[VX Ace] The Laughing Isles

Indeed, but also..MOAR FOOT SCENES :stickout I'll still be giving you upperbody lovers your scenes, but in the end, you'll definitely see foot scenes peak slightly more numerous.

Well given that it's your game and you love feet the most, it's fair enough that there be a little more of that than UB stuff. Besides, you've almost got more bellybutton scenes and stuff in this demo than Screamer has in all of his games combined. Makes me really excited to think what else you have in store for the belly/button lovers. :bouncy:

As for the notice, this is definitely why most RPG vets will tell you to save often, and not just that but save in different saves! Having multiple save files throughout the game can let you go back in case you messed up or missed something so you don't have to go through the whoooole game again.

So, as it happens I'm not a complete moron and I saved right before the raid in another file! So I got to experience the harpy scene and the zombie girl scene (Excellently written, by the way!) But more importantly, I bought an effton of potions and got the best gear possible, and beat vi. Dat ending. 😛

The only thing I didn't do was the quest to collect the paper. Not exactly sure what I was supposed to do to complete that one. I'm also told there was a toad girl but I didn't find her at all either.

lol the last boss i was so baked i thought i screwed it up or something like wait wtf hahaha

The sign was fixed a loooong time ago (by which I mean I put something on there because I didn't have nor was going to have it be important. But damn if people didn't want a sign to have something readable on it!) Are you on the latest version?
Assumed I was. Shall double-check later.

Could you explain what you mean by "tad on the nose"? If there's things I need improving in, I'd like to know so as I go along I can fix things and make future events better.
In short, I was mainly referring to my first impressions of what the monster encounters would be like. While the slime girl could be a borderline moe-blob (pun intended), and with the catgirl unsubtly fighting for and singing of panties before throwing off the rest of her undergarments, I was wary that most enemies would be acting, for lack of a better word, infantile? I suppose it's just a character archetype that I've found to be blunt to deal with. Most antagonists succeeded in having varying personalities though, so some of it may just burn down to different strokes for different folks.

I've learned as I was building the demo that all-over scenes suck.
Ok, not the demo, I learned this when playing OTHER games (particularly Japanese games where they often go with "All Over" scenes). It's so dull.
That's right. You fight that homogenization.

Just like in most games, if you play a physical class, you'll probably be spamming the default attack. It's your specials I want saved for boss fights, and if you do that then I feel like I've done my job. The Warrior is designed around 2 things - tanking and physical damage.
So is aiming for specific areas meant to work better for other classes, or just on particular bosses?

  • As for time related quests, the game progresses and things change so if you miss something now then it's just how it is. This is why it's a good idea for multiple saves (or playing the game through on another class). Just letting you know right now, you will NOT see everything in one playthrough (like, say, the endings with specific monster girls). As for the Toad girl, she is actually MEANT to be missed unless you are really adamant about investigating things.
  • The Chocobo battle music during the Centaur raid. You actually make an EXCELLENT point. I'll look into changing it out to something more dramatic for that part (and future events like it).
  • I will say this, enjoy them while you can. I've given you 2 free heal zones, but as you saw in Lockstockd Tickles, you had to pay a small fee for the inn. Once you're out of the Demo area, it's going to be like this in most areas. I might drop a freeby heal area or two, more than likely always before a boss fight, but they'll be limited.
  • I'll check the Oni cave and make sure the encounter rate isn't too high. From what you're saying, it sounds like it is and I'll go and drop it down some. If there's one thing that annoys me bad in RPG's, it's high encounter rates that keep me from moving more than a few feet. If you're complaining, however, about how you get more Oni mobs per encounter the deeper you go...well...you ARE getting closer to the boss fight. Wouldn't you think there'd be more Oni's trying to protect "The Boss"? :stickout
  • I'd probably be finicky about working on anything to be intentionally missed, but hey, I'm no programmer. Hopefully I don't miss too many big quest chains each time. If the game's successfully huge I'll only have so much free time for multiple reruns.
  • Hooray, I made a minute contribution. ^^
  • Pity. I'm a cheapskate in these.
  • Fair enough. I guess that when it happens in an area where we're already dealing with puzzles or non-linear navigation, and running away is always viable, it starts to feel like busy-work. I'd sooner wish to deal with seeing a few physical guards than keep sprinting from random encounter to random encounter.

So thank you for all the feedback! I hope I'll continue to keep you as a satisfied customer 😀
For now you shall. That is to say I can provide moral support and overt criticism. ^^

Ok, I've had time to run through on the latest version with a Ranger. I like the class, and regularly used her weakening arrow ability. I might stick with her. Instead of organizing my thoughts coherantly, I went stream of consciousness as I was playing (again, overall I'm really happy with this demo, looking very cool. Love the scenes, their sensuality, their variety):

-in the tutorial, when Joran gives you 1 exp, you don't actually get 1 xp. This would throw off the pretty numbers (no longer divisibles of 5 and 10 provided RE don't give odd numbers as well).
-if you take the shortcut during the tutorial, Joran will still say you took the long path.
-there are spots where Nadya's name does not display, such as choosing to tickle the slime in the tutorial. It'll say something like [/N1].
-Even if you've never talked to the blue haired girl in the first town with a letter, she'll still say "You're back!" That only makes sense if you talked to her earlier.
-likewise, the shopkeeper in Lockstocked also says "welcome back!" as the first thing.
-Man, the frog girl won't show after the tutorial?! Harsh, AW. Harsh.
-No scene for staying at the Giggling Sleeper. Sad, the innkeeper did not seem trustworthy. Nor the drunken patrons.
-there is a sign at the lake. I can't read it.
- the Fuzzy Bra is kind of bad for an item you get for sparing the catgirl. I don't know, maybe it should be at least comparable to the swimsuit?
-After giving the Catgirl panties… I still have panties. Sweet, sweet panties.
-ugh, Oni spawn rates. Little rats aren't worth any experience, either.
-At Lvl 6, the Ranger is supposed to learn Quick Move? I don't see it, did she just get faster?
-Did not save the dude from the centaur. Sorry, ma'am, that was on me. Interested to see if that'll pop in later in the game.
-Ooh, Harpy. I like you. No matter how that battle goes.
-Dammit, Vi. Breaking ma games. I had a good thing going.

Suggestion:
-It’s a pain to walk back to the priest every time I need to be healed up. Can Nadya eventually get some kind of out-of-combat item for that? Chant the magic word and get healed? I don't think that makes the game too easy, as you can already run back.
-I feel like at least one NPC should be self-aware enough to comment on the weird stuff you're wearing. At least when its weird. Nadya's walking around in a swimsuit, or a fuzzy bra… someone should think that's odd. Or hot. Or fashionable. Or something.

Mmmm sensual scenes. I'd say the classes aren't entirely done yet either, so some will get more abilities. Like Ranger, whom I feel could use another one or two abilities.

  • To help calm you down, the 1 exp is meant jokingly. However, I HAVE fixed this to where it actually does give 1 exp, so that'll be in the next release (which will probably be Live). Also, the exp to next level curves don't end in 0's and 5's, they're varied. Like level 1 - 2 is 75 total exp while 2 - 3 is 178 total exp.
  • If you can point these out to me, I can fix them without having to scour every line. I've looked at the slime fight and fixed these for the next version, so thank you VERY much for finding my typos 🙂
  • The shopkeeper has been fixed too. That was my error to where she was talking to you as if you've already met. As to the blue haired girl, I'll modify it thanks to your feedback so it isn't so awkward.
  • Harsh maybe, but again - I reward those who take the effort to discover everything before moving on. Things can be missed and while I'm sure some people will complain, it DOES help replayability. There are several games out right now where you can miss things. Like ToG, where you can miss the faerie in the town if you don't find and talk to her as soon as you get in there.
  • I was coming up with a scene for the Live version, so expect a scene on your first stay in the Giggling Sleeper.
  • Now that you and stork have talked about it, I double checked. Stupid...stupid me. I DID actually fix the sign a while back. I DIDN'T make it to where you could interact with it. So the sign IS fixed and yet is also broken :blush Oops.
  • The swimsuit is a hidden item, is why. It's MEANT to be better. It's one of the better things you can get at the start, and it and the flip-flops are free just for walking in. So yes, the Fuzzy Bra is worse, because the Fuzzy Bra isn't hidden. I'll look into giving it a minor buff, but you still will prefer the swimsuit if you find it. Also, the panties shall be fixed. Don't need anyone running around with panties on their heads and calling themselves Figments now :stickout
  • Spawn rates have been fixed for the next version. Terribly sorry about that. I know how grueling that must've been for you guys.
  • Is Quick Move still not being learnt? I thought I fixed this one too. I'll have to double check, but Quick Move is a special ability (like the arrows) that allows you to make you or your allies faster. Looks like something is still busted here.
  • The actions you do in earlier parts of the game can affect things in the future. Yes, this will definitely come up if you didn't save him.
  • Lol seems the Harpy stole your heart, eh? Talk about a win-win situation (even if you lose).
  • Hahaha, I'm glad everyone enjoyed Vi. She was a fun Demo event to make.
Now for your suggestions:

Nadya can get some out of combat items to heal herself. They're called potions :stickout All joking aside of course, the only way you're going to get a "chant the magic word and get healed" by default is if you roll a Cleric or a Paladin. Then you'll have access to healing spells.

You make an interesting point. I'll look into adding some NPC interactions depending on what she is wearing.

:bouncy:

Makes me proud to hear you say that you're excited. There's still many things in the works, but I aim to "try" and many player parties. I'd like to think if I made you happy, then I've made bellybutton lovers all over happy. 😀

So, as it happens I'm not a complete moron and I saved right before the raid in another file! So I got to experience the harpy scene and the zombie girl scene (Excellently written, by the way!) But more importantly, I bought an effton of potions and got the best gear possible, and beat vi. Dat ending. 😛

Excellent job! I'm happy to hear you got a chance to go back and see the scenes. Lol it seems many people have become smitten by the Zombie Thief (Lurk was the first, amusingly wanting her to run for president :lol). Expect to see more quality dialogue like that in the future now that I'm going to concentrate more on certain parts, win or lose.
And congrats on beating the Demo! Wasn't the ending da BESTEST?

As to the paper quest and the frog girl - the frog girl is a missable event; you have only a specific time in the story to access her otherwise she is gone (many of these events will be gone too after you get passed the Demo). The angel tells you what to do with the paper quest. Comb the beach outside the town and fight the Beach Brushers to get what you need.

lol the last boss i was so baked i thought i screwed it up or something like wait wtf hahaha

Welp. Goodnight folks. Bluemoose just won this week's award for Best Response. :lol That just made my week right there.

Assumed I was. Shall double-check later.

For now you shall. That is to say I can provide moral support and overt criticism. ^^

Don't worry about double checking. I've already found out the sign WASN'T fixed completely, so you're absolutely correct.

Oh no, I was simply giving, as you said, archetypes. The Slime Girl and the Cat Girl are meant to be the "moe blobs" with low intellect and small minded speech. I mean, do YOU see a brain in that big boobed mass of blue? Because I sure don't :stickout You're going to see variation in characters/enemies, so I'm glad you didn't write the game off as soon as you saw them.

What do you mean by "Aiming for specific places"? If you mean weaknesses, then yes. Most bosses are going to have weak spots that deal considerable damage. An excellent example is Tula and her feet. Them and her breasts are her weak points, but a Rogue can do a Tickripple and then a Tickle Feet to deal massive damage to her. Not EVERY boss will have weaknesses, but most will. Also, as you progress, enemies will start to gain weaknesses and strengths just like bosses which will help when up against some hard random mobs. Knowing what makes em 'geegle' is all a part of the game. The Demo mobs are like starter mobs with little strength that introduce you to several game mechanics (such as a tanky mob (rogue centaur) with 2 damage dealers (fledgling harpies)).

Lots of tickle games right now have things that can be missed. ToG, as I mentioned in the previous post, has several missables. You can't get the White Feather if on hard mode and you can't see the secret bosses unless you're in that mode. If you kill off something, like the faerie in the forest, you then miss out on her future stuff too. Now let's take a look at LoL. I have first hand experience with this, as I went about and finished the Thieves area completely and thought I was all done. Then, I began reading comments here about how much they liked the individual torture scenes of the characters. I didn't know about this secret event, so I had completely missed it - I had to go back to a previous save before the fight and level up and redo the fight a few times before I finally got it right.

Come come now, the inn's pricing is quite fair 😉 In fact, it's a steal considering how you can get it all back in roughly 1 fight.

As I said, I've gone in and adjusted the Oni encounter rate, so this will be much better in the next release.

Hey, I love moral support and I love overt criticism, so I'll take both and respond accordingly 😀

Lol it seems many people have become smitten by the Zombie Thief (Lurk was the first, amusingly wanting her to run for president :lol).

Don't get me wrong, that scene was great. But I'm more smitten with the octopus girl scene. I'm not even a foot fan and that was my favorite scene in the entire game.

I second that. Classic, but with a somewhat unconventional depiction of the tickling technique, lots of efforts to describe sensations and small actions over the blunt narration of events, and on the top of that, a deep feeling of "I'm not going to walk away from here with my mind in one piece!", both directly rendered in Nadya's thoughts and implied through the fate of the other woman. It was brilliant, and stylistically speaking probably the best one so far 😉

-Fair enough fair enough. I shall look forward to the rest of the coalition of heroes and villains before any fuller judgements. Any chance of other character reveals or are you saving em?

-Ah, I was curious why some enemies didn't have much in the manner of weak points, but I suppose that explains it.

-I'm not condemning the practice of making things to be uncovered, I'm just wary of the way that I may end up uncovering. i.e. Scanning every nook of the world map at indeterminant intervals, only to miss a quest chain and compulsively backtrack on a chunk of progress reloading. Trial and user-error.

-But I'm that guy who doesn't let anyone drink hi-potions until the final fiiight... (companions regret signing on with me)

-Tis a deal.

Hey just wanted to say I loved the demo. Can't wait to play the finished version. As much as I liked the tickling scenes I'm really enjoying the story, I was gutted when it ended on Vi after the centaur raid. Great place to end it, Big battle, dramatic scene and... end. I was sat there like "What?! :cry "

Same, but considering it's only a demo now, it had to end somewhere. Anime was really clever to end it in this fashion.

You've probably already said, but what are your plans for the demo? Will it be adding on more and more, after the bugs have been squashed. Or did you have something else in mind?

He's already said that releasing the live version is next. It'll pretty much be what you got in the demo plus some more. After that he plans on releasing the rest of the game in parts.

Not sure if I should be really happy about this or worried! A non-foot fan liking a foot scene? Oh jeez the world might be collapsing! :lol

But It's nice to hear how much you liked it. I don't know how it came to me to describe the scene like that, or to utilize the tickling. It just happened and BAM, you see what you get. Expect more descriptive scenes like that the further in the game you get.

By character reveal, do you mean like Tula? I have planned to do 2 more before the second "chapter" is released (the first chapter is Live version). We'll see if things go according to schedule. 😀

Yea, I mean most enemies you can quickly down over here. As you progress, that's quickly going to change. The enemies you start facing right after the Demo ends, for example, are a lot tougher. They've got the power of the mini-bosses you've faced! Considering you're still solo, it's a good idea to start practicing some weakness attacks. You'll also be introduced to magic using monsters, so watchout.

Hmhm, if you miss a quest chain and WANT to go back and find it, isn't that a good thing? It means you really like my game and want to experience everything in it. I'd consider it a good thing if a player would get upset over missing something, because that means they were really interested (otherwise they'd just be like "meh, doesn't really help me at all so I'll just continue on"). There's a good chance EVERYONE will miss a quest chain or two simply based on their actions!

Ohhh noooeezzz! B-but then that means you're abusing your characterrrsss! Making them fight and work until they're close to dying, then forcing them into bed even though they just woke up an hour ago. Abuuuuuuuuuse :stickout

Hope the shock wasn't too damaging lol. It's gonna drive you nuts waiting for each chapter, but I'm gonna love seeing you addicted.

As Super Snake said, next up is Live version. Majority of it is what you've played, as well as things that I had disabled and things you weren't able to see. Also, the Live version is......virus free 😉

Going to keep the demo/virus map around for posterity, somehow?

Going to keep the demo/virus map around for posterity, somehow?

I'll turn the current, released version into the Demo version and have is separate for download. While the Live will have all of the Demo and more, only the Demo will allow you access to that corruption map and battle with Virus.

Ok, maybe it was mentioned and I just missed it so I'll bring it up: WHEN will the live version be released? I'm a very impatient man.

Is there a part planed where you get turned into a monster yourself??? For at least a short while??? Perhaps where you have to find a cure to regain your humanity before hunted down by humans??? That would be a great quest!!! 🙂

The game story really got me hoked, it is better than "Diablo 3" I can tell you. Not to mention that I really enjoy the tickle scenes!!! 🙂

Why yes! It happens sometimes when you lose! Like, say, the Harpy (or could potentially be implied). Except...there is no cure. :blink
But honestly, no there isn't haha. If you become a monster girl, you're a monster girl permanently as far as anyone on Illusia knows. If there was a cure, there wouldn't be a war going on. Hunted down on the other hand...

Hehe, glad I gotcha hooked 😀 Though, MANY things are better than Diablo 3. Stay tuned for more tickle scenes when the game goes Live. I've got a couple yummy treats in store for you guys. I hope as things continue, more and more people come out to talk about their favorite scenes/characters/fights.

Alright, we've had a serious partnership with the General, and a friendemy in Tula. Now I'll speculate for a levelheaded cynic and a shy but capable companion until proven otherwise.

I'm sure that plenty of exploration will be had before we manage to set that guide up.

Hey, if the Persona series taught me anything, it's that when the final bosses come through in that closing stretch, there shall be no complaints about my hoarding.

..........If I knew where your hidden fortress of used pizza boxes was, I'd burn it to the ground. :31:

-EL GASPEH- NUUUU! But then I'd become exposed to the cooty filled women of t he world! :lol

LOL yeah diablo 3 makes me want to cry

Diablo 3 makes most of us cry. I just can't believe what Blizzard did to one of my all time favorite series. Or should I say what they DIDN'T do. Ah who am I kiddin, it goes both ways.

Ah ok, wait a second. Let me clarify this since I might be reading it wrong. Did you mean character reveal in game like Tula and the Captain, where you actually met them and interacted? If so, let me apologize and say you won't be getting that until Chapter 2, wherupon you can acquire 2 monster girls (and thus begin the relationship process). I had to giggle at your guesses though, as one is correct. You'll be introduced to the shy girl next.

Oh I hope so. I'm sticking stuff in every nook and cranny for you guys. Lots of little rewards for checking things out. And once passed the Demo, you'll have more locations that actually could house secrets.

Ho ho, yes, save the super, duper bombs you get at every level for the boss because why not? :stickout But that's definitely an RPGer's mind right there lol.
