force a shutdown on the game. I did this at the first fork in the maze you start out in and the error was: Script 'Scene_File' line 215: TypeError occured. no marshal_dump is defined for class Proc.

Sorry about trying to break your game Deus, but that's what I like doing. Hopefully I won't find too many more bugs like this, but only time will tell. Almost forgot, I'm using the latest version that is linked in the first post in the thread.

EDIT: The smallest minor bug ever. After the prologue completion and you watch the scene with the thief, you can actually move before the exclamation pops up and the message telling you that sidequests have been unlocked. You can actually go back inside the pub to view the scene again and from what I can tell, you can do this repeatedly until whenever. A very minor thing as there's only a small time frame you can abuse, but you never know what you can do with little things like this further down the line.

EDIT2: If you escape from Venus after losing the fight, all random encounters in the forest will play the boss battle music. Extremely minor, quite frankly I enjoy this one more.
