Whatchu playing?

I wish I could get into the Zelda games but I just can't. I've only been able to beat Ocarina, I just got bored with the others :/. I think my best chance would be Twilight Princess if I was going to find one that I could really get into.

I just recently started playing Stardew Valley and I'm addicted to that game... Holy crap is it satisfying haha. If you've ever played Harvest Moon and wished it was just a little bit more involving, this would be right up your alley.

I'm the opposite. I couldn't stomach Harvest Moon because it was so goddamn boring. And from what I've seen, Stardew Valley doesn't interest me either.

I can totally get that, those kind of games are either a hit or a miss with people. It's essentially like setting out jobs for yourself to do, it's a weird thing to enjoy that in a video game lol.

Although I absolutely love the Rune Factory games because they take those Harvest Moon mechanics and blend them with the other RPG mechanics really well. Harvesting high level crops and cooking them into what is essentially a full potion, and riding a tamed monster/pet into battle is amazing.

Wow, I totally forgot about Rune Factory! Yeah I got super into Rune Factory 2 on the DS. I liked the mixture between fantasy RPG and farming sim but I felt like Rune Factory just got incredibly tedious when trying to get the higher level gear. It was just endless grinding of random drops and I got tired of it. But I totally rode my dragon everywhere like a boss haha.

I think Rune Factory gets better in general with each version. At least with the main games. I started with 3, then went back to the first two. Three was short enough that I didn't really go much farther than marriage and kids, but it has most of my favorite characters from all of the games. 1 was so slow compared to what I was used to that I couldn't get into it. 2 was a lot of fun, but I wished that you could play as an adult past the first act of the game.

Yeah, when I was finished with 2 I was pretty excited for the next ones since I knew they'd just make it better and better but I totally forgot about the series. Maybe I'll check out 4 since I've got my 3DS up here. I agree with what you said about 2, it's kind of annoying that you lose your adult character after that. I liked the plot elements they had involving it but you kind of built up that character for nothing lol.

4 is by far my favorite, and I haven't even managed to finish it yet (because there are basically three separate complete stories, each of which gets exponentially harder. Also, the last one requires you to get a completely random side event before it starts.) The only thing I don't like about it is that nothing in your house (cooking tools, fridge, crafting and forging, alchemy set, etc.) locks in place anymore, and it's nearly impossible to make everything look evenly placed, which just bothers me.

Well, you have officially sold me on that then! I'll definitely look into it. It sounds like it has a solid amount of content to it and if it keeps all the things I liked about Rune Factory 2 then I'll probably be hooked on that game for weeks haha. I've been kind of looking for a new fantasy game to play lately.

Been getting back into some bullet hells lately. Hitogata Happa, Gundemonium: Recollection, and Gundeadligne - three classic games (available on STEAM or the PS3 store for $10US for all 3, though only the STEAM version has the uncensored sprites and the remixed music). Pretty difficult in places, but exhilarating to play.

Also giving Jamestown a shot. Sort of a steampunk/alternate history bullet hell-esque game set on Mars in the 1700s. Seems pretty decent, lots to unlock, good challenge, fun playable ships, and a reasonable price tag.

I'm trying to look for a PC RPG game that's similar to Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale. If I recall correctly there was one currently being developed or on the market but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. I'm looking forward to playing TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan (even if it appears they got April O'Neil wrong again). 🙁

There are a few cool little extras for beating the story (I can't remember if it's after the first arc or the second) but the coolest is the ability to switch your sprite to any character in town, including the opposite gender MC. They still refer to you as the gender you started as, but it was a nice little feature since it's the closest thing you can get to having same-sex relationships.

That's a really interesting feature! Do you just swap sprites or do you actually switch to that character and have access to all of their stuff and home? It definitely sounds like huge improvement upon what they had in 2, I'm definitely interested.

As far as I can tell, it's just a sprite swap. It uses the point mechanic that the game introduces (you get points when you do people's requests, beat enemies, farm, etc. and then you can spend them on upgrades for your farm, room, storage, backpack space, festivals, etc.) and it's pretty cheap so you can switch back and forth. To be honest, just the fact that you can finally choose which gender your character is is a huge improvement.

Hmm, definitely sounds interesting! I can see myself spending hours on that one haha.

You're probably talking about Pillars of Eternity.

Besides Smash Bros, and the aforementioned Rune Factory 4, I just got a bigger memory card for my 3DS, so now I can redownload and continue Etrian Odyssey Untold, and start playing Phoenix Wright Dual Destinies

I'm waiting for Total War: Warhammer. Currently re-playing 'Napoleon: Total War'.

Oh sorry, ha I completely read that as "I'm playing" instead of "I'm waiting". Damn, got my hopes up. 🙂

I've been trying to play Smash 4 on my 3DS online but the lag is too frustrating for me to really get anywhere. I wish I was able to plug in an ethernet instead of relying on the wifi.

Ethernet port will be the New New 3DS.

I've been on the road for awhile, so I've mostly been playing a mix of Etrian Odyssey Untold, re-replaying Persona 4 Golden, Smash Bros 3DS, and Shantae and the Pirate Curse.

Now that I have a computer again, I've been playing Shadow Warrior on Steam, and have been trying to get my Xbox 360 controller to work well enough on my computer to play the first Dark Souls (the only one I own) which I played 20 minutes of before I got some graphical glitch and I had to restart.

Been a while since I posted in here or at all really, haven't done a whole lot in gaming in the past while either. Randomly tried out some dlc characters in smash at a friends place but didn't do much of it. Though I really did enjoy me a full slot mario party 4. It really is destroyer of friendships.

... You joke but I wouldn't be surprised lol. It'll just be unsold Wii U pads that they bolted a screen onto and carved a port into 😛.

I doubt the connection would be too fantastic but I'd be willing to try playing a round or two of smash 4 with you if you're interested.

If you don't already have it, I recommend using DSfix. It'll save a lot of annoyance.
