Who Hunts Monsters [MV]

this affects the mage the least, but i think you guys are going to LOVE the new animations i'm working on for Angie's attacks. i just finished the Jack's updates and they look SO GOOD.

That's good to know you're working so hard on the update. It looks very promising!

.-. just gotta finish the hardest part: the game overs and soul eggs, then the Hardcore update for Chapter 1 will be ready and i can finally start working on chapter 2 YAY

So, I've done everything there is to do on the game, I think, except the Altar's quest at the forest. But I think it bugged.

I was doing the weretiger quest (forgot her name now, Junko, Jinko, something like that) and I decided to try to push one of the statues near the alter. I pushed the statue on the right. I pushed it left and saw it move. "Aha, I'm a genius, I just need to push the two statues to the alter and the quest will proceed, probably", I tought. Decided to finish the Weretiger quest first, and so I did.

Now I went back to the forest and the statue won't move anymore. I can't push it left. I can push it down - but then I lock myself out of the puzzle since I can't push it anywhere else. (also, I can push the statue down twice for some reason, even if it should be impossible. The statue's sprite breaks in two and the game crashes. Pretty bizarre bug).

The other statue, the one left of the alter, still moves normaly.

I don't even need a fix, I just want to know what happens :c

O-o i can't for the life of me recreate this....

if anyone can recreate this and give me the exact steps (i tried exactly what Who am I? listed, but no go) let me know. there's no reason for this to be happening

almost done! should be able to safely update the drive version of the game today! keep an eye out for an announcement.

also: if i were to commission an artist to draw some of the scenes in the game thus far, which scenes would y'all be interested in seeing the most? .-.

Fantastic news on update time! Also, personally, I'd be particularly fond of seeing the kitsune scenes the most.~ Although I haven't seen what you have planned for the hardmode boss, yet. For all I know, I'd enjoy her scenes more. ...That'd have to be some scene, though..~

Awesome news!

And which scenes... well, definitely the kitsune scenes(Both winning and losing). Also Hobgoblin scene would be nice to see I guess...
And perhaps Werecat?
Obviously choosing those which are best feet-wise XD

Chapter 1 - A Fairy Royal Meeting (Hardcore Update)

Drive Link: http://googledrive.com/host/0BzDgWXLHu_qWR1hZMzBmTEo1OWs

i'm only uploading this to the google drive for one final round of "make sure brewedwar didn't blow everything up" .-.

Indiexpo and download versions will be coming soon!

disclaimers aside:

IT'S FINALLY HERE!

this is the final update to chapter 1, featuring a plethora of updates, fixes, and a brand new quest.

New Things:
- All physical attacks have been remade with new animations. I think these add a LOT of immersion and look SO MUCH better than the previous animations. PLEASE let me know what you think, i'm eager to hear feedback! (my favorites are Heavy Slam and Expose Weakness!)

- The Rogue class has gone through extensive rebalancing a few skill redesigns as part of the journey developing the Hardcore quest surrounding them.

- A new quest can be obtained after finishing Chapter 1 AND "Brother in Arms" (the Jinko Quest). Simply go to the guild hall if these two things are complete and you'll see Miller Lite, speak with him to activate the new quest.

- This new quest features a whole new area called "The Fairy Forest" which is a puzzle filled area that I think features my best puzzle and map design to date.

- Completing this quest awards you with your first Artifact (a massively powerful item that can be used by any class). The artifact for this quest is "The Fairy Queen Crown" which gives you +15% HP Regen, +10% MP Regen, +2 TP Generation, and +50% Exp (yes this includes dress card exp!)

- The new quest features 5 new game over scenes. All of these scenes, plus one extremely long Punishment scene are available via the Fairy Queen Soul Prison awarded for beating the quest.

i've done quite a bit of changing under the hood to prepare for this quest and to prepare moving forward. all in all, i am super happy with this as the final draft of Chapter 1 as I feel it includes everything necessary to set the stage for the rest of the game.

i've said over and over again, but i'll say it again: this quest is very, very difficult.

it is not necessary to complete the game. but it is difficult. all of my testers were able to complete the fight, but they all agreed it was very hard. the boss doesn't do anything cheap, there isn't anything that's just outright unfair, but the fight does require you to think on your feet and manage your abilities and resources.

i gave the testers 20 bread rolls, 10 red apples, 10 red potions, 5 blue potions, and 5 green potions on a level 5 Rogue to beat the quest. i highly recommend you get to level 5 and overstock. once you start the quest, you cannot return home until it is completed.

again: ONCE YOU ENTER THE PORTAL IN THE QUEST YOU CANNOT LEAVE UNTIL IT IS DONE. the game will warn you about this several times, and will not even let you advance if you aren't a Rogue.

overall, i am extremely happy with this update. it took absolutely way too long to finish, but the end result is very, very cool.

please let me know what you think, as i pride myself on responding quickly and listening to feedback T_T i'm still very new and bad at this so i appreciate your patience and your support.

thank you, and keep an eye out for the downloads coming later tonight.

I hate to be the first bearer of bad news, but... I literally just started playing, bought a few extra health pots to prepare, got into the woods and found my first faerie and then....

TypeError
this._stateActionCount is undefined

Made one successful attack, received one successful attack. Made a second attack and that showed up, freezing the game.

basic attack? what attack did the fairy use?

also, reload and tell me if it happens again. it may be a syncing issue with the drive.

Angie x Kitsune.

(Haven't seen Fairy Queen scenes yet.)

Out of curiosity, I decided to try reloading the game to see if I made the mistake somewhere of doing something wrong. Instead of starting the quest and finding a fairy, I entered the woods and fought a random werebat and...same result. Second round, initiated attack and got the same error message.

that's really peculiar...i wonder if one of the new plugins isn't playing nice if it wasn't initiated on start up...

Edit: uploaded a change, got rid of the only plugin i could see that referenced action states, try now.

I personally think the residents of the bitterbug woods just aren't happy with the new boss in town and are getting uppity.

Update: Third refresh - Not sure if you literally just found a fix for it or it just decided not to act up this time, but I fully completed a random encounter with no error message.

i just posted what i think will be a fix about 10 seconds ago <_<

if i'm not mistaken, it was a plugin i tried using when developing Trap Card. i eventually found a way to not have to use it, but i just forgot to take the plugin and its commands out. hopefully that fixes it.

i'm going to dinner with my wife, if anything else comes up i'll fix it when i get home V_V sorry in advanced......

Don't feel too upset about bugs. Every game has bugs upon release of new content. It's a fact of gaming. I'm not upset about it. I mean, it gets in the way, sure, but I've played enough online games to understand how things work on this side of gaming. All you can do is find 'em and swat 'em. Also, have a good dinner!

Oookay. I'm not certain if this is a bug in graphics or I'm just oblivious, but I cannot, for the life of me, find the fourth hiding fairy to even reach the queen.

Okay, so that's what happened. I reloaded my save from just before I accepted the quest in order to do it again, just so I could see what went wrong. Three of the four fairies are there. However, the fairy that's supposed to be in the bottom left corner is missing in action. Not invisible, just not there. I tried hitting the action button where your map said she's supposed to be but no dice..
