Would you ever meet an online contact in person?

Sometime ago I got to know quite a few people online in chat rooms. I have met 3 of them. HOWEVER .... I did stress it was on a platonic basis .... you know just drinks and stuff.

The only one I regretted was a girl who booked into a local bed and breakfast and stayed the weekend. I was in one of those mini - splits with my long time g/f at the time but wasn't interested in forming a relationship with anyone else (my g/f and me got back together after a month or so). Anyway, as this girl had taken the trouble to come down and visit I took the trouble to entertain her .... took her shopping, to the pub, out for dinner and to a fun-fair.

My regret was that she obviously wanted more than a platonic weekend by the end of the weekend, and was a little upset that the feeling wasn't mutual. She did leave me a nice note when she went home ..... but I never heard from her again.

Nothing's bad provided you're getting lots of tickles in the meantime and/or not (i.e., never) expecting to meet said person anythime prior to that. ...well, either that or provided your fetish only "kicks in" once every six years or so. I just think I'd like to at least know what (US) President will be in office before my next tk session....lol

Kidding aside, I'm glad you're happy with everything and that it went smoothly. But, if you wanted to meet sooner, and did, you'd likely have been just as happy with your decision. Only then you could have had the rest of the six years to enjoy getting closer and meeting each other again and again. 🙂

Yes, certainly true. The ironic thing is, there'd be no such thing as a "one night stand" if folks were as careful and patient in r/l as they claim to attempt to be online. That's why I know three things: 1) you can be safe AND still meet someone from online in a public place w/o any more fear and anxiety than what you'd normally associate with encountering a stranger in everyday life, 2) you can make your own decisions about how far something goes at any time, and 3) it honestly doesn't take a very long time to make such a decision

But then again, I'm highly social. 🙂

And, online (email, IM, chat rooms, etc) seems to be one of the best ways

I met I think 5 people I met online, two of whom happened to go to my college, but none were tk'ers and none were romantic interests.
If I wasn't involved with someone I'd have no problem meeting someone for possible dating. Internet gets a bad rap- I met the most deranged people I've known in public places, face to face.
